They must want to lose. That's the only think I can think. They must want to alienate Clinton supporter's so that a Democratic President doesn't have to take the heat for the things that need to be done to end the recession. If they don't, then why did they modify the roll call vote, denying Clinton supporter's even a moment of glory? Why didn't Obama or at least one of his surrogates even obliquely deny that Clinton was a racist? And what IDIOT decided to play "Addicted to Love" when Clinton was leaving the stage? There is no way that can be interpreted as an expression of love from the party, unless you are willing to completely suspend disbelief. I've never admired Bill and Hillary Clinton so much as I do now. Their self-control is amazing. It breaks my heart to not do what they say. But then I think about the roll call, and the pain eases. Neither Obama nor the Democratic Party deserve my vote or my support. And anybody who thinks I'm a troll for saying that can go to hell.
you guys have a disease. Its okay, everyone has moved on, some day you guys will to.
just wondering who decided to play "train of fools" as the music track after BO formally clinched the nomination. Someone with a sense of humor at least.
I loved Bill's speech. I loved Hillary's speech. And I'm in the middle of loving Biden's speech.
We still love Bill. That's a good thing.
Ah, burlydee, feel the love.
And the song when Obama was nominated was "Love Train."
It was the Clinton Lovers, aka the PUMA's. Certainly they tried to stir it up.
they forgot to tell him that brevity is the soul of wit
I have been saying hope isn't new and that Barack's campaign was a mimic of Clinton's 92 campaign with an IT upgrade. The Clinton speeches had substance -- unlike the other speeches I have heard in the convention. I like that Bill hit on Katrina tonight, as another hurricane threatens New Orleans. Barack hasn't spent much time with the rank and file. Bill gave a credible argument for Hillary supporters to vote for Obama, while giving McCain respect. I am still in wait and see mode. . .
I am sorry I was typing -- did Biden just say "Barack Obama is dead..." I really apologize if I misheard, I need to wait for commentary. But, the poignent moments with the Biden family and his mom got me teared up. He should have tried such an approach earlier. . .
Clinton was great. Kerry came out and kicked ass. Biden just finished and he was slammin' good. Not a single one of them went on too long, got boring, or hit a sour note. They were all ON and they hit solid point after solid point.
Awesome.
at which point then did they start to play "train of fools."
Bravo!
what is the point of having this large contingent there if Rendell is the only interview that's going to be conducted
they might play that on Joan Walsh's viddy
I used to like him. I voted for him. But I stopped liking him when one sexual scandal after another piled up and finally he had to admit about Monica that he lied.
I think Bill Clinton is a deeply flawed human being. His sexual issues cost us dearly. But apart from those issues, he was damned good president. He left this nation with hope and a balanced budget. For all the things he didn't deliver and all the ways that he disappoints, his gifts are tremendous.
He delivered tonight for Barack Obama because, when it comes to politics, he is the ultimate charismatic and a good Democrat. No, he isn't a very good husband. Yes, he has a temper. But he delivers an excellent speech. He has the gift of employing ordinary people's language with a clear and simple logic followed by inspriring examples. I so prefer his straight forward style to any other that I have heard at the convention, including the stirring and powerful speech Hillary Clinton gave last night to endorse the man who opposed her.
Strange as their relationship is, I believe Bill Clinton loves his wife. Angry though he may get, I believe Bill Clinton values his legacy.
Both he and Hillary Clinton did what was necessary at this convention for the Democratic Party. They should both be commended for the party loyalists and professionals that they are.
There will be people in posting in this thread who have implied or outright stated that Bill and Hillary Clinton are racists. I don't expect any of them to have the moral fortitude to apologize. Thoughout the primary these people indulged themselves to benefit their candidate by stating the sort of things that some of them thought were truth but that I believe most of them knew were lies even as they posted them.
I suppose well above 50% of human beings think the end justifies the means, but I am not among those types and I have no use for them. I despise people who would willfully and deliberately smear good Democrats with that slander. Years of enduring "white privilege," racism, and even daily insults do not justify the character assassination of one's opponents in order to achieve one's ends, not even if that end means the historic election of a black man to the presidency and a smackdown to real racists everywhere.
Bill and Hillary Clinton -- faults though they may have -- are NOT racists.
Call Bill Clinton an impulsive woman chaser. Call Hillary Clinton an ambitious pol, but never call them racists.
You really surprise me. You handed some much warranted credit and respect to Obama and Hillary, former presidential candidate, and your wife, and you didn't even deliver a long rambler, that was all about Bill's life.
Your credit with me has gone up just a smidge.
I never hated either, but I hated some of their primary tactics. And of course no mention of the insane, blind, seething Obama hatred...enough venom to kill the Cloverfield Monster a million times over...barely if ever got a mention from you.
But whats the point of all of that now?? We, all of us, are unified in a common purpose. Hillary and Bill did an absolutely OUTSTANDING, knock it out of the park job. It is NO MORE about me, or you, or him or her. Its about We and what We stand for. I am so impressed and proud of my party. (And Holy Cow how about that John Kerry??? Who'd a thunk it???? Wow!!!)
