Happy days are here again!

The Obama and Clinton campaigns come together to prove Maureen Dowd wrong.

The letters thread is now closed.

Good for both of them

It does seem that both of them are working things out.

I also love that Dowd's head is going to explode.

Will I board?

Not if Tim Kaine is Obama's VP choice.

I am so glad Dowd has egg on her face. I could not bear her patting herself on the back in a previous column for calling John Edwards "Breck Girl" and "Ken doll."

Also, Ambinder says that Clinton not only never request the keynote but also that she thought she should not have it.

Lots of gossip has been going on, many of it completely ridiculous as it turns out.

I am not at all upset that Obama and Clinton are unifying.

Prove Maureen Dowd wrong!!

Because we all know how important and pertinent and critical and crucial it is to pay attention to what Maureen Dowd says.

Thank god she was proven wrong!!!

We are saved!!!!!!!

Can we all just get along...

Either Hillary or Barak would make a fine President. McCain would be dreadful. The next step is clear. (By the way...Dowd is increasingly a pain in the ass.)

Much ado about BS.

Have you ever watched a political campaign before?

In other AMAZING news, the sun will rise tomorrow.

No matter how much gold paint you apply, a gilded turd is still a turd,

Cannot you, Joan Walsh, find something other than this political excrement to write about?

Don't you have a college degree? If you do, use it.

You could write about WWE contests, as the costumes and dialogue are more colorful and less vacuous.

SMACKDOWN!

What's up Dowd?

Still feelin' proud?

Too late

The unity pony left the barn many weeks ago (only to wander around in punch drunk circles). But how nice of Lord Obama to finally bless Miss Hillary's name being put in nomination. Too bad it took getting his back up against the wall to force what should have been an automatic, gracious acceptance at the get go. Sorry - a meaningless charade ain't gonna cut it at this late date, no matter how many happy faces the prop department puts out.

Damn K. Tex

Don't you ever give it a rest?

Deluded

Why is HRC any different than any other candidate? Everyone else dropped out. No one else is making these demands. You don't see Richardson demanding that his votes be counted. Hillary is like the loud, pushy kid at the party who gets more attention than the birthday because she's loud and pushy.

You can call this whatever you want. If you want to pretend that this is about THE PEOPLE go ahead. But it's a fantasy.

By the way, Stephen Colbert has this to say on the topic (You can also click on my name for the link):

@drinkwater

Actually, every candidate who gets a significant number of votes does the same kind of negotiating. Kennedy actually tried to take the nomination from Carter with far fewer votes than Clinton. With every other politician, it's standard operating procedure. Except when Clinton does it. Then, it's an arrogant attempt at taking something that doesn't belong to her.

Maureen Dowd

Maybe after the convention, Maureen Dowd can hit the campaign trail... with Joe Lieberman.

They should be very happy together.

What have we done to deserve her?

Maureen Dowd's formulaic columns are so lame and predictable, they wouldn't pass muster at most student newspapers.

Her continued employment at the New York Times can't be rationally justified any longer. I've often wondered what it is that she has on Pinch Sulzberger. It must be something big, because her snarky, inane, and incessantly tedious writing style is so laughably horrid that its prominent placement in the nation's newspaper of record can only rationally attributed to Pinch's fear of what she might expose if her contract was terminated.

Advice to Pinch: We NYT readers have suffered enough; fire Maureen; even if she makes freaky allegations, nobody will believe them. Maureen Dowd lost her credibility and her sanity decades ago.

Pity Maureen Dowd and light a candle in the darkness

Joan you sound like the person who is being beaten about the head and shoulders and then thanks the bully when they stop. Short of giving Hillary the V.P. slot Barack had no choice but to allow her name to be put in nomination and have the roll called. Hillary is right when she says that her supporters need the cathartic experience that comes with the Roll Call.

Obama is a pathetic excuse for a candidate. Hillary would be light years ahead of McCain at this point. For Democrats Obama is going to be a lot like a peewee football team taking on Notre Dame. But our Party is used to getting our heads handed to us every 4 years. We never learn.

@ Patrickvashon

I suspect that many people don't understand the meaning of catharsis. Joan says she doesn't think Hillary should have called for catharsis but in this instance, I don't quite believe her. Joan is truly expert at understanding all sorts of psychological processes, even though this sometimes results in accusations of concern trolling.

Joan is truly underestimated. She has led her readers to catharsis many times. She is the only person here who can lead horses who don't want to drink to water and and cause them to dip their noses in the stream.

I like her even when I know she is playing me a bit.

Now, I should shut up or I will begin to sound like Carol Richards.

Let's just wait and see...

what happens at the convention!! This whole episode has made Obama look weak! He's spent every waking moment since the end of the primary kissing HRC's butt, and still he has yet to do enough to satisfy her, Bill, or her die-hard supporters.

Let's pay close attention to what's SAID in these speeches by Hill and Bill!! I wonder if her lips will be dripping with praise for Obama OR simply vitriol for McCain...or better yet only words that signify HER historic moment(putting 18 million cracks in the glass ceiling for WOMEN). It makes a BIG difference.

After all, we know Obama cannot make Thursday night about HIS historic moment...if he does he will be accused of playing the "race card." So the moment will pass with hardly a peep about his groundbreaking achievement. Hillary will have dominated day two of the convention by playing the "GENDER DECK OF CARDS"...Bill day three by playing the "I'm the Former POTUS card"(oh, did we forget Chelsea)... and Obama will grace the stage on day four and spend the first half of his speech kissing their butts a bit more!

It's really sad and depressing.
