Betrayed by Obama

The Democrat's FISA sellout is unforgivable, but he's counting on supporters having no place else to go. And McCain's nutty neocon Iran talk helps him make his case.

The letters thread is now closed.

so, now what?

joan, thank you for saying exactly what every true obama supporter is feeling. We all know that come november our votes are going to obama over mcsame, yet i will feel ill when i pull that switch. it's one thing to cast a vote for someone who's obvious in their pandering(hillary), yet he gave me hope when i had none, hell he even made me cry with his words, and now i feel like a fool. that hurts more than anything else.

@docon

Going to sit this election out after this

I know that is very tempting but don't do this. Your vote can actually do some good if you vote for 3rd parties. They get enough votes and they gain more federal support and easier access to ballots, etc.

As for President, you can either vote 3rd party there (Cynthia McKinney, Nader, Barr) or you can simply abstain from that vote. Down-ticket, you could do as I intend: vote AGAINST Democrats. I will cast votes, top to bottom, for Greens and Libertarians, as they appear. In cases where there is no such choice, I will siply not vote in that particular contest.

Furthermore, the money I USED to send to the Democraps and various Democrapic candidates now goes to the EFF and the ACLU and to the forthcoming moneybomb against the criminal Democraps that voted for this gutting of the 1st and 4th Amendments.

Cast your votes for 3rd parties on the ballot, cast your vote for superior causes with your money...and convince anyone considering voting Obama and Democrap NOT to do so.

Campaign Failure

When Mr. Obama first began his backpedaling on this issue, I tried to contact his campaign.

In order to send an email requesting an explanation for this, I was required to sign up for the campaign newsletter. The response I received was to quote back to me the paragraph I had objected to in the first place.

This betrayal of our country's Constitution is indefensible. He's not the candidate yet. Can we contact the superdelegates and ask them to change their votes?

So when the politicians go for conservative votes and thus stab you in the back repeatedly, you just continue rewarding them.

In effect, you aren't just wasting your vote, you are ensuring your vote will never be anything but wasted by creating a system whereby there is absolutely zero incentive for any politician to ever pay any attention to you.

Meanwhile if anybody actually wants some positive change, you will whine about them wasting their vote or costing the moderately less evil Republican the election.

@Starrfish

Starfish asks: Why is "partial-birth" abortion a "despicable term of choice"? The procedure involves delivering a fetus until only its head remains in the birth canal, then cutting into the fetus's head to kill it, before crushing the skull and removing the fetus entirely.

Starfish, the appropriate and accurate medical terms are Intact dilation and extraction, intact dilation and evacuation, dilation and extraction, or intrauterine cranial decompression. These procedures are not only for fetuses that are viable outside the womb and are beyond the medical knowledge of OB/GYNs (the people the media frequently call "doctors who perform abortions" as if that is a medical sub-specialty).

The term partial birth abortion was made up by the "right." It is the equivalent of saying that you killed your family member by removing him/her for life support or that you had him/her murdered and then chopped to pieces by donating the organs.

Better than the other guy

If Obama's only selling point is "better than the other guy" then he's just John Kerry part 2. He was supposed to be much more.

@Klytus

Give it up. You cannot provoke me with your non-answers to the stone-cold facts: Obama, a so-called expert on the Constitution, voted 180 degrees in opposition to the clear words of that document. Obama now loves him some NAFTA (and more please!) Obama loves him some restrictions on women's rights. Obama loves him some Iraq war (no doubt, his words on Iran are as full of shit as he is and he will do the same old belligerant "US is an empire and will act like it" spiel if elected Dictator). Obama loves him some Churchy State rather than separation betwixt the two. Obama is a blatant liar...but you don't care, you just like the way he schmoozes and talks down to the black community.

Better to have a Liar in Chief as Obama than a Liar in Chief as McSame...for some magical/mystical reason. A liar is a liar is a liar. A corporatist is a corporatist is a corporatist. There are no differences and no value to one over the other. Except to you. You just like the way Obama lies and flip-flops or self-serves even though you are also a victim of his lies, flip-flops, and self-serving.

Progressive?

Supporting the constitution and wanting the Congress of the US to uphold its amendments is neither progressive nor liberal. Please tell all your friends who keep spinning Obamas flip-flop on FISA to stop painting those who support the constitution as radicals. It is your country too. You should be pissed.....

Betrayed by Obama

Joan, Welcome back, missed your informative articles. Yes, Obama betrayed his followers; however I am not included as I had many doubts about him from the first. As far as McCain, he is hopeless; therefore neither will get my vote. It is a shame that the American people are not offered a better choice than these two. As far as Obama getting the nomination; the press and news media did the dirty work for him by destroying Senator Clinton and that is a shame as she would have been a very good hardworking President and very capable. But as the old saying goes; people get the government they deserve.

@tempus

Third party voting is like casting your ballot into the toilet bowl, pulling the lever, and watching it swirl away into septic oblivion. Lots of luck with with your personal third party crusade. Tip a few windmills for me while you're at it.
