ljwalker: if the shoe fits indeed.
Yeah, we know all about your history in Washington and all that. You've already said that. Many times. I agree
at times you've indeed been a good writer and a valuable particpant.
However you also tend to jump and thump people without really reading things or know whats going on, condescendingly assinging equal blame to people who aren't doing anything As example in no way was my reference about suspecting someone was a Republican about you whatsoever and the italic I pasted was nothing from any of your postings.
I will say it again: IF you are using racism, gender, agism, or any other "ism" to divide and fuel hatred, I will call you on it. It does not belong in an honest discussion about either candidate, their supporters/followers, their policies, or their record.
That's fine. I agree. But since I'm not and I haven't even by the admission of the sane Obama supporters, I will just appreciate it if you bother to offer something in the way of conclusive evidence before casting me in with those spew ugly invictive in every one of their postings.
It's very insulting and I certainly don't appreciate it.

Dean
If these state primaries had been winner take all, we'd have a nominee today, and we wouldn't be in this mess. Howard Dean is an idiot.

@ MaddieP: Thanks and a Comment
I appreciate your post. And I appreciate your perspective. For the most part I have ignored the abuse, especially that posted by the "anonymice", until Salon eliminated that (thankfully).
Unfortunately, we have lost AKA Smith -- an "honest broker" as far as I could tell -- and we are in danger of losing others who have come to these boards only recently (KateTex is one example, although she has done a yeoman's job of holding her own against tremendous hostility and disrespect).
If you review my posts, I think you'll see that I, too, have been an "honest broker" on these boards and work very hard to bring constructive dialogue and conversation. AKA Smith left (as far as I can tell) from the same race-baiting and gender-baiting tactics and name-calling that seems now directed at me. This seems to be a pattern that I find very dangerous, very disheartening and very dishonest. It isn't something that any of us can or should continue to ignore.
I am so disheartened by this abuse that I have taken to making copies of these posts and forwarding them to the candidates' campaigns and requesting that they publicly denounce and reject this type of hatred. I have also contacted Salon's editors and asked that they do the same.
Thank you for your kind and thoughtful comments and suggestions. Losing AKA Smith, I think, is what has finally moved me to take such extreme action. However, I have also called for an end to this type of "flaming" (too mild a word, imho) in other letters threads at Salon and on other sites. For now, though, I will target my efforts to Salon because I believe it is the best site and I do enjoy back-and-forth, honest debate and dialogue on the issues.

Primaries
I like the proportional arrangement over winner-take-all as I find it more fair. It is also still the primary season. While we all would like a winner (presumedly, our own choice of course) the race is still on. It can be argued that it is healthy to have choices for a change.

-- Jameka
You wouldn't expect the "racist" Clinton to do anything about it (she is, by the way), but what has the new messiah contributed to the discussion about millions of Black Africans being slaughtered by Arabs in the Sudan on a daily basis? What has he said he'll do about it when he gets into office? Samantha Power is an "expert" on genocide yet before she resigned, after showing how incredibly naive the Obamatons are, I read nothing about Obama's policy on genocides and/or the Darfur genocide in particular? Where does he stand?
You've "read nothing" because you haven't looked evidently. A simple Google search....

@ shawnwm: And I Apologize When I'm Wrong
However you also tend to jump and thump people without really reading things or know whats going on, condescendingly assinging equal blame to people who aren't doing anything
If I do this -- and yes, there have been times that I have misread a post -- I ALSO apologize.
I will reread your posts. I appreciate your feedback.

Thank you, LJWalker.
I appreciate your honesty. I agree you've been the target of some very mean-spirited bigotry, but unfortunately it's been by the same people who have gone on and on ad nauseum calling me slurs I wouldn't even repeat and unable to write a single message without referring to me as a "racist white male".
Bigotry is bigotry in any form regardless of whom it is directed at and we will never get anywhere if we allow it to be toleratated at anyone at all.
I admit I do wonder if some of these people, the ones who are posting under multiple sigs and want no part of reason at all, truly aren't Republicans willfully here to try to divide us.

@ShawmWM
So let me see if I have this straight. When blacks voted overwhelming in election after election after election after election for white Democrats, that was okay but when they vote oberwhelmingly for a black Democrat it's "emotional bigotry", right? Stange how you didn't seem to have a problem with black voters so long as blacks voted overwhelmingly for white Democrats.
Also, I'm sure hispanic voters are sleeping better now that they have the ShawnWM seal of approval for their votes.
