@majorajam
Hear, hear.
It's the fucking Scream all over again.
Ygggghhh!!
Is Dean unhinged?
Was Obama's speech enough?
Will Obama's GAFFE doom his chances with Whitey?
What is there to say, really?
We get the government we deserve.

@ Deeper Truth
Thank you for that clarification.
That's helpful and I'll bear it in mind.

@ Deeper Truth
Again, though, you throw around the word "racist" in a way that I think obscures and hampers understanding more than it elucidates.
With all due respect, please consider what you mean by the word and be sensitive to the fact that it's so freighted by this point as to be of limited productivity.
If you're really serious about having a productive interaction (and I suspect that you are), please, please, please reflect on this.

deeper truth, maybe you should change your name to pollyanna
Everyone knows that for Democrats you could never win by being racist. It denies and defies even the most basic commonsense logic.
Have you ever heard the term "southern democrat"?
As for Ferraro, an decent person would have said: Obama is standing against Sen. Clinton because he beat out about a half-dozen worthy competitors, not "well of course it's because he's black" or whatever.
I think Ferraro's situation as vp nominee was a bit different from Obama's...the democrats were specifically looking for a woman to broaden the appeal of the ticket. Correct me if I'm wrong. So no, she was not sexist for saying whatever it was that she said about her gender...I guess.

no point to miss
Deep Pile, the personification of wounded virtue, postulates that those of us who disagree with him/her/it are duped, brainwashed, and biased against the Clintons. Before this election began, I thought the Clintons were tepid, DLC democrats, triangulators and calculators, bright but not terribly principled. The Clinton presidency was a mediocre melange of missed opportunities, and moral stupidity of the first rank that gave Bushit a shot to get close enough to Gore to steal the election. I think far less of them now. Ethically, I find no difference between them and the fascists we're trying to unseat. As far as policy, of course she's far better than McLame. so's Ron Paul. She has taken a twenty point lead and pissed it away. That is what we know for sure about her "leadership".

Race issues will continue to get better with time
As we all work for the good...
Clearly, race issues and matters since they Civil Right's Act are improving and will continue to evolve towards equality.
Our society is not yet completely equal. Most women don't get the same pay as men for the same jobs.
Societies generally don't become magically perfect in an instant. Societies evolve...
Personally, I think Barack's mixed background at this time is more inspirational - as a candidate than if he were just a middle class white man.
Similarly, Hillary's being a woman, is more inspirational to me - than if she were just a middle class white man.
Both of their candidacies is a sign that our society is evolving, and we are even excited about it.

now, that's the truth
Amen, Deeper. That's the whole deal, the point of the primaries. I do not intend to take my eyes off the prize: the White House, and increased margins in both houses of congress. If we can take the current whorehouse and turn it back into a White House, we won't need sixty blinking votes every time we try anything remotely progressive. Whatever horse gets to the line, filly stallion or gelding, I'm gonna be riding it.

Deeper Truth
I like your handle. I just want to say to you that I love black people. It is not my reason for voting for Barack, but with all the vitriol as you say on t.v. and the misinformation and Affirmative Action stuff going on...I'm not saying that people who vote for Clinton don't love black people, but I just want to say this as clearly as I can:
Toni Morrison is an author who changed my life. W.E.B. DuBois is an intellect I respect. And Obama is a black man who is also the most intelligent, by my estimation, person running for president. I support intelligence. His skin color does not deter me in any sense, but it is also not the basis of my support for his candidacy. You could say that to me one's "words" and one's intelligence are inextricably connected. I support his "words" and therefore his intelligence. George Bush wish his "words" also holds no respect in my estimation. I also see a link between words and action; I just do not see that Obama is not a man of action. I see action and words. Is this from my brainwashing? I sincerely do not believe that it is.
You write:
Many of you seem so unhealthily biased - and almost - yes - brainwashed towards Obama and against the Clintons.
Question: why is it unhealthily biased to care about and respect Obama and his campaign? Why is it unhealthy and "brainwashed" to have criticism of the Clintons? Are you saying that there is no "healthy" or "unbrainwashed" way to critcize the Clintons?
Much of your thinking is full of so much misinformation, inaccuracy, and vitriol.
Question: how can it be vitriolic to love obama? How could it be vitriolic to love black people? Wouldn't some of the misinformation in America also be that black people are inferior to white people? This is misinformation and I am not falling for that, nor for the vitriol on Fox news against Obama for his pastor's words which I believe are being artificially blown into a major issue when they should not be.
How do you expect humans to ever live in peace and understanding if you can't?
Question: how can our country ever live in peace and understanding if we don't give more love (not less) to the black people who have helped to shape our culture and create the wonderful nation that we do deeply love? Aren't we all responsible for living in greater peace and understanding? Can't Clinton's supporters also express a love and respect for the black people who most likely will vote for Clinton if she wins the nomination instead of disrespecting them for making a decision to vote for a candidate who has actively sought and won their support? Can Clinton's supporters refrain from comparing Richardson to "Judas" (that is a quote, from Carville, not an instance of brainwashing or mininformation) because he decided to support Obama? Can Clintons' supporters stop attacking the intelligence and the honesty of those with whom they disagree?
There are many, many, many, many people in American who think very differently than you.
Question: 1. Are you certain? 2. If this is true, how is it a good thing?
