Whew!

Bill Clinton will reportedly have a speaking role at the Denver convention. Can someone explain why that was ever in question?

@AKASmith

You really love and live to feud, Walsh postscripts her piece about dialouge and party healing, and all you can do is fuel own rank rotten mood.

@ doloresflower:

Fortunately clinton did not use this strategy but she was under constant pressure from her campaign manager to play against Obama for his race

Calling someone anti-American doesn't have to mean race. I've been hearing that one since I was old enough to pay attention to politics when I was about twelve.

The point is that Clinton didn't use Penn's suggestions to characterize Obama as anti-American, did she?

The point isn't about people pressuring the candidate. What makes a candidate with backbone is one who can resist the pressure.

You seem to want to argue a lot of old Clinton stuff. So does Hutman. Why should I care about good or bad stuff the Clintons did? I don't support Hillary anymore. I support Cynthia. Hillary Clinton is no longer running for office. It really amazes me how much Obama supporters still like to talk about Clinton. You all are the ones who can't let go of her. I've moved on.

Since Cynthia McKinney is unlikely to win, I don't have a horse in this race anymore -- or at least the only one I'm betting on is facing almost impossible odds. I don't expect her to win but I want to strengthen the position of the Green Party.

The point is that I believe Obama racialized the campaign in his own way and that The Memo was part of that. If anyone intially introduced race into the primary campaign, it was Obama.

rotten, misbegotten...

And irrationality besotted.

Really remarkable.

"I just wish that people could see him as a person. A candidate."

That's funny dolores! I guess he could drop out. Then he would no longer be a candidate and could return to being an ordinary person.

Really, none of who don't know him personally can really see him or any other candidate as just a person. In fact, they put themselve forward for fame and fortune -- although they always claim a devotion to service -- just so that they can be extraordinary rather just a person.

Did he hone all those fine speaking skills and the ability to change dialects and accents just so he could be "just a person?"

Unless you are Michelle Obama, who has said her husband is "just a man," how do you know that you are seeing him as "just a person." The whole point of a campaign is to present a winning platform and image.

Ugly, vindictive

All sense prohibitive.

@AKA Smith

You've really gone off the deep end tonight.

It really amazes me how much Obama supporters still like to talk about Clinton. You all are the ones who can't let go of her. I've moved on.

Yeah why would we talk about Clinton in a Joan Walsh piece about Clinton? That's just coo coo bananas!!

If anyone intially introduced race into the primary campaign, it was Obama.

If you keep saying it over and over, maybe it will make it so! Also, if you click your heels three times, you'll be teleported to Kansas.

BTW, are you Rain Man?

You're the foulest, most miserable, most incindiary person who posts on Salon. Your hate seems boundless. It's an interesting study, I admit. In my time here I've tried to reason with you, reason against you, I even tried once to get an honest opinion out of you devoid of the hateful pollution you pour into every sentence you write. All for naught. Short of Hillary ascending to Queendom over the world and the summary execution of all men, what makes you happy?

You're the reason I wish Joan would stop pining for a place for Hillary on the ticket.

Take a bath. Relax. You've got to be incredibly tense.

@ Dalivus

This is a public forum. Actually I am not complaining. I am merely expressing my opinion. I know that you don't really believe in that but it is called freedom of speech. It is mentioned in the First Amendment.

We have lots of nice rights. Freedom of speech. Freedom of religion. Freedom to assemble. Isn't it nice?

We also used to have a Fourth Amendment, but they are trying to do away with that. It's about privacy and if FISA had been restored at least to its original intent the government wouldn't be spying on Americans without probable cause and a warrant. If not for the telecom immunity, we might actually have been able to put some lawbreaking Republican scumbags in jail where they belong. Unfortunately, some very prominent Democrats have become complicit with the Republicans.

You're like Ahab and his whale, and without self blinded fail, the angry winds of your own ugly ego, will forever be the winds that propel your sails.

I totally agree with you.

Just who is it you think I hate? I certainly don't hate Obama. I just think he is a bit of a dud. I will probably always resent his going back on his promise to filibuster the telecom immunity. He had a chance to lead and he reneged.

However, I never hated him. I actually think he is a rather interesing sort. I'm reading his book, you know.

I just don't want to vote for him. I never thought he was qualified.

In my time here I've tried to reason with you, reason against you, I even tried once to get an honest opinion out of you devoid of the hateful pollution you pour into every sentence you write.

Really? I have hardly noticed you. Obviously I don't always have time to answer every post directed to me. Tonight I am feeling that revved insomniac mood I get sometimes.

Short of Hillary ascending to Queendom over the world and the summary execution of all men, what makes you happy?

I am happy already. I am actually enjoying myself.

As to Hillary, I never had trouble seeing her faults. I actually don't think she should run as Obama's VP even in the unlikely event he should ask her. However, knowing how many of her supporters feel, I suspect it would unify the party.

By the way, do you have some sort of reading problem?

You're the reason I wish Joan would stop pining for a place for Hillary on the ticket.

Me? Good heavens. I had no idea that I had assumed such importance in your life.

What does Joan's pining have to do with me?
