I think so too
My cousin has something to do with the Gates foundation, and I think there are some very progressive ideas at work there.
Your point is my point, much more efficiently put. Democrats don't need to be against intelligent economic policy. It's one of the reasons I like Obama.

@healthisnation
First of all: I didn't know you responded to my post at all. I woke up, took a piss, and saw that Joan had answered my question about her time on the show. I guess that is the rough thing about this comment section; stuff can rather easily get lost behind the cracks....
It wasn't until I started hang out with you folks here that I even heard the word "troll"...I'm not certain I am clear about it, but I guess it has to do with presenting an opinion you really don't have so as to paint a particular person or issue in a negative way.......Is there something else about it.
I did not know Joan had addressed you on what you posted. I read comments about her using the word "creepy toll" but I was unclear what she was talking about. The one thing I remember is that when I read her use of those words, I didn't get the impression she was referring to a specific individual, but that was just my fly by...
to be clear with you: my little joke about people waking up to attack joan was not directed at you. Look, I have no problem that people jump into this blog in the morning and get serious and ask Joan and each other strong, clear questions. I obviously have had no problem sharing with Joan my frustrations and questions related to how she covers the primary. I try to make my frustration be clearly aimed at ideas, not personalities.
So I didn't read your morning post, but it sounds like you took issue with Joan and didn't call her bad names, and didn't pretend she is source of all evil and didn't make sure she knew that she was ruining your day...none of that. My liitle joke post was really poking at all of us, including Joan (to the degree that ever give way to much weight to each other's flaws) but mostly playing with those people who really do honestly start hating other writers who don't agree with them.
Sorry that it seemed like i was responding to or referring to you. And I really appreciate you responding to my question about the show. I'll check it out. Thanks.

correction from Joan Walsh?
The transcript posted by Green Job at Wednesday, May 7, 2008 12:17 PM makes it clear that Joan's paraphrase of Donna Brazile's comments, in the introduction to her story, is inaccurate and misleading. Donna didn't suggest that Democrats can rely on young voters and urban voters INSTEAD of white working-class voters and Hispanic voters, she said IN ADDITION. This is totally different and undermines Joan's entire article. I wonder if it is too much to ask that, now that the transcript is available, Joan write a correction and an apology for getting it wrong. People make mistakes, but they should be willing to admit them.

From Joan Walsh
DaviddesJ, not sure what you're talking about. Here's what I wrote:
The transcript below doesn't capture what Brazile said to tick off Begala: She suggested Barack Obama might not need to worry so much about the white working-class and Latino voters that are going with Hillary Clinton, because behind Obama, the party is being remade by young voters, urban voters and suburban voters.
"might not need to worry so much" is a pretty good paraphrase of what she said, given that I was writing before the transcript was available.
Unfortunately the Hardball transcript still isn't up: They're listing May 7, but it's actually May 6! I do feel justified in challenging Chris (and the lovestruck MSM generally) about about how uncommonly clean both the Obama and McCain campaigns will be, given their faceoff today about whether McCain is "losing his bearings." Watch for their matchup to get nastier.
artieshawjr, classy post as always. Joe Conason has a great column tonight criticizing Clinton for her bewildering comments about hardworking Americans, which seemed to identify them as white. I'll be writing about it tomorrow. Still, no need to call her a slut.
I really only had a couple of people in mind when I suggested there might be Republican trolls posing as Clinton and Obama people, and you know who you aren't.

Sorry, HealThisNation, I meant to address you too: Click on the link under my name, which takes you to all my letters, and then come back and tell me I don't engage with readers. I challenge you to find any editor in chief of any Web site or publication like Salon who engages more. I admit I did give up for a few days last week because of the dispiriting unfairness and bad faith I saw in several threads, and there are definitely several people I don't read or reply to anymore. But I'm in here an awful lot, and I still have faith in the intelligence and basic decency of our readers, even (most of) those I disagree with.

@ Joan Walsh: Don't Give Up On Hillary Clinton
First off Joan, you do not have to explain to some of these bloggers what you have being doing with your time during the day.
Unfortunately, there are so many bullies on these blogs that they think they have the right to talk down to people. It is the doom of what may be to come, which is very upsetting.
Your comment within one of you replies stated the following: "I do believe Clinton is near the end, and I want to think about what happens next."
Well, as a Hillary Clinton supporter I am again disappointed to again hear from someone in the media that this is the case.
Since when is Obama the one who qaulifies for the nomination? The last time I looked Hillary Clinton would be in the popular vote lead with Florida and Michigan.
I am also sick of hearing that if the nomination is taken away from Obama that all the black people will start rioting in the streets. I still can't believe the media states this and why do people believe the nomination would be taken away from him, since he is the one not allowing the votes in Florida and Michigan?
Obama is the one taking the nomination away from Hillary Clinton, since he is the one who does not want the votes in Florida and Michigan counted.
All supporters of Hillary Clinton should not give up on her. She has worked hard and long for this position and I will be damned to see it go to a person who has no experience and started campaigning for the presidency only after being in the US Senate for 200 days.
Again women give up on one another and again we will be the third class as we were for voting rights.
I believe it is time for all women to support Hillary Clinton as the 90% black population did for Obama in North Carolina.
I am sure I will have my paragraphs policed by the irate crowd of Obama bloggers, but this is how I see it and the democratic nominee should be Hillary Clinton.
