patronizing people with a mental illness is displaying a prejudice

I apologize to ALL people with mental illness. Many people who live with mental illness are extremely brave and deserve my deepest respect.

That does not absolve you Smith for your bigotry and uncontrolled racist views. You disgust me.

  • maureenodonnell

Hey, you need to gang up with AKA and form a support group for Bigots Anonymous.

And Xenophone is spelled with a X you ignorant troll.

  • Hutman

Keep up the good work! Maybe lay off Smith a little, out of all the outspoken Clinton supporters here, she's at least the most genuine. She may go off the deep end sometimes, but in the end, she is going to vote for Obama in the GE just like we are (seeing as Hillary has slightly better than zero chance of winning the primary).

I particularly loved your 4 part answer to the Traister nonsense (Obama boys), although I thought you gave her a little more credit than deserved. The only articles from Traister I've ever liked have been the ones that are just about culture or emotions or movies or other soft topics. Her Valentine's day article was particularly charming. Any time she opens her mouth about feminism or politics, otoh, I mean, could she be anymore sensationalist, factless, or inane in focus?

Anyway, you're quite the rhetorician. Consider public office, if you haven't.

the hoi-polloi who don't call themselves Madam

"You ignorant slut" borrowing from Jane Curtin on SNL. Have you looked up any dictionary ever in your lifetime? Look up the word "madam" then add an e and look that up, and let me know the difference.

I am lower than hoi-polloi, you get it? and make no bones about it. Boy are you ignorant.

  • Rufus, you are right.

A role model is a person who has qualities worthy of emulation. If that is how you meant it, then I apologize for misunderstanding you.

However, I am also correct. A role model is someone who is like you who achieves. For instance, Nelson Rockerfeller was a role model for dyslexic people because he was a dyslexic who achieved. Helen Keller is a role model for the blind. Hillary Clinton as president would be a role model for little girls. Barack Obama as president would be a role model for black children.

Here is an example of someone who is a role model for quadraplegics and also for all people who admire people who overcome disadvantages:

  • @ madamfauntleroy, who said: "I apologize to ALL people with mental illness."

    You are an idiot!

I did not say that I have a mental illness. What I said was not intended for you at all. The person whom it was intended for will read it and understand.

  • AKA Smith

you are obviously not a quadraplegic nor a dyslexic (only in your fractured thinking) or blind. Why cannot Christopher Reeves or Helen Keller be your role models? They overcome adversity and so can you. They can be role models for all manner of people. See how limited and limiting you are?

  • What a waste of time

No one ever wants to change.

Sad day in america. Get to the root of issues and people get scared and run away. So sad. I wish others could internalize and break downt he barriers in their own mind.

Try this, to those who do want to grow and change. Break down the imaginary barriers that divide us.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jiddu_Krishnamurti

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjiYeFDCMeY

We are our lifes message. We are our actions words and who we asscoiate ourselves with. The labels out there are not real. The labels others put on us are a major problem. But the labels and barriers we put on ourselves is the real problem. Until people realize that, nothing will ever change.

That is why krishnamurti failed. In his refusal to have labels, even acknowledging labels others put on themsevles, even to get them from a to b. If you do not know where someone is coming from, how can you possibly understand what it will take to free them?

what someone see's themselves as is very important, and should not be minimulized. That is why the question "who are you" is so important. We are dust in the wind. We are, what we are becoming.

all we can do is hope people start the process. Where they go from their is their choice. People can cut yoru chains, but they can't force you to leave the cave of willful ignorance. you must do that yoruself. Each journey starts with a step, aka smith. the first step is realization. then internalizaion. When you break downt the barreiers in your own mind, then come talk to me.

Repent and you will be forgiven.

Agreed. Let's leave it there. We don't want to confine people. This is the land of the free after all.

e primus unum ,and all. But you are representative of a line of thinking. don't hide from it. We must remove it from the psyhce. We can't do that be hiding and blaming. Sorry if I came across as gotcha? Trying to effect change. You do say, "let's change" and it happens. It takes work. Hard work.

this is the only way I know to break down these barriers. We must all grow through conversation. This is nto a place to propogate and see who's loudest.

You support clinton. Remember "We're all in this together" and "it takes a village to raise a child"? Remember that? What changed since she started losing? It's seems like everything about clinton changed when she started losing. think on that.

good luck and god bless. Hopefully we found common ground today.
