Don't blame San Francisco for Obama's "Bittergate"

Candidates pander to wealthy donors in every city, not just mine!

grat point. Like always, the answer is in the question. Great question

"Why is it that no one asks the reverse question? Shouldn't Clinton be concerned about reaching out to the many well-educated liberals whose generosity she'd need for a general campaign? Doesn't she need the votes of African-Americans to cobble together an electoral majority?

-- odanuki "

Because clinton is a republcain sabotuer. She cannot win. So she is destroying the democratic party, to brown nose. To save her carrer. She not going anywhere as a democrat. What are her only options now? She alienated african americans. She alienated young voters. She alienated liberals. Where is she going to win without all these people. All she has is old ladies. where are only old ladies going to get her elected. WHEN MCCAIN LOSES TO OBAMA, all the "good will" she has built up with the gop will be for not. They will throw her to the side and her carrer is done. Sell-outs. She doesn't realize her only hope is gop, or the liberman route. Maybe she does, and is a sabotuer republcain now, after she made all that money over her husband's presidency. She needs low taxes. :)

"From Joan Walsh

I answered Carol Richards in an old thread about to close, so I'm rewriting here: Thanks, Carol, for your comment. To answer your question (which I feel like I've answered before): I am very proud of Salon's coverage of the Democratic primary. We are not pulling for any candidate, or trying to correct for any impression that we're pulling for any candidate. We're reporting the news fairly, and in our opinion columns, we're asking and trying to answer compelling questions other people aren't tackling. When we all look back in 2009, I think Salon will stand out for its fairness, especially when one looks at primary coverage on the Web.

"

I'll believe it when I see one critical piece on clinton. ONE. You less balanced than fox, joan. That is saying a lot. They are gossip and propoganda and heresay. For a "liberal" website to be worse and more propoganda agaisnt teh dmocratic candidate than fox, wow, that's saying something

Logical error

I haven't read all of the letters here (although my guess is I've read most of them in response to other columns of yours), so forgive me if I'm repeating what someone else has already brought up, but there's a problem with your characterization of Obama here.

You say his appeal is (or the perception is that his appeal is) only to coastal liberals. In essence, this means NY and CA, both states that Clinton won. Considering that he's won just about every other state, I would suggest that this perception is yours, not the general publics.

the joan and the gop, clinton supporters

my advice? Stop the divide and conquer. REPENT AND YOU WILL BE FORGIVEN.

Quick digging your holes deeper with the gop. Please. Stop being sell-outs and side with those fighting for america. You do know you are republcains now, don't ya? Come on people. think about the big picture.

REpent admit mistakes, say sorry and lets move forward together. Swallow yoru pride, for the good of the nation. Please

"Bittergate"

I only came here because of the use of this term. Playing along with this "-gating" of every minor flap only shows how intellectually lazy the press in general and Walsh in particular is. The Clintons (both of them) continue losing my respect, but I'll vote for Hillary in November over McCain if that's my choice. But I won't like it.

Good Ole Rufus

Calling everyone else republicans and in the next breath he's talking about repent and forgive. That's as right wing as you can get.

Rufus

so called liberals are many times the worst. My one of my friends is a white guy who does not agree with me on lot on issues and sometimes says some offensive shit about black people. We have had to go around and around. But at least he will tell me straight what he thinks and then we can have a honest discussion. while he has had some crazy ideals he is the first to hire people based on their ability to do the work. He has hired and promoted people of all races but is still what you might call a die hard Reagan Republican. WE get into shouting matches and then go have a beer. Our kids go out together and are amused when we get into our shouting matches. They laugh and say their they go again. We to forty-seve year olds are stuck in a world they don't really have a clue about.

But so-called liberals like Joan, Hillary and Bill will be your friend until you cross them (Bill Richardson. They are like the so called good Master. As long as you pick the cotton and don't try to own the plantation you are OK. They keep saying "one day you will be free" "one day you shall overcome, but not yet" "now is not your time" "we will tell you when it is your time."

I would rather argue with a person who may have grown up with certain veiws but have the willingness to listen then to argue with those closet sexist and racist who always think their way is the only way.

Remember Bill Clinton always says politics is a rough game. He is saying the only way to win is to deal in the "politics of personal destruction."

Well, guess what, just because it has been does not mean it always has to be. He is saying people cannot grew. That the only way to appeal to people is through the worsts and through their fears. It is a an old mentality.

But sense it is not working he, Hillary and Joan have to work harder to try keep mess alive. You have to be hateful person when your slogan is "HOPE" is a bad word.
