We 'won' an election. We Democrats took over both houses of congress in 2006 or don’t you remember?

This evening I’m utterly appalled at any Democrat who voted for this FISA bill including Obama. He will not get any more of my money. I’m not even certain I can hold my nose and vote for him after this. It was a really bad day for the Democratic party and for America.

Do you not understand that what you quoted was from back when he said he would filibuster telecom immunity? Today, he betrayed that promise. There was nothing wrong with the FISA court. It's been around forever. What Obama did today, weakens FISA and strengthens the executive branch.

He will clean it when he is president and has a governing majority.

I hope you are being sarcastic here. Otherwise, I must ask you this: Based upon what evidence are you making this assumption because what Obama did today should make you doubt that. Why do you assume that a man who cannot take a strong stand today will suddenly be strong after he is elected? Character is just not that mutable. Obama is showing us that we cannot trust his promises about something that is really important. This is much worse than pandering on a temporary gas tax repeal.

It isn't a matter of owning him. It is a matter of his own apparent betrayal of what he stated in the past to be his principles. I guess that makes him unprincipled.

This bill does not waive criminal liability.

Bush has the power to issue blanket pardons for any potential criminal liability. The president isn't allowed to excuse civil liability. Why do you think that Bush did not ask for a pardon of criminal liability? He knows he doesn't need it. However, I wonder if he wanted the immunization for civil liability because it would be during the discovery process that those suing telecoms would have their best shot at finding out what sort of spying actually went on and whether or not it violated current FISA law.

If Obama sticks with his plan, and pulls back from Iraq, it will have been worth voting for him. On other issues, neither has a darn clue.

The new FISA bill does NOT allow warrant less wiretaps without FISA court over sight. Have you read the new FISA law? The amendments that got defeated were all about the telecom immunity.

No. It's worse as I understand it because it doesn't demand that the president bring probable cause before beginning to spy upon people. He has a certain number of days to spy with impunity before he has to show cause.

The Obama followers sound like someone who wakes up after a one night stand and complains they thought it was "true love". Once he got what he wanted he moved on, you were good enough to get the nomination but now he wants to get the big prize.

The thing about selling out is it becomes addictive, you don't know where to stop just ask John McCain. It isn't that the liberal left has no alternative but Obama and the conservative right has no place to go but McCain it is that those of us in the moderate middle are stuck with these two Bozos.
