Is Obama's coalition just "eggheads and African-Americans"? Is Clinton's emphasis on "Joe and Jane Sixpack" excluding black blue-collar Democrats? A frank exchange of views on CNN.
  • Typical double-standard

This exchange is typical of the racial double-standard in this campaign. Despite leading in states, votes and delegates, Obama is repeatedly asked whether he can win over the kind of working class whites who haven't been a core constituency of the party for decades. Nobody ever asks why Hillary can't get more than 10% of the black vote anywhere, or how a Democratic candidate is supposed to win the general election without the support of African Americans. It's just assumed whites support Hillary on the issues, but blacks support Obama because of race. Nevermind that Hillary initially enjoyed huge support among African Americans until she and her husband decided to throw them under the bus with their not-so-subtle Southern strategy.
