They should hold statewide primaries, or short of that, pick delegates through a caucus of some party membership entity.
This is an example of why we always lose. You want to spend tens of millions of dollars to reward two states who broke the rules. I am a lifelong Democrat but if this kind of insanity goes on much longer I'm out of here. Split the delegates 50/50 and be done with it. But no, that doesn't have the potential to help Hillary destroy someone with the temerity to not think she is entitled to the White House. Only the Democratic party could, faced with nominating a replacement for the most disliked person in America, would chose the second most disliked person. If Obama doesn't win this thing I'll quit this party...and I don't think I'm the only one thinking that right about now.
This is about as fair as it can get.
Obama's campaign are masters of the caucus. It would be outrageous and extremely unfair to make both states caucus in place of the elections, BUT there is a compromise that would work.
In Michigan he was not on the ballot, Hillary was. So no real conclusion can be drawn, only a "what if?"
In Florida he WAS ON THE BALLOT. According to people living there, there Obama signs and ads to be seen, even if he did NOT visit the state. The election was held in the midst of a tide of Media Obama mania.
Clinton had a stronger presence, but she didn't do a full-time campaign there either.
Since both were on the ballot on Florida, and he was well-known, and getting heavy media coverage at the time, it's disingenuous to say that Florida's vote was held in ignorance of Obama and his message.
Of course Obama supporters could say that "if he campaigned full time" but he did so in Oh, Tx, Ca and lost by similar margins (Tx was closer).
By all relevant measures, the vote in Florida seems to reflect the typical margin of victory Hillary has enjoyed in her victories in the major states. She has won them all except Illinois.
To insist Florida was a fluke and Obama would have won would be to deny the facts on the ground in other states.
The best one could say is the race would have been closer, BUT YOU KNOW WHAT!
Obama has done one thing that virtually ensures he could NEVER win FLORIDA.
Obama's comments on Cuba virtually ensure a solid OVERWHELMING PRO-HILLARY vote by the MIAMI CUBANS.
They are the "deciders" of Florida and have been for decades.
If the Cubans en masse oppose a candidate in Florida YOU DO NOT WIN. In this case Obama's position on Cuba has made it virtually impossible for him to win Florida.
NO AMOUNT OF CAMPAIGNING by Obama is going to convince them to vote for him.
So all in all the Hillary's victory looks pretty solid.
The solution would be to divide the delegates based on the current rules and move on to Michigan to make the compromises.
now how do you get Obama to accept this?
Offer them an open caucus in Michigan that would replace the vote there.
This would automatically grant team Obama a huge advantage based on his caucus results so far. His team are masters of the caucus.
Michigan based on primary results so far is Hillary territory, BUT it's location makes it far LESS so than say Ohio.
Illinois is close, but fortunately for Hillary, the major metros are all on the East part, distinct and apart from Chicago's influence that predominates on the Western part of the state. Obama's ace is the African American city of Detroit in the heart of the East side of Michigan. While the Suburbs might look Eastward, Detroit, the city itself, would look to Obama.
The victor would be a big guess. Polls would show them in virtual ties.
Ideally it would be best to hold two new elections, but the time and money factors make this extremely difficult.
To get Obama's team to cede Florida would require giving them MORE than EVEN ODDS in Michigan.
Michigan probably is as close to "neutral territory" as one can get. Both players have their "big support factors" in place in the state.
Obama's overwhelming black support, youth voters, upper income liberal whites vs. Hillary's working class and middle class, 40yr+ voters.
The other reason for giving Obama the upper hand to start in Michigan is that it is a smaller delegate state. To counterbalance ceding Florida and keep things fair, he should get that advantage there.
If it did come to this, the Michigan caucus should be held by itself perhaps AFTER the last primaries in order to give Hillary time to focus on winning a caucus, something Team Hillary has so far performed miserably.
Soft sell: SNL and The Daily Show media blitz
Hard sell: The Canada NAFTA story, still unfolding, was lied about. That was a BIG deal in Ohio.
Why she will lose it: She had been running for Prez since she started running for the Senate. She voted against the interests of her party and positioned herself as a hawk for the general election.
I believe many Democrats feel the way I do; we felt sorry for her before last Tuesday--having run into a much better candidate with a real message of change and hope. But after the last two weeks of Rovian politics we are no longer sorry for her, we are disgusted with her. She has divided us to win. If she wins we lose.
Howard Dean said it best: "The rules were set a year and a half ago. Florida and Michigan voted for them and then decided that they didn't need to abide by the rules. When you're in a contest you do need to abide by the rules. You cannot violate the rules of the process and then expect to get forgiven for it."
I said :
1655 HC vs 1732 BO. So what ? Let's just do it and call it a day. BO has won, period.

Except that there are still some states to go, aren't there?
Yep, and Hillary will carry PA, WV, KY, OR and MT. Barack will get the others. End result : 280-300 more dels for Hillary, 310-330 more for Barack. End of story...
Who decides then : either the supers or John Edwards. Best educated guess : the supers won't go against the popular vote as they know the Party would explode (and the whole "super system" itself would go down the drain). So it's up to John. Whoever convinces him to be her/his VP has won. And a Barack/John ticket would definitely look better, at least for this Obama supporter...
