Why Jeremiah Wright is so wrong

I applaud Bill Moyers for being fair to Obama's pastor, but their PBS hour won't chase questions about his grim view of America. Plus: More Wright tapes emerge.

The letters thread is now closed.

Look at the scary black man!

Look at the scary black man! Politics of personal destruction indeed. The power is in controlling the narrative. Looks like they may succeed in destroying Obama. The terrible thing is that Democrats have been complicit.

Are these readers' comments for real?

Joan, you have my sincerest sympathy for the hateful and irrational responses you get from Obama supporters gone beserk.

I don't know how you stand it. I wish these lunatics would find themselves another home. They behave like cult followers who treat their leader like a god, immune from criticism. In fact, criticism of their exalted one seems to be a sin punishable by death. They're actually a pretty scary bunch.

So stay strong and reasonable, and I hope these nut-cases will find another corner to scream on.

We know what it says about Carol Richards

What does it say about Senator Obama that the Wright story won't go away?

It says some people will stoop to race baiting in order to win.

calgodot

Like Barbara Bush, Joan doesn't want to pollute her "beautiful mind" with the ugly truth. She'd rather it be dressed in liberal platitudes, so she can still digest her dinner while white Americans murder non-whites at home and abroad.

You wouldn't have a copy of the national race baced crime stats would you...I'd like to see the break down of the murder rates by race...Specifically between the Crips and Bloods...

Chill People!

The business of witchhunters is casting aspirtions and fear, these are the high ideals, with which they make their appeal.

I appreciate your honesty webdubois52.

And I think many uninformed people are using this as a reson to not support him. I can appreaicate yoru ignorance. no disrepect.

A chrsitan hates and wants to eraticate evil. Not evil people, but the evil within them. To allow them to blame others and point the finger to not help. Not that person, not you, not our children/the future.

how do we change then? Change cannot come, other than on an individual basis. how does and individual change? Mental conflict. that is the only way. Look at teh big picture. not the us weekyl high school gossip.

sometimes to help people grow you must shock them .You must offened them.

If we all were j krishnamurti maybe we could all grow on our own without that mental conflict. Maybe the need and want for growth would be enough. Not is not reality. In reality chagne must ome trough mental conflict on an individual basis

Another reason Obama should have waited.....

Obama threw himself into the 2008 race after just one year in the U.S. Senate. If he had waited until 2012 or 2016 he would have earned real experience credits. But we now see that just as important , Obama needed more time to distance himself from associations that are doing his campaign great damage. He needed the time to distance himself from Rev. Wright, Tony Rezco and Ayers/Dohrn, and who knows how many others.

Obama abd his supporters can't blame the Clinton's for his fall in popularity. The fault lies with Obama himself. Some of his own aides are upset by what seems to be Obama's growing boredom with the primary race. His demeanor and his approach are a turn-off to white middle class and blue collar workers.

It's high time that Obama supporters stop blaming everything and everyone in sight for their candidate's own problems, and Jeremiah Wright is surely one of Obama's own problems.

Barack can't prove it

How in the world is Barack going to prove that he might win?

I'm not sure what is says about Barack, but I honestly don't think he can prove that he won't lose to McCain...and that scares me; just look at what people are going to say about Barack...

What Pessimism?

I think you miss the whole premise of the man's life. It is one of hope. You can't be a follower of Jesus and his promise and not be hopeful that things can change.

You only view Rev. Wright through political eyes, i.e., how will he damage Obama? What you forget is that the Rev. Wright doesn't need Barak Obama's permission to defend himself. The only way he's hurting Barak is that the America people want Barak to be hurt. Otherwise, he hasn't made on statement that wasn't historically factual in it's content. I'm profoundly sorry that the glow of Barak's eternal happy talk has started to fade. Penning it on the Reverend won't change reality.

He was never going to win because America doesn't want him to win. Unfortunately for most of those that want to oust the GOP, Hilliary can win and America won't allow Barak to win. Sad to say the least.

BTW, I'm a Hillary supporter. The screen name tells the rest.

Rufus and the 1000 monkey theorem

Rufus, it would seem you have the "fastest" 1000 monkeys typing away for you...At some point it's mathematically plausible that you'll actually produce something intelligent...

Shorter Joan Walsh

"I know there is still a lot of racism and inequity in the world. But I don't want to hear about it from one of the victims, and I certainly don't want to be made uncomfortable by such revelations."

Like Barbara Bush, Joan doesn't want to pollute her "beautiful mind" with the ugly truth. She'd rather it be dressed in liberal platitudes, so she can still digest her dinner while white Americans murder non-whites at home and abroad.

The only editors who are bigger racists than Joan Walsh sit on the editorial board of the Wall Street Journal.

you got to say something peanut gallery wes, I mean odog

You can't touch my posts. you got to say something. Carry on dittohead.

Keep posting third party sources attributing it to wright or obama. There words aren't enough ammo right? you need other sources to base "what they really think". hahahahahahhaha

you rush limbaugh sabotuers are a sad breed. No candidate. No power. no voice. All you can do is sabotage and divide and conquer. All you can do is throw a wrench in the works of the "opposition". Would be scary if you had a candidate, and clinton already lost. hahahahahah

I would be angry at you republcains, and your treason, if I didn't pity you so much. If I still feared you fascsits and yoru propoganda. As the american people have shuned you now, I will do the same.

Why waste me time on rush's tool meat puppets? :)
