Don't blame San Francisco for Obama's "Bittergate"

Candidates pander to wealthy donors in every city, not just mine!

White Haired Women For Barack Obama

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpDTvlSd0x4

This will definitely kill the "typical white women" on Salon. What have these old biddies from the south been smoking?

Let's all chip in and buy him spell check.

@Madam White Hairs

Yeah, saw that last night. Way too over the top for Fester. Not at all like the serious work being done here down in the letters section. Not at all.

Wednesday, April 16, 2008 02:12 PM

AKA Smith

Why are you engaging with Rufus? It's like bear baiting, or bum-fights or dwarf tossing. It ain't right.

I always thought you were better than that. I mean, c'mon, you come from a working class background AND you know how to shoot a gun AND you are white so we all know your vote, thoughts, and opinions matter the most. Why rub your superiority in poor Rufus' face! But what do I matter. I'm black so my vote doesn't really count anyway....

Dear Uncle Fester

I know they sounded like a cheerleading team too. But what the hell. It did my heart good that these biddies from the south, nonetheless are rooting for Obama. I have decided now to stop coloring my hair and look sexy

Wednesday, April 16, 2008 02:20 PM

rufus I will save you speculations on why I support Clinton.

Here it is in estimated percentages

1. Her health care plan - 50%

2. The types of judges I think she will appoint to the supreme court who I believe would best protect Roe v. Wade - 20%

3. Her greater experience on national issues (because her experience is not mere state legislature experience) - 10%

4. Her past work on issues that affect children - 5%

5. The obvious sexism of many who oppose her - 5%

6. Her good service and work on helping our military men and women and veterans - 5%

7. Not because she is a woman, but because I am a woman - 4%

8. I am worried about what will emerge from the Rezko trial - 1%

smith is just plain tackey.

I would like to thank Ms. Walsh for one thing.

I used to read Salon almost religiously, using it as my primary online source for news and commentary. But now, thanks to her piloting Salon into the death spiral that is Clinton's presidential campaign, I've wandered off to spend most of my news-gathering time in a wider range of other places (Slate, The Nation, Huffpo, The Progressive, even CNN). Thanks for teaching me that there are more and better places to spend my time!

Smith

No matter how you drive the percentages you're a few cards shy of a full deck.

Wednesday, April 16, 2008 02:28 PM

@ stackey-dackey

Why are you engaging with Rufus? It's like bear baiting, or bum-fights or dwarf tossing. It ain't right.

Not sure I get what you mean. How isn't it right to talk to rufus? He is not on my ignore list as far as I remember. Madame (she of the DID) is not ignoring him. She even cyber-married him.

I always thought you were better than that. I mean, c'mon, you come from a working class background AND you know how to shoot a gun AND you are white so we all know your vote, thoughts, and opinions matter the most.

I am not claiming that at all. Are you saying that I should be silenced because of those things? What does my being white have to do with anything. BTW, I am not all white.

Why rub your superiority in poor Rufus' face!

What superiority are you referring to? Why do you think rufus is inferior to me? I certainly have not said so.

But what do I matter. I'm black so my vote doesn't really count anyway....

What is this woebegone nonsense from you? Your vote counts just as much as mine.

Little Lord Baltimore and Salon Fan: Off topic but needs to be said

I appreciate reading both of your responses to this letter. As someone who had to watch a single black mother overcome the obstacles you described clearly; I am glad to see that despite the flame wars that are raging here there are still a few people that have legitimate gripes and are not afraid to voice them. Please do not stop writing, anything to improve the discourse and face REAL issues is appreciated.

I do find a couple things curious:

No one, with the exception of one poster, sorry I cant remember the screen name, has responded to either of your posts and your legitimate anger dare I say bitterness? The flame war has consumed us all apparently.

Is this recent flame war maybe an attempt to drum up flagging support for Salon itself? Ms Walsh's last opinion (on John McCain) got what barely 50 hits and in fact thats kind of par for the course for her (and even more so for Ms Traister)outside of this one topic.

Hmmm.

There you go stackey-dackey,

manos has just said that I am crazy. That should reassure you.

AKASmith and the % game

1. Her health care plan - 50%

Most argue that Obama's plan is not much more different. Besides her Universal Health Care crashed and burned the first time around. She failed miserably

2. The types of judges I think she will appoint to the supreme court who I believe would best protect Roe v. Wade - 20%

Obama is more likely to appoint more liberal judges than Clinton now that she has morphed into Lieberman

3. Her greater experience on national issues (because her experience is not mere state legislature experience) - 10%

Clinton has no experience on national issues save being in the White House as a cuckold to her philandering husband.

4. Her past work on issues that affect children - 5%

Marian and Peter Edelman who started the Children's Defense Fund distanced themselves from the Clinton administration as they began to coopt the policies of the GOP. The Edelmans now support Obama who they perceive as not opportunistic as the Clintons

5. The obvious sexism of many who oppose her - 5%

There are equal numbers who are racist and will not vote for Obama, no matter what

6. Her good service and work on helping our military men and women and veterans - 5%

She voted for the war and is responsible for the deaths of 4,039 of our best in Iraq.

7. Not because she is a woman, but because I am a woman - 4%

Would you vote for Condi Rice or Margaret Thatcher?

8. I am worried about what will emerge from the Rezko trial - 1%

The Clinton's $109 mill windfall in less than a decade should cancel Rezko boondoggle that you keep repeating.
