Glad you observed this as well.
I wonder if anyone will point this out to Dan. He'll deny it.
The irony, of course, is that the discussion was about sexism leveled at Clinton...and in the course of the discussion , we had a media moment of seeing a balck female commentator rendered invisible. They cut her out of the discussion because in their eyes it was apparent she had no standing.
Obviously the black woman was there for the same reason a potted plant is placed in a room, to provide nice scenery- a backdrop for the fuller setting.
Watch it. She never finished a sentence before getting cut off with the rolling of eyes and derisive and dismissive statements of the host and his side-kick.
They ganged up on her.

Here is Caputo, a white woman, shutting out and speaking over a black woman. This is a double - sexism and racism at play both in the same breath. What would Clinton have to say to that? Abrams is on steroids and cannot hear enough of his own voice.

Anderson Cooper
has had a better dialogue about media misogyny with 2 women who are calling Hillary's bluff and her refusal to blame herself for a badly run campaign and her less than pristine record on the war.

@nacazo again
I should have taken my own advice and read back on your posts. Obama is a secret Muslim, huh? And at the same time unduly influenced by a Christian minister daddy figure. Is it ad hominen to point out the, uh, incongruity there?

Sorry. A phone call interrupted my response to your message.
Not sure about the China Beach reference, however, clearly in terms of what I (and madamfauntleroy) saw and sensed, versus what you saw and sensed, we seem to be having a perception issue.
In fact, my comment was prompted by the coincidence in timing between my reading your initial comment regarding Dan and his guest and my nearly real-time observation of the dynamic I was watching on the program. I found the exchange on the tube curious..the juxtaposition of the topic with the respect afforded to one, but not another, guest. My perception; ergo, my reality.. Human dynamics.
We shall see.

With all the discussion of white working class..might Salon actually discuss class?
Class has a strange status here. It is only brought up in the horse race questions of how Obama can't connect. Might it be more interesting to focus on the difference of how each candidate defines the middle class and its implications?
Someone please tell me how Hilary's definition of middle class as 100-200K versus Obama's 75k isn't against the interests of the blue collar folk. Salon wants it both ways...Obama doesn't "get" the working class and Hilary does, which is meat for horseracing crap. If so please don't pull the moralistic crap. Especially after Hilary said screw the working blue collar folk back in the 90's.

WHY DO MEDIA TYPES CONTINUE TO SPEAK OF CLINTON'S VOTES AS FOR HER?
I forgot one of my most important points: That a good percentage of Clinton's votes may be from Republicans who are voting for her, in response to exhortations from right-wing media blatherers, who know she will have a harder time winning against McCain. She has done well, evidently, in previously Republian neighborhoods.
WHY IS THIS POSSIBILITY NOT MENTIONED? WHY DO MEDIA TYPES CONTINUE TO SPEAK OF HER NUMBERS OF VOTES AS BEING ABOUT HER?

Yes, it was one of those moments of slight suspended animation when you ask yourself if you're really seeing what you think you are seeing, and hearing what you think you are hearing...a bit of sensory overload.
Glad you were a witness, as well, even if no one else believes us.

Oops - Wrong Forum

The media and Dan Abrams would love for nothing more than Hillary to scorch and burn the Democratic National Convention in Denver. That would be ample air time fillers, the never ending drama of Hillary as victim and victimizer. Imagine the non issues being covered more than the war in Iraq, the economy, healthcare and education.
Frankly, the gutless super delegates really speak volumes about a spineless Democratic Party that needs to be uprooted and reinvented to its original promise.
-
let's hear it for superdelegates with backbones!!
madamfauntleroy, you speak truth.
It is clear at this point that the democratic party leaders are revealing their usual tendency toward timidity. They relly will allow the last dog to die if that is what Bill and Hillary desire.
By the way, Abrams' show is so bad he really does need to manufacture issues to keep the spin going- even more so than some of the other pundits. He seems to lack the ability to speak in any substantive manner about a range of issues. He merely begins to cross-examine/harrangue his guests in the artless heckler's manner he uses to show he's in charge. Bad television lawyering. Sheesh...
Speaking of lawyering (and my own judging, above), I do think Hillary Clinton will end up on the Supreme Court.
I think I'll go to Washington and try to observe the Democratic Party deliberations and debate on the 31st...I'll keep an eye out for the representatives without backbones...Ha!

Hey, how did we end up in this war with this deficit & this economy and without our civil liberties?
-
easy to believe you banyantree and madamfauntleroy
dan abrams ONLY sneers. why does he do it? i think he's at a loss of things to do on air. besides he has an ego deficit to overcome(his father was a famous first amendment lawyer). i don't watch him because i just can't stand him. worse than anybody. worse than matthews. worse than gregory. he APPEARS to favor Hillary, though he says it's just fair journalism. similar to you-know-who.

Thanks Joan, and look at NYTimes
Thanks Joan for again mentioning the revolting remarks being made about people from Appalachia. And there is an interesting article posted now in the New York Times which is a kick in the pants to all those who claim Appalachian people are uniquely ignorant and racist.
According to the Times a lot of folks are claiming that Obama is an Arab, or that he is a Palestinian, and that he works for al Qaeda. Plus many openly acknowledge they won't vote for him because is black.
Are these people poor, ignorant hillbillies? Nope. They are elderly Jewish people from south Florida.
