The candidate's Pennsylvania remarks, and his passionate defense of them, are more convincing than the debate about them would have you believe.

  • Don't be foolish, Fooled Again

Fester didn't make the rules. Criticizing or diminishing a hero tends to piss off the admirers of the Hero. MLK is a hero. Basic Human tribal crap, no?

Another rule is don't praise the Enemy. Obama did that when he said Reagan wielded great influence, greater than Clinton. Was he right (just like Hillary was right) Yes? Did he get shit for it? Absolutely!

Are you the actual disease or just a symptom?

  • antidote to Joan Walsh/GOTV

    Go out and register voters.

    That's what I did today.

Lots of folks were happy to see Obama canvassers show up at their door and help them complete new voter registration cards.

My favorite house was one where the woman asserted that she had never registered to vote, intended never in her life to register to vote and there wasn't anybody else there who would register to vote. Her 19 yo daughter ran out to catch us as we were leaving and said, "Wait! I want to register to vote! I live across the street and my mom doesn't tell me what to do with my life, I have my own kid now. By the way we just moved here from Illinois and Barack Obama was my senator there and he was just awesome." Then she proceeded to also volunteer to help with GOTV phone calls. This was a neighborhood with condemned houses, homes with code violation notices on the doors, and no one concerned about elitism or debating the relative degrees of sexism and racism in this campaign.

Today I also attended a state county convention where the leader of the Democratic Women organization for the county invited me to join their group after I was elected to be a new county delegate (this group will pick a bonus Superdelegate at the state convention!!). aside--This is my first time to do anything the least bit political in my life beyond voting or making a small donation.

Anyway, this leader informed me that she was really tuned out to what was going on between Clinton and Obama and just did not want to pay attention to any of it as she found all the drama and conflict annoying and distracting. It had put her off so much she hadn't even formed an opinion regarding who she would support.

Try moving in some different spheres of reality.

    Perspective.

  • Look at it this way

Whoever wins, America is long past the point of ever getting up off its fat ass to do anything about anything. America of 2012 will be the same America as 2008, just a little grubbier.

All you loons who were predicting Martial Law and Bush for Life are totally wrong. More likely that Obama will be the last President that Americans bother to elect. After him, no one will care or remember or bother with it. They'll make a reality game show out of it and it will get dropped after 6 episodes. America is done.

  • It is all he CAN do, luminesce

If it weren't Obama it would be some other convenient obsessions that allows him to spout his rage. Let him spout, his candidate shot both his own feet off--he's fallen and he can't get up.

  • What's wrong lumi?

    Don't go looney!

Hey Kate. Why do you stop taking your meds? How are you going to get better so you can start living in the real world?

  • cythera45

Do I need to be vaccinated against you?

  • Yo!

    KateTex in the HOUSE!

  • @unschooler So what are THEY concerned about?

This was a neighborhood with condemned houses, homes with code violation notices on the doors, and no one concerned about elitism or debating the relative degrees of sexism and racism in this campaign.

Did you get a chance to talk to anyone about what's on their mind? What they think is important?

  • Uncle Fester

Hillary had said consistently through her life, including this year that MLK has been one of her greatest inspirations and heroes.

Reagan gets a lot more credit than he deserves. The rich got richer and the poor got poorer. The nukes got enormous.

The economy peaked and then deflated rapidly under Bush Sr.

Polluters got all the regulations taken away. Global warming got a big bang under Reagan.

So how, did I feel when Obama praised Reagan the way he did? Quite sick indeed. I always thought Reagan was one of the most ignorant Presidents we had ever had. And Obama said the Republicans "were the party of ideas for the last 10-15 years or so." Really? And what does that mean? What then, were the Democrats?

Other Democrats have praised Reagan too - which is fine - there were some good short term things that happened "Chant the good" as Emerson says. But the reason why Reagan got along better with Democrats than Bill did with the Republicans is because Democrats were trying to demonize and destroy Reagan. Yeah, that makes it a little easier. Democrats are nicer.

All Reagan did was de-regulate everything, which was temporarily a boom for the economy, but more permanently destructive for our country and the world in terms of de-regulation that protected the public economy and the environment. He's the one who let all the utilities go private.

Want to know why all your bills are so high? De-regulation of businesses and utilities.

Regulation protects the public. It helps to keep the balance of wealth and power from getting out of control like it is now.

Regulation is good for the economy.

  • Once again ignorance

    I am not Kate.

  • lumi! You're a parody of a parody!

Hillary's insipid inspiration is Barry Goldwater!

Do not go gently into that sulfurous orifice; insert new batteries. A month hence, we'll see which bitch is which. I haven't the gorge control or the interest to count your infantile vocabulary on this thread, but I'm guessing well under a hundred words, most of them emitted many times. I've heard meth does that, or the end result of inbreeding and sheep herding, alternately. Ah, for Calhoun, a good man and a worthy adversary. Hearing you is like watching an infant soil itself.
