Brazile and Begala
Begala is a Clinton partisan, but looking at the exchange can anyone really doubt that Brazile has been an Obama partisan all along despite her avowal as an undeclared superdelegate? Sure, Brazile has been tick off by Begala's and other Democrats for taking granted that the black votes will stay democratic, and that taking granted of African-Americans and liberal intellectual votes is insulting. I am sure that a significant portion of AA community will sit out the election if Obama failed to get the nomination, and some liberals will desert to Green Party if Hillary gets the nomination. As HRC on her sort of victory speech in Indiana said that she will work for the Democratic nominee, essentially sending a signal she sensed her cause is lost even though she will complete the primaries.
I was not an early supporter of HRC, yet I share many of the resentments of her supporters. To me the whole idea of post-racial campaign was an ingenuous lie, the whole campaign is anything but post-racial. Obama is a new comer to Washington. He built the whole campaign on his oratorical skill and the fact of his race, though his campaign was very skillful by avoiding the whole topic until Wright controversy. The fact he got 90% of AA votes and HRC with her record got 8% is itself a fact of race as much as whites voting for HRC, which may yet haunt Obama in the general election, and I am sure Republicans will exploit regardless of McCain's disavowal. HRC's standing on Iraq War is essentially no different, yet she made the strategic mistake on failing to apologize or kowtow to the antiwar groups which cost her dearly. AA is about 10% of population but closer to 25-30% of democratic voters, with the additional 20% of the liberal votes plus 15% of young voters HRC really have no chance. Some faulted her for not running a dignified race on issues, but really do anyone think she has any chance except gracefully concede if she run that type of race against someone with Obama's verbal skill and underlining race card? As for the youth vote I have even less respect that for 5 years the youths ignored Iraq and was mostly concerned with Youtube.
Giving the Bush legacy I do not doubt that Obama and the democrats will sweep the November election. It remains to be seen whether he will be a transformative figure or just another ambitious politician that disappoints. I will be looking forward to all the articles and posts after his honeymoon is over.

It is rather telling
That Begala is talking about "Eggheads" in this whole thing - a slur identified as being used primarily by stupid people who want to insult people who have actually gotten out of the gutter, studied and done something with their lives.
That is the heart of how the blue collar Clinton supporter Democrats see educated people - as being worthless.
If you want to tell your kids that they can grow up stupid, that they should avoid going to college, that actually listening to what experts have to say about the subjects they study - vote Hillary.
That is the central message she is selling you, education is bad. Working hard and getting a degree is for that specific breed of devil spawn called "Latte Liberals." Actually doing anything proactive yourself to improve your living standard in America by say, becoming qualified for something more than being a factory worker, makes you a dirty "Elite."
This is the message that the Republicans sold too, and it is the message that the Hillbots - those Hillary supporters who use Republican slurs for members of their own party, have bought.
If you don't want your kids to live lives that go nowhere, if you want your kids to succeed, do you really want to sell them this message too?

He coldn't close the sale. Now it's on to West Virginia and Kentucky. And we get to hear more Obama follower whining.

Great Post xeroid 47
Thank you. Your post was great. If Obama does get the nomination and the presidency, I will sit back and see how close to Jimmy Carter's presidency it resembles. One could tell what Bush's presidency was going to be like by the people surrounding him (i.e. Cheney, James Baker, etc.) My husband finally and reluctantly said that I had Bush pegged from 1999. I had told him that if Bush was elected, we would be at war within two years. It was a year and a half. I told him he would try and implement all his religious stuff, etc. This time around, I have been less vocal, but seeing the people that surround Obama, it doesn't look too good. Yes, they are accomplished people, but . . . . Also, with the younger people supporting him, they seem to have a sense of entitlement and a right for him to be president because they were inspired. With age comes humility and maturity.
On an aside, Ms. Brazile stated that she was tired of hearing
"my party, my party." At the Denver Assembly, when the Obama supporters didn't like the rules and wanted them changed, I saw and heard a man supporting Obama get up on the stage and say, "I want my voice heard. This is about my future." I was flabbergasted. I thought this is about the future of our country and our families. So, the "my party" comes from both sides.

Two Halves Of A Whole
Forgive me for being "Captain Obvious", but, aren't we looking at two halves of a whole here? Its not conservatives versus liberals, as in Republican versus Democrat, but, it is a division within the Democratic party itself. That is the fracture, as it were.
Barack Obama pulls blacks, ultra-libs, yups, younger and the well-educated; Hillary pulls the Reagan-Democrats, working-class, many whites, older and the more conservative element within the party. That, to me, looks a helluva lot like two sides of a whole that is our party.
The Republicans claim to be the "Big tent" party, but, are so narrowly-constricted that, unless you are a born-again-pro-life-anti-gay-pro-gun-God-squad member ...you do NOT fit in. We, as Democrats, have a diversity that makes us stronger..usually. Now, we have to bring those two diverse halves together to appeal to BOTH sides of our party.
Can it be done? Will the rifts heal? The Republicans are rubbing their nasty paws together in anticipation of us NOT being able to bring both halves into synch. They might well be right.
