Don't blame San Francisco for Obama's "Bittergate"

wHAT WE CAN NOWS SAY, AFTER THE DEBATE on wed

What joan has been doing here, is the exact same thing abc did last night, and re gettign castrated for. So don't feel guilty for calling joan out, salon people.

It's all to help her and to save her credibility, so she doesn't end up like stehpolopolus or gibson.

Again. How are clinton's propogandists any differant than bush's? Don't fall for the gop sabotage game. no one is buying it. Don't be folled. Hold the media accountabile for their bile and gossip. If not you, her viewers/readers who? It makes money. If there is no consequence why would thyey stop. Abc see's the consequence. Hopefully the rest of the us weekly gossip media is on notice. we'll find out soon enough. I'm betting, they don't give a damn. Why should they. We have to watch. We have no choice but to watch gop propoganda.

If only pepsi existed as soda why would they change? If we only have propoganda, who can combat them? Other propoganda?

Truth must start entering into the picture. But how to get their. i say stop watching all of it. Turn to the internet, until they get their acts together and kick fox-like propogandists to the curb for good. that is the only way they cahnge

@dissidenz

I might need to reread her article, but I think Joan is saying that regardless of what Obama meant (which she seems to get)she still sees him as often patronizing and condescending.

I don't. At all. And I don't worship him. I just hope he gets elected president.

What will bug me is watching how Joan (and all those who, for whatever reason, see Obama as more narcissistic than the other two)will have to basically agree with the McCainites in the general election.

No doubt she will be passionately pulling for Obama and clearly articulating all the reasons she wants him as president. But, as she also makes clear, she likes to write about her perception of character as well. Fine. But she can't really say anything to those who will be arguing that Barack comes across as condescending and elitist.

She will simply honestly retort, "I know, I know, I think so too, but we have to focus on his ideas now."

This always happens. Once all the folks decided that Kerry was a cold and distant geek, they suggested we try our best to realize that he's got some great ideas. Same with Gore.

As this primary wears on, I just hate seeing a growing group of Hilary supporters who will undoubtedly support Barack but with the,

"I want Barack as President, but I can't deny that he's overly arrogant and patronizing and that he somehow attracts more awful and repugnant supporters than other politicians."

But hunch is that this will always be the case for Democrats. At least as long as they accept the basic interpretation frame that is used by the press.

The Mainstream Networks Speak:

"Why can't Obama be a good little Bryant Gumble and just play ball with us?"

@Eric Berry

Eric, I don't know if you've read any of my recent letters, but I definitely appreciate the question you pose to Joan.

I think she would say that she writes about her negative perceptions of Barack out of her journalistic duty to really check him out. She wouldn't disagree that we should be very concerned by any policy issues of Hilary that might be dangerous or a continuation of the type of foreign approach we don't want, but I think Joan would want us to place all of her (somewhat)negative reactions to Barack in the "strategy box", think of them as concerns less about how he will govern and more why he might lose to McCain. I've asked her if this is a correct hunch on my part.

That's my best way of making sense of how she writes about this tuff. I don't agree with it, if it is, but I can make sense of it that way.

I'm curious if when republicans are slinging mud about Barack's apparent"arrogance" and personality flaws, Joan will consider that type of "observation" to be particularly important as we try to figure out who should be president. But then again, so far we have yet to hear back from Joan as to whether she really believes that Barack has a higher percentage of awful supporters and if that reflects on what kind of president he will be. And that's my biggest question about her most recent musings.

The Reality of Being a Woman in Corporate America

Yes, there is still sexism. I am seeing it all the time.

There are also lousy female managers and VP's, I see that all the time also.

For some reason, I don't get the feeling that President Clinton would make a damn bit of difference in that reality. Moreover, she is an awful candidate.

I can't defend her, and can't help that Obama has come along as a better choice. I can help that her supporters truly make me angry with their endless attacks on Obama supporters.

Bring on PA.

@ Carol Richards -- Could you possibly suck up to Joan any more?

Jeeze, Joan responds to one of your questions and you turn into one of her obedient little droids. Please, stop the apple polishing already -- and take it down a notch or two or three. You're making me nauseous.

Jesus Joan..

I suppose this is your editorial, but you could be a little less blatant on your endorsement of Clinton and denigration of Obama. Just remember than in a few months you might find yourself in the latter's corner.

@virtue001 (They Fixed It)

virtue001, please go back and read what I've written to Joan because Salon just emailed me that they have deleted all the comments added into my responses to Joan by a computer Hacker. Isn't that crazy; some guy went in there and made it sound like I was suddenly praising the crap out of Joan. Go see; it's back to normal. I thank her for her response and challenge her on her logic, maintaining the same kinds of respectful comments I did even at my most frustrated with her. It's embarassing to think that you thought I had written those comments by Mr. Hacker. When you go back and read my letters to Joan, you will no longer see:

"Joan you are right on target once again. I've always treasured your unerroring reports."

"Joan, I'm stunned by how much smarter you are than most of us around here.

"Joan, I don't disagree with a word your brilliant fingers typed!!!

Virtue001, you'll be happy to know that it was the hacker who had written:

"Joan, thanks so much for responding to me. I don't want it to go to my head, but it's like having Michael Jordan ask you to shoot some hoops out on the court."

Fortunately (for me alone), I've always been able to "suck up" while at the same time pointing out what I find to be her impossible logic (which has serious consequences). It's not a bad way to treat somebody you actually respect. My guess is that you don't really respect me, though.

I would never accuse you of pretending to like somebody, so far. Have you ever done that? It reminds me of how...
