  • "that, given the stakes, is fair game in a heated primary"

It's one thing to criticize legitimate issues, for Hillary to make the case about experience, or policies. It is quite another to latch onto a thin thread, and purposely attack the likely candidate for your OWN party in the hopes you can capsize his nomination and take it for yourself. The divide in this party that would great could be disastrous for years. Even the Republicans seem to know that, so how come Hillary or Joan do not?

I don't believe for one second Hillary really thinks Obama is some out of touch elitist, but there she is, right along with McCain. At some point you cross a line, and I think Hillary is right on it, if she hasn't already crossed over it. Does she realize this? More importantly, does she even care?

  • @luansos (have you really looked)

    Hi,

I agree with much of your post, but....

What do you think it says about Obama that some of his supporters are really, really sexist and are not afraid to say awful things all the time to nice and reasonable Hillary supporters? Do you think that just because Hillary has awful supporters we should ignore how mean and inappropriate Obama supporters can be?

Don't you want to know there is a website where you can always be reminded that Obama has some people who support him who really are vocal and ignorant and awful? Joan will consistently point out this about his supporters. I'm not sure what she thinks about the awful Hillary supporters, but I'm sure she knows they are there.

Do you really think that Joan isn't fully aware of Hillary's shadow, how she hits many false notes and makes some awful decisions about how she campaigns? Yes, Joan does often point out Barack's mistakes and his potential character flaws, but do you really think she couldn't say the same types of things about Hillary?

Ok, sexism may be helping Barack, but you don't think Joan isn't very aware of all the other reasons that many many people prefer him over Hillary, do you?

  • Uh.... Joan....

Your candidate and her surrogates (Begala, Wolfson and the usual suspects) are pressing the "San Francisco" button every chance they get.

And Dan "Lieberman" Gerstein may have endorsed Obama, but Ned Lamont is actually an official part of the Obama campaign.

Both of those facts ought to tell you something

  • Clinton Losing Her Lead... Bittergate Isn't Working

Interesting, one of Salon's own "5 Things" just posted is:

    Clinton Losing Lead

    http://www.salon.com/5things/2008/04/15/clinton_losing_lead/index.html

Looks like even with Joan Walsh's undying support, Bittergate is going nowhere on the campaign front.

So she can tote her guns, drink her boilermakers, and yell about Obama being elitist all she wants, and it may give Joan and her pundit pals something to talk about between commercials on MSNBC, but it still isn't getting Hillary any traction with actual voters.

  • You just don't get it

This article is rubbish and illustrates perfectly how much better Obama is than Clinton and her supporters.

The Republicans have policies that favour the rich. The Democrats have policies that favour the poor. Therefore it is the Republicans that are the elitists. End of story.

For decades, the Republicans have been spewing this crap about "elitist" Democrats and getting working class people to vote for them on that basis. Instead of calling them out on this nonsense as Obama has done, the Hillarybots are just reinforcing the Republican myth making. It is just pathetic. With every passing day, it becomes clearer that the election of Clinton would be a tragic lost opportunity.

  • As anyone who has ever gone hunting or been around hunters knows . . .

you shoot birds and fowl -- which is what ducks are -- with a shotgun.

    http://www.ezilon.com/information/article_16094.shtml

How do I know? My Daddy taught me.

Same with other small game such as rabbits. In the winter in months with the letter r, we used to survive in part on rabbits, cottontails killed in the desert. Hell, we even ate jack rabbit.

The notion that working class people only hunt so that they can put trophy heads on their walls or just because they like to hear guns go bang-bang is a liberal urbanites illusion. People actually hunt to eat. Among people who understand these things, the notion that you would use a six-shooter is just ludicrous. I think Obama has watched too many western movies where the fast draw takes out a rattlesnake with one bullet.

  • @AKA Smith (he is consistent)

    Wait everybody.

AKA Smith applies this same sort of nitpic to Hillary as well. Go back and see how he treats her when she says the wrong type of word. He sees meaning in it both ways. Give him credit. This just happened to be Obama's mistake that he finds meaning in...

And, he has trouble finding meaning in most of my comments. He's not alone! But he is consistent.

  • Wow ... AKA Smith

The amount of desperation it takes to parse "six shooters out of Obama's quip is terribly sad.

This is what the great Clinton campaign has come to?

The rhetorical equivalent of an alcoholic sucking beer out of an ashtray?

My 8 year old could read that remark and understand that Obama wasn't saying she hunts ducks with a six shooter.

It really is all over but the crying, isn't it?

  • AKA Smith: Obama never said that

Again, the quote: "She's talking like she's Annie Oakley! Hillary Clinton's out there like she's on the duck blind every Sunday, she's packin' a six shooter!"

Three distinct (and silly) images with no implication that she would use a six shooter to hunt ducks. Unless you think Obama was also erroneously claiming that Annie Oakley was a duck hunter, then there is no reason to connect the six shooter with duck hunting either.

  • bittergate and joan

    you are missing it:

Joan won't be upset of Obama does well in PA. She is worried that something like bittergate might hurt Barack. She clearly was impressed by the content of his response to bittergate. It is understadable that she would be a bit worried about the effect it might have on his image.

  • @ AKA Smith and Jokes

AKA was only kidding. Read his other posts. He would be the ultimate hypocrite if he actually thought Barack's choice of words is all that meaningful. Just go back and see the stuff he says about Hillary's mistatements.
