Joan's lack of blogger ethics.
"There was no transcript of that segment of the hour available when I posted" - then you shouldn't have summarized what she said, the context would have made sense without it.
Or you could have waited until it was available. As it was, you provided NO LINKS to where you got this transcript or to the original video.
That's not ethical blogging, that's posting before thinking, something Joan does a lot.

Don't have the stomach to write about yesterday's primary results, Joan?
Pardon me, Joan, but wouldn't it be more appropriate to write about the results of yesterday's NC/Indiana primaries instead of this "Brazile-Begala Smackdown" twaddle? I mean, something rather important transpired yesterday. Has it left you in denial? Has it left you under the bed sheets in the fetal position?
You see, Obama now leads Hillary by 700,000 in the popular vote, "obliterating" any gains she made in Pennsylvania. In fact, his margin of victory (more than 230,000) was even larger than the amount Hillary won Pennsylvania by (about 215,000).
So much for Hillary's popular vote argument.
And in Indiana, Hillary's slither of a lead netted her a paltry 18,444 votes -- possibly the thin margin Republican mischief was able to muster behind Rush Limbaugh's Operation Chaos.
In addition, since the Pennsylvania primary two weeks ago, Clinton has picked up 11.5 superdelegate endorsements to Obama's 22, according to an Associated Press count.
Oh, and did I mention that Hillary is not just out of money, but very much in debt?
See a trend here, Joan? One worth writing about? Perhaps, once you're feeling yourself again, you could craft an article called, "Hillary is Toast."
As I wrote to you back on April 26th, "...after the North Carolina and Indiana primaries on May 6th, your beloved Hillary will begin her final downward spiral, greased by her own lies, racism and duplicity. It will be delicious."
And so it is.

Bitterness in the ranks
While the candidates attempt to rise above the fray for the sake of decorum, their former aides are going at it tooth and nail. The Begala-Brazile smackdown was happening last night on Larry King Live, too, except with Lanny Davis in the role of defensive Clinton supporter--pouting, sniping and whining to Anderson Cooper and John King. It was pathetic.
Sad to see the former Clinton lions left to wander in a delusional house of mirrors waiting for the Clinton dynasty to reign supreme.

Black (and Blue Collar) Is Beautiful
Props to Donna. Regardless of whether one prefers her to Begala, it is *so* nice to hear someone acknowledge that blue collar Black people exist! If you listen to folks ranging from Bill Cosby (who couches his Black "tough love" speeches to his race in economic terms.....e.g., "the lower income people", as Cosby puts it) to Pat Buchanan, you would think that there was a small echelon of highly successful Blacks and that the remainder of us spend our days smoking crack, drinking 40's, eating watermelon, and blaming White people for all of our problems. Guess what? There are Blacks who mop floors, do oil changes, drive buses, wash dishes, and change bed pans....all without breaking the law or blaming White people for anything. They deserve as much respect and acknowledgement as blue collar Whites deserve.

those awful Hillary supporters...
""Hillary supporters have called Michelle Obama a 'ball breaking black bitch', but Obama supporters have said that Hillary should drop out and drop out sounds like faint and faint has sexist implications, so why are Obama supporters so sexist and why don't I delete more of their posts?"
I wonder when the Michelle Obama "nutcrackers" will be at an MSNBC airport store near you.

Typical double-standard
This exchange is typical of the racial double-standard in this campaign. Despite leading in states, votes and delegates, Obama is repeatedly asked whether he can win over the kind of working class whites who haven't been a core constituency of the party for decades. Nobody ever asks why Hillary can't get more than 10% of the black vote anywhere, or how a Democratic candidate is supposed to win the general election without the support of African Americans. It's just assumed whites support Hillary on the issues, but blacks support Obama because of race. Nevermind that Hillary initially enjoyed huge support among African Americans until she and her husband decided to throw them under the bus with their not-so-subtle Southern strategy.

Joan- Fair Enough
For the record, I did initially read your summary of the prelude to the debate between Begala and Brazille. It was very brief and I might have missed its actual import prior to writing my earlier letter.
I just re-read your posting, and it does provide a fair, but rather truncated, summary of Brazille's remarks ias the lead-in to the exchange.
Thanks for the explanation of why a transcript of this part of the debate was not provided.

