Get your facts straight and stop spouting MSM misinformation and Obama talking points.
1. Obama's name was initially on the ballot in Michigan. He later filed paperwork to have his name removed from the ballot. Political stunt or not, he had every opportunity to have his name on the ballot, and chose to remove it.
2. Obama broke an agreement between he and Clinton not to campaign in Florida with television ads while Hillary did not.
A joint ticket would bring a little peace. You won't be happy that I just heard on NPR a rules committee fellow saying that he was sure the committe would be glad to hear any solutions from Michigan and Florida. He says that they are there to negotiate these things. --AKASmith
Wow, this article must have hit some search engine, lot's of first time posters (I'll get back to that shortly next post) with lot's of sound and fury.
A joint ticket probably would appease the restless hoardes of partisans, but would it strengthen the ticket, or re-inforce weaknesses? I could see either Obama or Hillary looking at somebody like general Wesley Clark or Joe Biden to re-inforce the foreign policy or military angle to try to blunt McCain's War Hero status, to name only one area. That's why I think we need another few weeks to look at things. How fast McCain moves with a V.P. choice and how centrist or to the right will also be valuable to look at.
It's great those DNC rules committee idiots are pulling their heads out of ... the sand. I just hope they can move things from screwed to less screwed.
Since you feel following the rules is important then the only solution is to not seat the delegates and not have a re-vote. All the candidates knew that MI and FL were going to count.
The cost of moving the Democratic primaries in Florida and Michigan to an earlier date is an injustice to the citizens of those states as well as the nation. Talk about disenfranchisement. This is on a scale that makes the 2000 presidential election in Florida look like a practical joke. Shutting out the citizens of the these states from choosing their nominee might anger them to the point that they either stay home in the general election or they vote for McCain out of spite. We can't afford that. Even if these primaries still don't provide us with a decisive winner, at least the super delegates will have a much better idea who's more likely to win in the general election.
Also, if Hillary wins the nomination, she'd be insane not to choose Obama as her running mate and I would hope he would not let his pride prevent him from accepting it. Its too important that the Democrats take control in Washington and turn this country around before our economic, environmental, and international relations problems become nearly impossible to solve without paying too high a price. Our indebtedness to China, global competition, global warming, and the ill will from the international community that we have so rightly earned should alarm everyone. Unfortunately,it may take more than just one "Village" to solve these problems.
Terry McAuliffe seems to have suggested a revote strategy in Michigan and Florida. That's a very smart strategy for Hillary Clinton. It's a far less cynical and scorched earth approach than simply affirming that the Michigan and Florida delegates ought to be seated (in spite of the fact that a true election was not held there in either state), and best of all (from Hillary's perspective), it puts Obama on the defensive. He can either denounce the strategy and look like he is opposing the democratic aspirations of two important states, or he can roll the dice and agree to elections, the risk being that these are states more favourable to Hillary and he'll probably lose them. If so, it increases the force of her argument that he can't win the big states that Democrats need to win in November. It's a no-lose strategy for her, but I had hitherto thought that naked ambition and typical Clintonian cynicism would preclude her from adopting it.
Heck no we should not go back to Michigan or Florida because 1) The Democratic Party will waste money that is needed to fight McCain and 2) Hillary may get ahead of Obama.
HILLARY DOES NOT NEED TO BE THE NOMINEE BECAUSE SHE CAN'T WIN AGAINST MCCAIN. I mean come on, you Hillary lovers are fighting a loosing battle. Okay, let's say she wins the nomination--she ain't gonna be the president!!!
It infuriates me when all of these petty, neglible discussions emerge about going back to MI and FL so Hillary can come back to beat Obama. If Hillary wins the nomination, McCain will surely win the presidency and all of this small talk will be for not.
The Democratic Party (Howard Dean) needs to make unbiased decisions about what is good for the party. OBAMA IS GOOD for the party because he, NOT HILLARY, has a better chance of getting to Washington. Is that not the ultimate goal for Democrats?
The re-do in FL & MI looks to me like a good tool for sorting out all the partisan, victory at any price, we had to destroy the village in order to save it types in either camp. There's also some thoughtful types in the middle.

I am not familiar with the issue, but I believe they should vote again. [name witheld]

Yes it does. It's a Republic, can we keep it?
Here are some of the losers, posting for the first time.
Get a Grip
What kind of USA wants Obama to be our president. OMG. his middle name is hussain[sic]. I dont care where he was born, what he is, what he is about. I want to move off because he is probly going to blow us up. were going to give that man the keys to our beloved country come on now. I keep telling my self this is a cruel joke why would any one vote for that man. he is a towel head. we banned them from getting on planes and we want him for president. I think NOT. GO HILLARY.
The sooner we get rid of all the Clinton's the better off the country will be. I have talked to so many women voters here in North Carolina and not one of them said she would vote for her. They are the reason for nafta and she needs to accept that fact and move on. She is a dirty politian and does not need to be our president. Scare tactics are so low and that is the kind of president that she will be, low, cheating and dishonest. LInda J
