We now have 3 first posters writing vaguely similar things in the past ten posts. Looks like the GOP "ratfuckers" are out in earnest.
Ah well, this site deserves 'em. Good riddance. And try to find a way to relish Sen. Obama's victory in November. Trust me -- it's better than the alternative.
It's on for real with the rat fuckers. Troll town here we come!
for the emperor to sweep away the last remnants of the old republic.
Sadly Peter Cushing is no longer with us. I miss him too.
I think that Ms Walsh is being a bit harsh on Obama in this editorial. I am EXTREMELY disappointed in Obama's vote on the FISA bill. I am starting to wonder whether Obama is a one-term stop-gap president. My faith in him has slipped dramatically over this issue, but I still think that Ms. Walsh goes too far.
She mentions Obama's support of the Supreme Court decision on the 2nd Amendment. There is nothing new there. Obama said more than once during the primary season that he agreed with that misinterpretation of the Constitution. I strongly disagree with him on the issue.
As for the "partial birth abortion" issue, abortion is a tricky subject and a politician taking a nuanced stance on a minor sub-issue is not something to panic about. The law provides ample time for women who are mentally distressed by an unplanned pregnancy to get an abortion. The third trimester abortion is a brutal procedure that should only be used in the MOST extreme of cases. There is a big moral difference between terminating an early pregnancy and killing a child who is capable of surviving outside of the womb. Delayed buyer's remorse is not good enough. The argument that Ms Walsh is trying to make actually makes the Republican position on partial birth abortion seem more acceptable because her position is well down the slippery slope that Republicans were warning about.
As for her Clinton comments: Joan, you had come so far back into the reality based community. Don't retreat now. You say that We can't know that Hillary would have voted just like Obama did if she were the nominee. True, but then you make an equally unsubstantiatable claim that she learned her lesson from her war authorization vote. This is not only speculation, but ignores obvious evidence to the contrary- KYL-LEIBERMAN, 'nuff said.
What Obama did was wrong. I have contacted the campaign and let them know my disgust. I made it clear that my future support was not assured if the Obama that I helped make the nominee is not more clearly seen in Obama the nominee. No, Obama was never the great Progressive hope that he was made out to be, but Hillary was never a centrist/populist either. Criticize Obama for what he did, but keep the fantasy elements out of it, please.
I know how terribly HARD it must have for you to write this post.
After all-you've been SO terribly unbiased in your opinion during the primary season between O and HRC.
I applaud Hillary for voting against FISA.
I'm extremely disappointed in O's vote.
But do you really Joan, I mean REALLY think HRC would have voted no had she been the nominee?
Seriously?
You mean after her IWR vote and not the Levin Amend.--not to mention the Kyl-Leiberman and cluster bomb vote..she would not have voted no if the Dem nominee for political expediency like O did?
Careful, careful Joan...your sanctimonious HRC roots, O antipathies are showing a bit..
Thank you Joan. You always express my thoughts best. I am a liflong Democrat and am a Hillary supporter but will vote for Obama. I don't know whether to hope he is pandering or really just not as progressive as I hoped.
It's devastating to watch our great hope turn into our greatest disappointment!
Obama didn't even wait until he filled the huge stadium rented for his speech accepting the nomination! He didn't even wait until he was nominated to screw his most devoted and ardent supporters who fought for him through the primaries. That is betrayal as stark as any in our history.
Now Obama is revealed as just another politician for sale to the highest bidder who speaks from both sides of his face and who we can't trust to do the people's business. Not the people who earn less than $80,000, at any rate, and who happen to be the vast majority of citizens. Obama has shown his colors--another pol defending/supporting the rich and powerful, and screw the rest!
But the nomination is not yet his. I for one would like to see what Hillary is willing to do to restore this country and the majority of us to what we were and where we were going before this reign of the secret government, the Decider, and his cronies.
Maybe Hillary was right all along--Obama makes great speeches but hasn't the will or wisdom to carry out his lofty ideas.
I thought he taught Constitutional Law? What did he think he was voting for?
Deeply offended,
Luvalu
For the love of God! When will the left-wing ever learn? McCaskill, Webb and others voted for it. Mort Halperin, he of Nixon's enemies list, realized this wasn't the horror only seen in left-wing blogosphering. Guess what - Obama has said all along he looks for the best compromise to finally move the country forward from the morass of leftie/rightie politics. The bill can always be fixed when the Dems are a clear majority. Laws are always refined. Federal prosecution is still available in this bill. And most Americans who don't spend their days on the Internet or watching Walsh on CNN or MSNBC would say, "I've got nothing to hide." Let's win a damn election for once!
The circus comedy that constitutes the Obama campaign. This is a scenario that has repeated itself multiple times on other issues. On terrorism - Obama is asked a straight forward question on his anticipated policies to combat terrorism; and, he responds in an equally forward manner that he would handle the issue as a police action. The McCain camp immediately exploits Obama's naive response, correctly highlighting Obama's dangerous inexperience and lack of understanding of the gravity/complexity of the issue. Obama's handlers immediately haul him into the cloak room; advise him that his response was feeble and misguided; tell him what he should have said; and, send him back into the public forum, teleprompter in hand , to read his handlers prepared text on the latest version of his position. The Main Stream Media immediately chimes-in lauding Obama for what he meant to say on the issue all-along!
Unequivocally, Obama is the equivalent of a circus clown; a stand-up comic; a circus-barker attempting to lure the mentally-challenged into the tent with promises of an epiphany; a Charley McCarthy mannequin that appears to lip-sync the commentary from his ventriloquist controllers. This man is an virtual imbecile who is totally without the capacity to speak intelligently on issues on which he has not been previously programmed by his puppet masters. P.T. Barnum was right on target when he observed: "There's a sucker born every minute." ; but, hopefully the American electorate will not be duped by such a charlatan. Obama's long-term subversive associations, and his immersion in seditious anti-American diatribe of Black Liberation Theology have indeed revealed Obama as the real-life Manchurian Candidate.
