The candidate's Pennsylvania remarks, and his passionate defense of them, are more convincing than the debate about them would have you believe.

  • yes madame,

i was raised in a typical bronx neighborhood of 50 years ago. jewish, irish and italian. we fought with the irish. the italians wouldn't demean themselves by beating up jews. clinton is not a dick, he's a chicken-shit prick. i hated him for what he did to joycelyn. and lani as well. now, i was no fan of lani guinier, i thought her hatred of SAT's was because she was bad at them (it was the only thing i had going for me - so i was "bitter" that someone would take it from me). however SHE WASN'T GIVEN A CHANCE! he withdrew her name before she could hit back at all the republicans who called her 'quota queen' (later i found that she *did* have some interesting ideas - in voting. still made mistakes in logic (girls got lower in SAT's but higher in math grades - she used that as "proof" [different sample error])) BUT she had some good ideas. proportional voting, instant runoff. i digress.
i just read the politico. com article posted by suarez, above. it got me pissed off. my reaction will answer your question. Jews are democrats - totally. the few that aren't make the most noise, get the most oil, like black republicans. so no one will vote for McCain in the general. as for Said, didn't like him. Obama, like him. how do i account for it? (like black people, having to account for my entire people) Well, i have good antenna, Obama LIKES JEWS. i can tell. maybe it's the folks he met at U chi or harvard law or hyde park. maybe he just likes a good argument. who knows? it just is. i'm not voting for Wright, i'm voting for Obama. BESIDES, i and almost all jews hope for peace in israel. but HELL we're people and the Arabs are people and we aren't going to LIKE each other and we need someone who can talk to both and CARTER AIN'T IT! he's a weirdo christian. like jews (and most intelligent people) Obama doesn't believe in god. who can? we'd LIKE to (who wouldn't want to see our mothers(or grandmothers) again) but we can't - why? because we're too intelligent. he has to SAY he's christian but he's no fire and harp believer. (i think he said religion helped him in ethical questions - he's not going to talk about it - hey! he's NOT STOOPID! you have to pretend to be elected.)

  • Unelectable?

That would be Lady MacBeth, She who Must be Obeyed, Queen Hillary. She has a huge electability problem.

Of course, she knows how many hate her. That's why she is doing the scummy litle Rove-Jr. act. She is trying, thus far unsuccessfully, to use Rovian tactics to lower Obama to her own level. It's disgusting, it's nauseating, and it is politics.

What is NOT normal, what is deviant, is her pandering and pushing McBush over Obama. Disgusting, nauseating. That's the problem with Lady MacBeth; she is, by her own actions, destroying Democratic prospects for the fall.

I grant that she is testing Obama. what I don't accept as normal is the use of Republican methods.

  • We'll find out soon enough

The PA contest is only a few days away now and should tell us something about how real voters think about this issue. Right now, it's all pundits and partisans, all the time. Yes we read Politico. Tim Grieve is a great addition over there (sorry Joan). I'm getting a little tired of the Hillary has held back and the Republicans won't narrative. It's true, but it's also true that Obama has held back, and the Republicans won't. And there's plenty of material from the last eight years to work with. Hillary's handling of the Bosnia 'Sniper Fire' incident did not inspire confidence. The fear of the boogeyman arguments as presented don't really hold water from my perspective. The boogeyman is coming, no matter what.

Speaking of Politico, why not mention that one of the Republican talking heads over there think that Hillary may be coming perilously close to a Mitt Romney "huntin' varmints" moment in regards to her duck hunting contest?

For all of Obama's weakness on the gun issue that I detail below, Hillary's attempts to exploit the "bitter" issue may have gone a step too far yesterday in Indiana.
As a past advocate for gun control, she's approaching Mitt and varmints territory here.

    Grow yourself a heart

    and get yourself smart.

  • new tee vee series

a sure ratings loser: "Are You Smarter Than A Clinton Supporter?". The answer, of course, is if you can turn on the tee vee and select the proper channel at the proper time, you're already smarter than Tostito Whorez and his malo band of braindead banditos. The sequel: Are You Smarter Than An Athletic Supporter, in which Whorez falls corta, uh, short again. I'm no racist, Tostito; I just think you're an asshole in any lengua, and I doubt you have any hispanic relatives. I'm not sure you've made it to homo erectus; check your Depends again. No tengo miedo de una puta, muchacha. (whistling) ya la van a caminar. huy huy huy. stick a maraca donde viene la caca. what a jerk. it has nothing to do with ethnicity, and everything to do with stupidity.

  • @dataguyx

we are just going to have to trust that these "irish" will turn out to be like "our" irish (on this thread) not "my" irish (of 50 years ago, the "zenhead" type). i think - or choose to think - we are going to be amazingly surprised. the WHOLE country is going to go for Obama - not ALL of course, and not the LOUDEST, but the Most - and not because he's perfect either. he's not as warm as perhaps we'd like - but any childhood with no father and a mother that leaves when you are ten leaves one with necessary armor. but he tries to think. he is open with it. he lets us into his mind and tells us what he thinks. true, maybe arrogantly - but truthfully. maybe you have to be a little egotistical to tell the truth as you see it - think about it.
