I'm sure glad all states in the union are not west virgina.
Did they travel that stae back in time decades? The good news is the country already choose it's candidates. Whether clinton leaves gracfully or not. She is mccain's vp. I've said ti before and I'll say it again. She is done as a democrat. She is liberman. She is mccain's vp.
And to those saying barack can't win the racist vote. Maybe true. He may not win west virgina, or other southern states. He makes up for it elsewhere. He makes up for it by getting states with high african american's. He makes up for it by putting states in play the normal dem's cannot. Give mccain west virgina and pa. Obama will make up for it elsewhere.

It's a national town-gown divide.
"How'd you like to be told you're not smart enough to vote right?"
Someone posted that way back, and it is very to the point. That is why the liberals and progressives have been losing elections for the past 30 years and more. Because they don't speak to the working class. Too many of them look down on them. If you think there isn't a very large subset of supposed urban intellectuals and professionals (half of them are watching American Idol or some other appointment TV, not re-reading Joyce) who don't look down on those poor benighted white trash...ugh!...well, you are either living in a bubble or you are one of them.
I live in College Student National Park (aka Boston). I see this young cohort and their 20- and 30-something elders constantly, so I know whereof I speak. It's a national town-gown divide.
I grew up in a semi-rural district, and I know that if you give those folks the air, they're just going to turn around and give you the finger. "You think you're so much better than me? Well, fuck you." It's not that hard to understand.

You funny Joan. :)
Nice touch with that kos diary. "Don't alienate these people". I hear you. sorry for being a hypocrite. Yet, I didn't think they would vote for hillary by 40 points, after she already lost, I didn't think the white vote would go 70-30, and i didn't think 20% would ADMIT they won't vote for a blak man.
At some point you have to hold people accountabile for their words and actions. Willful ignorance is the worst. these people are livign decades in the past. Would be fine if they were theyir own country. And embarresment. We represent democracy to the world. last night was an embarressment not only to american democracy but our world-wide image. I look at the big picture. West virgina was a joke. the only bigger joke was her winning new hampshire afer she cried. As a former army infantry soldier, I don't think these people realize the severity of their votes and actions.
Good lcuk and God bless Joan. I saw the nod, and acknowledge it. Please forgive me for what I feel I must do.

Hmmmmm
Well, Joan, I guess the sargument isn't what you thought it was. When did CV start to over ride good reporting? Of course these numbers will change as the GE gets into gear.
Poll: McCain Beats Obama And Hillary By Equal Margin Among Working Class Whites
By Greg Sargent - May 14, 2008, 11:14AM
There are some key numbers buried in the internals of today's Quinnipiac poll that go some way towards deflating Hillary's claim that she would outperform Obama against McCain among working class whites.
It finds that McCain beats both Hillary and Obama by an identical margin among working class (no college) white voters.
Among these voters, McCain beats Obama 46%-39%.
And McCain beats Hillary 48%-41%.
That's a seven point spread in both cases.
What's more, the poll also finds that both lose to McCain by an equal margin of seven points among whites overall.
Of course, Hillary's argument is also about who would fare better among these voters in the big states in particular, and this is only one poll.
Nonetheless, there's no getting around the fact that the above numbers are difficult to square with a central aspect of her basic argument.

Re - Bending over for the Republicans
Don't worry, after John McCain wins the election in November and these poor West Virginians are again taking it up the ass from the Republicans, I'm sure they'll still proudly be proclaiming how they'll never vote for a black guy.

Nice homophobic comment.
Is that why Obama had to be shamed into meeting with the editors of the Philadelphia Gay News?

The wrongheadedness is too much
I wanted to stay away from this ongoing swift-boating of Hillary Clinton by the Obama campaign, but when ignorant people lump the Clintons with McCain and Bush I cannot stay silent.
People on this thread have said that Clinton is just like Bush (and McCain), and that they are just as responsible for the current mess as those two. Well the people that say that must be the either the most ignorant or the most dishonest people in the Democratic Party. If, indeed, they are Democrats. And if they are just Republican shills, I do not care, either way they are the epitome of stupidity.
I will just put in my humble opinion. The type of hateful thinking towards the Democrat's most successful family in 50 years is no way to buld a Party. If Obama gets in, maybe he will be rewarded at the end of his term with the same hateful disrespect as some of his supporters have heaped on the Clintons.

25%, excuse me
"Nice touch with that kos diary. "Don't alienate these people". I hear you. sorry for being a hypocrite. If 25% admit they won't vote for a black man, the real number is double that. Is that america? Is that "out of many we are one".
If these republcains are not americans then, what are they? did the gop establish a monarchy on american soil I don't know about? The gop are no longer americans as they choose party over nation. If you don't love america's freedoms and democracy yoru not an american. Just fascists living here.
to surrond oneself with crazy people, like them, does not make one any saner. Quite the contrary
