Whew!

Bill Clinton will reportedly have a speaking role at the Denver convention. Can someone explain why that was ever in question?

The letters thread is now closed.

@Uncle Fester (OT)

I've been meaning to ask you. Do you look anything like this?

@lateagain [OT] wandering ghosts electric

I've actually been wondering about WFB and Sugarman, a bit of an odd couple, as well as some other folks that I haven't seen about like little lord baltimore. Feel free to mention to WFB that his absence has been noticed. I wonder if the unschooler is still lurking about. She always seems to post longer after I should be asleep.

I've been thinking about DoloresFlower's obnoxious party. Can you imagine meeting in some convention room in Vegas with nametags like 'Fester'? It seems both funny and horrifying. But it would inject some reality into the process. Maybe some day there will be video feeds here, a scarier thought.

I'm officially off duty because I've only slept about two hours in the past 24...occasionally I get insomnia & am not so fun to be around until I take two tylenol pm & a shot of something, but I just wanted to say that in case you ever want to reach me you can reach me here

doloresflores_d@yahoo.com

I've already given it to uncle fester, aka smith and celia (and anyone else who reads here & bothers)...but just in case I do follow through with my plan to take a little break from these boards (or to further my evil plan to...) sigh. my nerves are too shattered to conjure up the serial killer amongst us concept without probably knocking down my chances for sleep. But I'll sign off with an image of Fester at a Vegas convention room with a "Fester" sticker on his lapel...

@Fester (OT)

The names do crack me up, like "I'd Rather Not Say" and "Won't Get Fooled Again," and "Zombie Warrior" and "zenhead" and "NY Shooter" and "Merry Christmas from Hell." God, those really would be funny on name tags.

I've wondered about the same people you mentioned. Juliebird too and many others who I can't remember right now.

I've thought a lot about online communities and have wondered about doing a project about them (for my capstone project for my master's degree). Like, Do people invest themselves honestly, If not then why not, Do they compromise family life for their online relationships, Do they become addicted, Are they hurt by posts, Do their jobs suffer, Do they ever meet in person, Do they change their minds as a result of online sparring, Do they go to the community to feel better when things at home are bad...

I think I can guess most of the answers, but it would be interesting to get some detail. I wonder how I'd go about it.

[OT] Fester, now and then

I'm definitely an old school Fester devotee (Jackie Coogan, I believe, over Christopher Llyod). But I think Raul Julia was a dynamite Gomez.

Other than that, I've managed to keep my hair and a mostly unfesterish figure. But I still share the same passion for self-illumination : http://www.addamsfamily.com/addams/fester01.jpg

P.S. I've seen Juliebird lately.

P.P.S I have to run. I'm supposed to get up early (yuch) and drive 6 hours for vacation.

If we did do the convention, I'd have to shave my head and dress like a benedictine.

@late again [OT] Online communities

Your project sounds interesting and I wouldn't mind chatting about it.

I already see differences between posters at Kos, Salon, Politico, Huffington, and of course, Wonkette. I'm dust on the road, but you (or any other kindred spirit) can reach me at teaparty1773 'at' gmail.com. My internet access will be iffy for a week or so (could be iffy or could be glorious). After that, we'll be back.

@flasher3838

Jesse Jackson didn't run in 1992, he ran in '84 and '88. Are you retarded?

Santos L. Helper, I was just checking in before signing off, enjoying the lateagain/Uncle Fester discussion, but I have to ask: Do you think your last comment helped win Obama support? I'm just curious.

Saturday, August 9, 2008 12:17 AM

Joan

I checked his previous comments first before posting, which I almost always do. This is one of the "impossible persons" we talked about upthread. Based on the Obama slurs, Obama supporter insults, etc. I'm not thinking this is anyone worth reaching out too. Sorry, but I'm getting tired of out and out lies based on ignorance passing as fact, ie. Saddam Caused 911, Obama played the race card, all Obama supporters "bash" Clinton mercilessly and without cause all the time for no reason, all Obama supporters are drooling cultists, all Obama supporters are sexist misogynists, etc.

Although, I should have used "idiot" instead, the word I chose is pretty un-PC and insulting to the mentally handicapped, so I apologize for that.

I think it's great but

Bill Clinton should be considered the best Republican President we've ever had.

From Joan Walsh

OK, Santos, I didn't mean to be an ass. There are just too many slurs flying around these threads, and yes, that was un-PC and cruel -- and you know that. Let's just try to be asses less frequently, all of us.

Bill Pulls A Fast One

Oh, lord, all this hand-wringing about Bill's ego, Hillary's PUMA misfits and the Decline of Western Civilization as we know it. It's so silly, because by the time November 4 rolls around and the debates are over, there isn't a Democrat in the country who will vote for John McCain. Obama's poll numbers ROSE 3 points after the Hilton ad, which few have bothered to report.

Bill Clinton is set to speak before the VP on Wednesday night. This means it's not going to be Richardson. Bill will want to set up the entrance of the future VP and he's not going to appear if the choice is someone who has stabbed him in the back. I think the Clintons know far more about Obama's VP plans than anyone thinks and conventional wisdom says that it will be Clinton's favorite, Evan Bayh.

I am beginning to think this has all been very carefully planned and that Bill will introduce Hillary as the VP...and, according to the script, the place will go nuts.

Streisand will appear, sing "Happy Days Are Here Again" and all is well in conventionland.
