...was what you Clintonistas so crudely call a "disciple," of course Carville later called him a "Judas."
Who's running the real cult here?
I mean is Clinton a Kooky Christ figure of some kind?
I don't speak for Obama.
You know the famous saying.. "I never voted for anyone, but I've voted against lots of people."
People who profit from war are immoral. People who are anti-labor, immoral. Racist. Immoral. Sexist. Immoral. Haters. Immoral.
I am not perfect. I'm immoral. But I know a loser when I see it, and I protect my balls. And the best way to not have my balls blown up is to not have blood thirsty mobs of avenging whomever we bomb and exploit and kill and rob coming after me, in my nice apartment, on my nice hill, with my nice view, my macbook, my flat screen. That's what's important to me: me.
So, do I vote for the crazy man who wants to bomb a country that has done nothing to us, or the cynical and conniving little schemer who says she wont, she promises, fingers crossed behind her back, or do I vote for the guy who, in a speech before we even went into Iraq said: "guys, this is a bad idea."
And it was. And in a perfect world, we'd all give each other teddy bears and back-rubs and Dennis Kucinich would be president and the Browns would win the Super Bowl and the sky would rain candy.
So, I make a choice. I choose to support the guy who is least likely to get some zealot coming for my balls. Its a gamble, but, I can reward someone else's good qualities even if I lack them myself.
Now, I think you're an asshole Kate, and I'm sure you think I am one too. But the difference between you and I is that I'm right and you're stupid.
because shes winning now
Millions of strong women know that NATURAL CHILDBIRTH easily trumps testicular fortitude hands down. We just need a name for this amazing level of female courage, strength, endurance -and yes, fortitude.
Top ten reasons why the gas tax holiday is a lot like the decision to wage war against Iraq
1.Political expedient decision that will play well with Reagan Democrats and assorted "low information" voters.
2.No thought given to the aftermath of the decision. (Bridges, roads who needs them? I want my $30 now)
3.No thought given to what happens if the decision does not give us the intended results. (Oh let me think, if the oil companies were greedy what is stopping them or the gas station owners from raising the price of gasoline and getting the money themselves rather than pass the savings on to the consumer?)
4.Pandering to a group that is in need and providing them with a quick fix that is psychologically appealing but without substance.
5.Puts the nation more at risk and worse off than before. (Like we need more incentive to increase our dependence on oil.)
6.Does not address the underlying problems that create this situation. (Terrorism? Oh let's attack someone that we don't like, rather then deal with the one that we should deal with and is difficult to get.)
7.Utter lack of fortitude to deal with the difficult problem that we have. Going for the easy, low hanging fruit, that does not address the problem. (CAFE standards anybody?)
8.Leaves us with even less money to address problems and increases the national debt.
9.Hurts those people that we claim we are there to help.
10.Action over effectiveness. Heat over light. Short term fix over long term solution.
Just in case you thought that the Iraq War vote was a once in a lifetime thing.
"But the difference between you and I is that I'm right and you're stupid."
That was a joke from the (out of print) far right handbook, unless I miss my guess.
Kate,
Sure, I'll call foul if I'm on the board when it heats up. The insults you listed would offend anyone. And for what it's worth, I'm a woman and I have a heightened reaction myself to insults which are aimed at women as women.
At the risk of making things worse instead of better let me make an informed guess about the unstated content of these exchanges that leave you battered and abused. You post something pro-Clinton, but perhaps without a lot of supporting detail. Obama supporters, perhaps unfairly, are not so sold on the transparency of Clinton supporters.
Let's look at why. Some Clinton supporters are voting on gender, and this group tends to be forthright about why this is the issue that matters to them. I think this is a terrible reason to vote for anyone, but it's a free country.
Some Clinton voters support her on experience. Obama supporters sincerely do not understand this. We just don't, and I'm not trying to start an argument so please don't take it that way. Obama people look at Clinton and don't see experience: they see a long marriage to a man with a lot of experience. So we are just not seeing the experience thing.
Here comes the bad part. Some Clinton supporters can't quite identify what it is about Obama that they don't like, but even though they have a hard time understanding it or explaining they don't like him and wouldn't vote for him under any circumstances. Some of these people are no doubt innocent of malice: there is a kind of person who just likes the familiar. Others are nostalgic: the 90's were nice, let's get some more of that.
But some people in this last group have a less lovely thought. Some of them, and I am not accusing you of being one of them, dislike or distrust blacks. These are the people who begin their posts by saying they knew he was a trick or a phony, a black man pretending to be a decent and honorable man when all along he was no better than, you know, the rest of them.
Obama supporters have had a rough couple of weeks with this last group, because the Wright controversy has made these people feel as if what had been plain to them from the beginning - no black man could really be all that, there's a trick here - must now be plain to everyone else.
Hence the label, which I agree should not be hurled at Clinton supporters just because they like a candidate we don't get.
Enjoy your election, and I hope your candidate runs a very close...second.
