?? are you saying that our civilian killings were/are? maybe you're right that 9/16 was a stupid time to start discussing them, but that's pretty small potatoes.

chris rock is right, when he says all black people over a certain age hate whites, for good reasons. not every white person deserves it, but folks who lived prior to the 60s like Wright have seen what lies beneath the thin ice of the somewhat more progressive recent less than 50 years, which is already starting to crack. and it's his job to call down hellfire and brimstone where he thinks it appropriate.

I saw parts of the Moyers interview. Jeremiah Wright was using Psalm 137 as the basis for his interpretation of his correctness in the context of his sermon on 9/16/01. To me, the distance that is spoken of regarding race relations can be ERASED through our faith in the Father of Abraham and the Christ. Actually, putting into practice those tenets that Rev. Wright purportedly preaches and supports would easily knock down those walls. The interpretation presented by Rev. Wright (and accepted by many, many Christians of several denominations) is to accept the USA as the prophetic Babylon in Scripture. Perhaps, the problem is really how our "learned" men and women in positions of shepharding the faithful use current events to meet their personal perspective of reality instead of our Heavenly Father's perspective of reality. An honest evaluation and STUDY of the Word is what is needed today - the results of such discussion will be wide ranging and BENEFICIAL to all. That is what I took away from Rev. Wright's explanation for his views on Moyers' program.

I guess you could also ask why hundreds if not thousands in Denmark are in hiding from Extremist (Muslims) becasue they had the audacity to print a couple of cartoons...Imagine if Western Chritians reacted in the same manner at every precieved slight to Christianity...The streets would be flowing with blood...

Would you believe that such an operation was run out of the basement of the White House and when the Christic Institue and Frontline fouond out it was being flown in to Homestead Airforce Base that the operataion was transfered to an Airport in Mena Arkansas?

Would you believe that John Kerry and George Bush spent the night in a coffin together when they were at Yale playing pirate games?

Would you believe that high fructose corn sweetner was approved for the sole purpose of making us fat, sick and consume more product because while it tastes like sugar, it provides none of the energy of sugar?

Would you believe that Nutrasweet actually was approved to make people fat and sick because Don Rumsfeld ran the company?

Would you believe that the anthrax terror attacks used US miltary anthrax froma bio war program?

Would you believe that the light weight body of an aircraft punched through reenforced walls of the Pentagon but the massive and heavy engines didn't make a scratch on the walls but the aircraft that hit the WTC disingrated before it passed through the relatively lightweight steel,glass and drywall while those same massive and heavy engines sailed right on through and landed on the streets reconizalble as engines whereas the ones for the pentagon just sort of vanished?

Would you believe that we invaded Afghanistan in order to avenge 9/11 when plans had been drawn up years before the fact and allies had been assemebled to invade them 6 months prior to 9/11?

Would you believe that after invading two countries, we let opium growers start growing their crop again in Afghnistan and we left the munitions dumps unguarded so the Iraqis could stock up for the insurgency which had to be jomp started a year after the fact in Iraq?

REv. Wright in no way supports black separatism, he supports black self help. The attacks against REv Wright and Obama are based on white racism against the black church.

Are we all just kool-aid drinking Obamabots with nothing of substance to add? I don't think she can say that having read some of the more thoughtful and insightful posts that actually offer analysis instead of just biased feelings.

It's rather ironic, that as devoid of reasoned analysis as Joan's editorial is, there is an abundance of reasoned analysis in the letters section. Had Joan's obtuse post not been written, none of these letters would exist. For that much, at least, I am thankful.
