Finally, someone who unites the Democratic party...
I suspect we've seen the last of the Obama "concern" posts from Salon.
Is this critter a Maggy Thatcher (the ultimate HFB [Hard-Faced Bitch]) wannabe?
It's always tough when your opponent has the stage and the spotlight and proves to be infuriating, but in a boxing match, a football game or a trial, it has to happen at some point. In a baseball game, they get their turn at bat. In court, I tell my clients that I can’t break their pencils.
Frankly, I'd be interested to see just how many people are watching the Republican chaos they are calling a convention.
Obama's acceptance speech outdrew the opening of the Olympics. Will McCain's tonight?
This is tough watching the "family values" display of Palin's dysfunctional family, watching Cyndi NcCain's haute couture, listening to Rudy Giuliani pretending he's other than a totally disgraced human being on both a personal and political level.
This generation of American's has a rendezvous not just with destiny but it's soul. The collapse of the Republican Party into a chaotic mess all the while blathering pseudo-patriotic attacks on the Democrats, challenges our view of ourselves like nothing else in a generation.
Palin is selling snake oil manufactured by right-wing extremists. It's her turn in the spotlight. I pray that, and I believe, the public isn't buying this time.

I don't have much, but I just donated a little more to Obama's campaign. Let's show that Palin's speech did one thing - it caused Obama to have a record day of donations.
She came across as condescending, and just plain mean in her speech last night. Do we really need more division in this country?
Note how she pointed out her son - an infantryman off to Iraq for the "victory in sight".
Note his visible confusion and embarrassment at having "mom" point him out on camera to all the worldwide viewers.
With the pride of her vanity she is posting him off to war in the style of the Salon of the Russian nobility in Tolstoy's War and Peace and she doesn't have a clue about what it all means.
Strip Teasing Aside- Palin is Dangerous
Deeply watched Sarah Palin's speech with sadness and horror. It was well done for what it was, and just the sort and series of statements which will grab hold of the dummies of the downtrodden. The Christian freaks, the plodding uneducated worker without a job, the unmindful, and those lacking understanding will gravitate to this speech while the wealthy Republicans may again laugh their way right back into the white house.
Beware on two fronts. McCain may win. Deeply predicted this in February and after watching this speech it again looks likely. Sarah Palin is a force and a dangerous one and if something should happen to McCain the country will be in even bigger trouble than it would be with four more years of Bush. Because this Palin is one odd package, Roller Derby Queen beauty, sleazy, and yet full of family values... forceful, and one of those people with drive and ambition who is not smart enough to know she is stupid. It is one thing to fool the people but this woman fools herself.
For days everyone has been wondering how do Biden and Obama carve Palin up without being seen to beat up on a woman. For Palin that was the key, remain nice, fragrant, un-nasty. Sending Palin out to stick in the knife creates a huge problem for the Republicans -- it is one thing to attack her when she is just a hockey-mom with a few family problems, but if she is a "bitch," nasty, snide, vicious, and if she parades her family on stage trying to show them as better than Obama's (look they're white) it makes it very easy to tear into her, her every lie, her every hypocrisy.
Hillary backers won't like this point, but it is true -- it only became easy for Obama to go on the offensive against Hillary after the swallowed Penn's stupid advice to attack Obama first -- then it was seen by the un-committed voters as fair-turn-about. Now Palin, by attacking Michelle Obama has made it open season on her husband and on Cindy McCain, which by the looks of it is a very stupid thing to do. By parading her kids she has invited questions about her family values.
In "To Die For" Kidman plays a beautiful and ruthless woman who dreams of being famous and will stop at nothing and use anyone and everyone to further her goal. Guess what? She just got the GOP's nomination as VP of the US! I hope that McCain's wholly inadequate vetting of her will allow for an endless stream of revelations about her to come forth and undermine her candidacy and his as it will fully display his complete lack of considered judgement. However, no one should take her lightly. She will stick the knife in with a smile and a sneer. Obama should take the high road, other Democrats should go for the jugular and Biden had better be ready for a fight when he debates her. She will trash his knowledge and experience with snotty comments and untruths. My advise to Biden- Don't start up with her in the debate but be prepared to finish her off. Don't be caught unaware. A parent who has no problem using her handicapped baby and teenage, pregnant daughter as props to advance her career will have no compunctions about attacking you viciously and hiding behind her skirt to shield herself from being held accountable. Senator Biden needs to be surgical, but devastating, in his response to her.
I listened to about as much of it as I could on the radio. I only heard a few minutes, but there were so many places where she would rattle off some bit of information, and it was utterly clear she had no idea what she was talking about. She'd come to a big word, and there'd be a slight little hitch in her delivery. I don't know how this came off on TV, but I could hear it in her voice. "My god," I thought, "She's completely full of shit."
But then, it was obvious in 2000 that W. was completely full of shit too. Same for 2004. There's a large percentage of voters unable to tell the difference.
Oh, and it bears constant repeating: McCain is NOT a fucking maverick. We must keep fighting that stupid, stupid meme.
