  • So Move Already

I am beginning to grow impatient with the talking heads and journalists who continue to preface their comments with "I dont believe Barack Obama meant to say..." or "I know Barack Obama is not..." and then continue to relate questions or concerns "others may have." If you have a legitimate basis for your "concerns" about Barack Obama's beliefs or policies on race, then please enlighten the rest of us. If not, then move on.

  • Wright not his mentor

Read the letter Wright wrote. He makes it clear he was never Obama's mentor. Obama has described him as a "spiritual advisor.' It would be respectful to use his terminology.

  • making the case about MISLEADING THE AMERICAN PEOPLE:

Remember the photoof Obama wearing a somali costume the Clinton campaign leaked to the press in order to confuse and mislead the American people that he was a muslim

Clinton campaign manager Maggie Williams responded that: "If Barack Obama's campaign wants to suggest that a photo of him wearing traditional Somali clothing is divisive, they should be ashamed." What will they say about this?

    (Cannot attach the photo)

Clinton and her daughter wearing Muslim outfit. Are they moslem now? or will she say "i took thousands of pictures; I do not remeber" the famous line?

See how Bill looks so Ghanian did he sell America?

Shame on you Hilary for deceiving the American people and blaming Obama.

  • Clinton is clearly deceptive

And I read some pretty convincing proof today.

  • @unschooler

what a FOOL! to be surprised! i never would have imagined mr wright so naive. everyone who's ever been part of even a "man-in-the-street" interview knows you are going to be twisted to an agenda. why ANYONE would let the news interview them (unless they HAD to - running for office, hawking a book, pushing a cause) is beyond sense.

  • Who's saying what: Searching Salon letters

I did a little poking around the Salon letters archive and retrieved letters based on simple keyword searches:

What's lacking here is context, though it's hard to see any favorable context for "cunt hillary" or "cult Obama".

  • re: Wright a fool?

So instead of a vicious hate-monger he is a trustingly naive Bambi who believes in the goodness of people?

  • that was the one time i allowed myself a dig, AKA

and that only because she tried to shut me up after i got REALLY tired of that irish cow telling me how to vote. i told her to disinterject herself from our election and micki ups herself into the thread and says she took offense at that - so i gave her something to take offense at. no apologies, thank you very much.

  • hi unschooler, i'm glad you took it the right way!

yes, it's wright i thought a naive fool. he OUGHT to have more sense than to trust a newspaperman. where has he been hiding all these years? but yes, i think he's more trusting than hateful. why would he have become a marine? instead of the cook that was expected (and a whole lot safer)?

  • @ weeping for brunnhilde re: Shaken

I'm not quite sure what to make of it. That's why I asked. But, saying that he was "shaken" and remembers that his odds of getting elected are lower than "conventional" candidates didn't sound like he considered the recent events to be quite as helpful as you suggest. I thought it sounded like he was lowering expectations, like some reality was setting in after flying so high for so long. You know, like the electability question.

  • @ david sugarman

I am not saying never get mad. Many of us get mad and justifiably so, but why does that justfiy flinging racist, sexist, or for that matter, ageist taunts and insults at each other?

We cannot fail look at each other as people with legitimate concerns and reach some sort of, if not agreement, at least understanding of each other.

I did once use the word Obamabot and I am ashamed that I did so. However, the time has come to find a way to lay aside these forms of communication.

Do Obama's supporters really want him to win if he gains the nomination? Do they? It would be really sad if they would rather harbor resentment and grudges that be a part of enacting true change.

Over and over Obama has spoken of change and of bringing people together. Is this nothing but words to some Obama supporters?

In truth, if Obama were to achieve the presidency at least one grievance would have to be layed aside: That it isn't possible.

I admit that I have doubts but I also have hopes. If not Hillary, then Obama. I shifted my allegiance from Edwards to Hillary. When the time is right, I can shift it to Obama. There are lots of people like me. Do Obama supporters want us or not?

"There is nothing worse than a hate-driven hypocrite. Nothing.

And that is why Mr. Obama, Reverend Wright, Louis Farrakhan, and any formerly oppressed person waging war on the enemy using the same weapons as their named enemy and at the same time claiming moral highground and thus the right to do it are more dangerous than the original wrongdoers. This level of hypocrisy knows no bounds, and this level of hatred knows no limits. The victim seeks ultimate payback, and if you listen to these men speak they want death and destruction to come to the enemy. All non-blacks should heed this as a warning, because you are the enemy according to these men and no punishment is severe enough."

......she is not on record as hating approximately 50% of living Americans. This fact is the only one of import in the upcoming election, because if we rationalize hatred and excuse it we become our own worst enemy. Words matter, but actions matter even more. Mr. Obama listened to hatred for twenty years, and did nothing. Because of those words and his non-action, he has become the hypocritical enemy."

You are going to lecture people on love after posting things like this? Look in the mirror yourself lady and figure out where that paranoid rant came from. What an illustration of how people justified Jim Crow.
