How do you figure? Everything I'm saying is supported mathematically. The larger the numbers of result sets the more likely it is that complicated variables were involved.

When there is only one outcome it's highly more indicative of a simple cause and effect result.

Note I've been careful to say indicative in all of this discussion.

  • @ignatius

No problem apologizing at all. I sincerely don't want to upset her or anyone undeserving of it and am happy to have reasoned discussion with persons on the other side. Unfortunately it's only been of late that I've realized that's possible.

However it is definitely time for me to take a time-out from all of this too. I'm all for honest differences of opinion, but I will admit the raw vulgarity of the worst offenders here has been a real big turnoff. And that may be the understatement of the century. For my part in allowing their disgusting vulgarity to make me paint all of BO's supporters with the same dirty brush, I apologize.

  • @ manos (and others who engage in hatred on Salon)

You are a small minority of posters on this site who seem to think that calling other posters "racist" or "bitches" or "hags" or other names, and falsely claiming that we/they refer to Obama posters here as "obama maniacs" or other derogatory tags helps your arguments. It doesn't.

I have never posted a racist OR sexist comment on this site and I have NEVER referred to Obama's followers as "obama maniacs" or used any such derisive adjectives.

On the contrary, I have always given credit to Sen. Obama where credit is due, while raising legitimate questions and concerns about him and his record. I have used factual information to support my arguments in favor of Sen. Clinton and to raise questions and concerns about Sen. Obama.

Unfortunately, you and several others -- (tom payne, madamefauntroy, shawnwm to name but three) -- seem to think it is acceptable to use racism and sexism, to engage in ad-hominem personal attacks, to engage in race and gender baiting, to use red herrings and generalizations, and to use other extremely dishonest, hostile and abusive language to get your points across. I have no tolerance of such behavior and care not which candidate you support.

The type of posting you engage in is not only dishonest, it is divisive; it is extremely personal; it is extremely abusive. It isn't hopeful; it isn't articulate; it does nothing to advance the conversation or to answer HONEST questions and concerns.

You seem to believe that if you use hateful words and language about others long enough and often enough, the strategy will work. I guarantee you this is not the case.

I call on you here and now to STOP the personal attacks, to stop using racist and sexist comments about posters and about candidates, and to end your dishonest, hostile, inappropriate and dangerous language to further divide us.

I challenge supporters of BOTH CANDIDATES to call these posters and others on their words and behavior.

Anybody who uses raciscm, sexism and other "isms" to fuel hatred and division must be called on it. Ignoring it, as history proves, does nothing to eliminate it!

  • Don't whitewash walker

You can't squirm out of your race baiting inflamatories. Your sainted halo is sliding right off your head into the slime where much of the muck you sling around here originated. I suggest you take a good hard look at yourself before you try some kind of ten cent teflon tact. I don't know who you are or where you're from, but there are times when seem like the most racist redneck to ever rear its ugly head. And nobody to my knowlege has called you a "bitch." So don't insult us, don't play the saint, because you miss. walker, a saint you ain't. You say you're a journalism major, and I'm sure you carry its field bible, but don't try to confuse the truth, with your disengenuous libel.

  • madamfauntleroy, you're a trip!

(that's a compliment). i'm trying to figure out where you get your toughness. black female lesbian? that's my guess; hope i'm not being derogatory. now i'm going to take a bath and go to sleep - looking forward to talking to you again (along with the rest of the stable).

Screw you for even having the audacity to lump me in with that vile crowd and accuse me of the racism that I have yet to participate in.

What I HAVE done is call a spade a spade and bigotry bigotry even when the lion's share of that bigotry just happens to be coming from the black community - many of whom apparently are used to being able to freely spew their racist slurs while and expecting everyone else to tip their hat politely. I will no more tolerate racism against whites or Jews or hispanics or women or Christians than I will against blacks. And it's really not OK when it's blacks doing to to others just because once in a while someone does it to them.

If it upsets your delicate sensibilities that's just tough.

True, Bill Clinton did not save Rwanda as Nixon, et al, didn't save Cambodia from genocide. The bald reality is America would not have stood for American soldiers dying in Africa. And you know it! Right now as I type this there's genocide happening in Darfur. You wouldn't expect the "racist" Clinton to do anything about it (she is, by the way), but what has the new messiah contributed to the discussion about millions of Black Africans being slaughtered by Arabs in the Sudan on a daily basis? What has he said he'll do about it when he gets into office? Samantha Power is an "expert" on genocide yet before she resigned, after showing how incredibly naive the Obamatons are, I read nothing about Obama's policy on genocides and/or the Darfur genocide in particular? Where does he stand?

This branding of the Clintons as leaders of the KKK in America based on an outrageous and venal lie will come back to haunt the perpetrators, count on it. It may be effective in knocking out Hillary Clinton, but a valuable lesson is being learned by others. Believe that!! Don't be surprised if you have at least eight more years of Repugnican rule.