Joke Walsh strikes again
On the night when Hillary's campaign received its coup de grace, Joke choose to write about this. I have to believe there are staffers at Salon who are embarrassed by their "editor." What an idiot.
-
"My constant hammering of Obama is making him a stronger candidate" -- Joan Walsh
Is that going to be tomorrow's headline here at Salon?
Might be!
But it's today's headline over at Salon: The Parody. In our story, Joan Walsh shares why she personally is responsible for Barack Obama's resurgence as the Democratic front-runner.
Also, don't miss "5 Things," and Joan's realization that the real sexist is...could it be...Hillary Clinton?!
Link's in the sig or google "Salon parody"

Joan, stop it
There was no real blow up. Maybe a little tense, but no blow up. Stop exaggerating. Stop trying to drive the wedge deeper in our party. I watched that exchange on CNN, and you impression is flat out wrong.

Egg heads? Okay that's ENOUGH RIGHT THERE
This new Democratic "anti-elitism" of Hillary Clinton is sounding more and more like the old paranoid anti-intellectualism of Richard Nixon.
Next thing you know, they'll be ranting about Jewish psychiatrists trying to legalize marijuana for homosexuals.
This Nixonian nonsense has to stop.
The Democratic Party is supposed to value education. Isn't that one of our values?
Talk about sending mixed messages to kids about the value of an education!
-
THE NEW DEMOCRATIC PARTY?
HARDLY! THESE EGG-HEADS LEFITES AND ELITIST BLACKS ARE JUST THE MORE RECENT GENERATION OF THE OLD DEMOCRATIC PARTY. Don't be confused.
If memory serves me,Donna Brazile mismanaged another egg-head's election in 2000 - another egghead nominee that failed to see or understand the relevence of working-class attitudes: Al Gore. She has about as much rapport with Joe and Jane Six-Pack as Barack Obama does - which according to recent exit polls is practically none!
How comical watching Begalia and Brazile, both elite party insiders, trying to "out Budweiser" each other. Nope, the struggle here is nothing more than one elitist group's dominance over another elitist group for control of the Party for little more than book deals, fat-feeding at the trough, and more face-time on CNN, MSNBC, and yes, FOX. Nothing will change for millions for Americans if Barack Obama is elected President. He is not their new best friend - he is his own best friend.
I'm also sick of the egg-heads in the Democratic Party treating the black voting block of the Democratic Party as "children" and only THEY have answers for all their social ills. Their so-called "answers," which are nothing more than a continuation of failed funding programs for over 40 years now that do little more than further disenfranchise this group of Americans, reinforce their victim mentality, and produce such dismal results that no one in their right mind would continue to keep funding these programs except THEM!
And I'm equally tired of the elitist blacks in the Democratic Party, who have perpetuated these institutionalized funding bureaucracies their own personal domains for their own advancement, status, agendas, and position while the majority of black Americans are given nothing more than nice platitudes by the Obamas of the Party - and hate sermons by the Afro-Centric Jeremiah Wrights.
If there is a so-called race problem in America it is as much the fault of those Democratic Party egg-heads and elitist blacks who have institutionalized poverty and exploited black Americans for their own gain, status, power, and wealth than any single Republican that has come down the pipe for the last 40 years!
As long as the left-wing eggheads can blame Republicans for the plight of poor black Americans, and elite black Americans conveniently step all over their black brothers and sisters for a spot at the top of the bureaucratic heap, the Democratic Party will not heal - and it will NOT continue to exist.
Did you hear the one about the black state House Minority Leader whose husband, another former black elected official, is now a lobbyist for the pay-day loan industry - only registered in another state to probably help conceal his advocacy? Can you think of a more cynical way to make money than quietly off the backs of the very constituents that you are supposed to represent?
Let them eat cake - and drink the kool-aid - with Donna Brazile and Barack Obama and Jeremiah Wright and all the left-over hippie bomb-makers who give them a buck.
Sure, Barack Obama is going to change Washington, D.C. Sure, they are what they've been waiting for. Sure, they are the new Democratic Party. And you know what? They can have it.
