  • I wonder if we will be spared a Wright "post-denunciation" media tour ...

will his "first exclusive" be CNN, MSNBC or some other outlet ...

I can only hope he declines ...

  • @ doloresflower

I'm not a McCain supporter, so I don't really care about his wacko ideas.

Do you think that Hilary Clinton's idea of freezing interest rates is as bad and/or ineffective as some economists say? Do you approve of her language choice when speaking of "obliterating Iran"?

Those are election-year lies, just like Obama's hope-talk. So why support one over the other? Hillary is more int facts, numbers, wokish policy debates, Obama is into the cult of his personality and vague calls for hope. I know where I'll put my money to run the country better.

  • Don't get it

OK, I went over to the Times web site, and I listened to 48 minutes of the Reverend Jeremiah Wright speaking to the Press Club. I really didn't know what to expect.

You can attack me, you can put me in whatever far-left worse-than-communist camp you want, but

I can't see what the problem is.

I found him inspiring, witty, wise, collected, and kind of brilliant. He said that while he served six years in the marines, some of those who have attacked his patrriotism avoided military service - who can argue with that? He expounded a cynical view of the historical actions of the US government, a view I happen to share. In every case relating to race relations he kept reconciliation the foremost point. He brought up a lot of contextual points that were edited out of the Moyers interview. And when someone asked him if Christianity was the only route to heaven, whether Islam was a false religion, and he quickly and confidently answered, "Jesus said, 'There are many sheep not of my fold,'" I found myself applauding and shouting for joy alone in my office. This is someone Obama should be ashamed of? Forget Obama, I want to vote for Wright.

Should I mention that I am a pure WASP originally from the South?

  • Is THAT racist?

The suggestion that a black man or woman is "caught in" an "historical predicament?"

I can't see my hand in front of my face!

BUT... if HRC takes us into a war with Iran because of this crappola with Wright, every soul who fanned the flames of this distraction will have blood on their hands.

Remember how it was a big serious issue that Gore was a liar?

  • Obama put that nappy headed negro Rev.Wright in his place today..Obama's grandma would be proud

Obama's actions today was deporable and unforgivable.. Obama's wicked comments about the Sean Bell verdict was also unforgivable and confirms at the end of the day we have a BI-RACIAL man not a BLACK man..

A dead negro is a good negro..one wonders if Obama's granny thought like that as well..

  • @AKA Smith -- Bah! AKA Smith has drank the Lipton Iced Tea!

AKA Smith: "Bah, Hutman! Here you seem to have drank the Kool-Aid."

It's a funny thing about you, Smith. One minute you seem all calm and reasonable. The next minute you're spouting cliches about "Kool-Aid" based on the tiniest of infractions.

AKA Smith: "Hillary is obviously so much better at debate."

I didn't say anything about Obama being better than anybody else. The original statement, by another poster, was that Obama can't speak fluently without reading something. I was responding to that -- not saying that Obama is the greatest debate opponent since Spencer Tracy.

AKA Smith: "If Obama is so good at debate, as you say he is, he should accept her challenge for a free form debate."

This is an argument for another forum, but Obama has his reasons for declining the invitation. First of all, it's painfully obvious that the entire challenge is Clinton's desperate ploy to make a last-minute comeback. Secondly, they've been in something like 20 debates together, so it's not like Obama has backed down from a challenge. Third, there's nothing new that would be revealed by another debate -- we know their positions and arguments and styles and rhetoric. Finally, it is clear to anybody paying attention that Hillary is not interested in a real debate, about issues of importance to regular Americans, but in an opportunity to mock and discredit Obama in whatever ways she think will win her points: whether it's "Change you can Xerox" or "Your gas-tax proposal is full of hot gas!" (not an actual quote). And, on top of all that, I am not convinced that Obama would necessarily lose a free-form debate with Clinton. He'd probably do just fine. Though he wouldn't be slingin' the zingers like she would....because you just know that Clinton would have bucketsful of zingers ready to throw like darts at every opportunity, hoping to hit a bullseye like a shot-slamming bar hopper.

AKA Smith: "Obama is good at interviews if his interviewers are kind to him. He is a stunningly good speech-deliverer. At press conferences, not so much."

Obama has his ups and downs. He sometimes speaks haltingly, looking for the right words to express what he means. But this can work in his favor, as he doesn't end up having to repeat himself. What is your take on Hillary Clinton's speaking style? To me, she tends to go around and around, and I think she "loses" people in wheel-spinning verbiage sometimes. Other times, she's better. At times I have admired her. No doubt she's formidably intelligent.

AKA Smith: "Just a word of warning: McCain relishes debate. He may have that whiny voice but he is great off the cuff. He is simple and direct. Simple and direct in debate is not Obama's forte."

Huh? Obama is often simple and direct. I think Obama would do fine in debate against McCain, whom you severely overrate here. Once McCain has to get into facts and details, it's like there's a rocket attached to his foot that is precision-aimed to go into his mouth.

  • as opposed to what

    "It is about judgment

It's still about Obama's judgment. He went to that church because Wright was a political king maker in South Chicago and he badly needed street cred as an African-American. Similar reason why his first fundraiser was at William Ayers' home: to establish his liberal credentials.

    "

As oppsoed to what? clintons judgement? The war in iraq?

Mccains judgement saying the economy is rosy two months ago?

I get it. The black man can't be president, fine gop. Whatever you say. You had yoru say for decades on end. no one is buying it anymore.

Let's talk about judgement. Ever heard of Norman Hsu? Judgement? that story died months ago right? hmm.

You people are making fools of yourselves. When obama is president stop the sabtoage please. ONCE he is president your "He can't be president because" nonsense will have to stop. Or will it be "he shouldn't be president because".

your done gop. Back in the cave you go. Please stop the sabotage.
