  • Anyone Calling For An Ignore Option

Is a pussy. Is that a common trait in the male part of the Obama camp?

  • *sigh* WES. You're a troll.

    This is me disengaging.

You got me. I responded. Boy is my face red. Congradulations.

  • Oh Yes Of Course

The scientific data of all the Obama supporters being the only democrat in their entire families, and all their relative republicans like Obama.............Good God All-mighty.

  • they should bak Obama, so we win in the fall

Why is this so tough to understand? Does anyone in the media notice that poll after poll, Obama kills McCain and McCain beats Clinton? Pennsylvania, Colorado, Wisconsin?

  • Keep going ...

proving my point. Salon - any reply on this? It's really disgusting.

  • Obama Hillary Obama Hillary OBAMA HILLARY

    OMIGOD, I'M FREAKING OUT!!!!!

  • The winner is Goldman Sachs

We all know the winner is Goldman Sachs, top contributor to Obama's campaign. This is money they made shorting toxic mortgage bonds, and driving their value further into foreclosure country. No winners here. Keep looking

  • Dukakis

Was up 20 on Bush coming out of convention.

  • Typical Salon definition:

Troll (n.) - Someone who disagrees with you.

  • Joan - there is a right way for super-delegates to vote

You do a disservice to yourself when you ignore the legitimate criticisms of your columns and only reply to posters who are obviously over the top. I'm just waiting for you to come in to this thread when an Obama supporter publishes something particularly silly or incendiary.

As far as your premise goes - if Dem party leaders believe that their judgment should over ride the judgment of the voters, than they will be in for a rude awakening come November.

The scenario you postulate - a candidate being disgraced after the delegates are seated can easily be be rectified by . . . the delegates themselves! At any time a pledged delegate may change his vote - if it was revealed that HRC or Obama did something particularly egregious, I have no doubt that delegates would switch their votes in a heart beat.

No one is arguing that super delegates don't have the "right" to vote how they wish - that simply a straw man argument YOU and other HRC supporters have created. The question is; given the fractured nature of the primary season and the reasonable belief that many voters would be extremely upset if super delegates decided the outcome, SHOULD they vote against the pledged delegate count. And the answer is obviously no.

Do not engage in willful ignorance Joan. There is a right answer to this question, you just have to be willing to set aside your personal biases.

  • ironocrat

Riiiiiiiight. Being called a pussy has nothing to do with it.

  • My God, it's a Pathology

Given the macro-trend in their favor the Dems do not need to run this election out of fear. Yet, level of fear and genuine cowardice that seems to be driving this party at this moment is disappointing. If anything, this is our achilles heal.

Look over at the GOP some time- negative politics turned it into a flaming shambles. About half of the primary votes being cast are protest votes AGAINST McCain. The surest way for Dems to absolutely squander this advantage is to be reactive, rather than proactive.

Basically, the one sure way to lose is to fail to stand up for what we believe in. Indeed, Republicans in 2006 lost the farm because in the pursuit of winning they forgot about the principle which were supposed to drive them to want to win. The sacrificed peinciples for victory and ended up with neither.

Even if the GOP is out there looking over at this race, so what? Republicans are not magical creatures able to manipulate people at will. Calculation is not the same thing as leadership.

  • Dukakis was caught on a boat called Monkey Business with a blond in his lap

Anymore non-examples you wish to feed us?

  • The accusations of being a troll...

    ...came before that.

  • That

    Was Hart dummy.

  • Life Long Progressive

Having been a life long progressive,(I'm 51)I plan to vote for Obama. This is the best chance we have had to elect a true Progressive in my lifetime. Clinton is not a Progressive. She's a center right Democrat.

If the Democratic Party (to which I belong)nominates Clinton, while Obama wins more pledge deligates, states, and out-right votes I will NEVER vote for a Democrat again in a national election, nor will they get another dime from me.

The Green Party is established here in the Pacific Northwest and I will devote my time and money with them.

If Clinton wins the majority of pledged deligates, so be it, my guy lost fair and square. If the Party hacks supplant the will of the people I'm done with the Democratic Party.

Right now, Clinton would have to win all the remaining states by 55% to win a majority of the pledge deligates. That isnt going to happen. Clinton is toast.

  • Don't Expect the Worst

Yellow Dog - I agree that the superdelegates are interested in supporting the winner. Despite the claims of Hilary haters - that the Clintons are some evil superbreed of politicians, more ruthless than any other - I don't see them or any other party leader wanting to split the party by appearing to undo the will of the voters, especially when the Democrat party now stands to win everything - a bigger House lead, a fillibuster proof majority in the Senate and the Whitehouse, if they can just keep it together.

I don't think there are large quantities of Republicans rushing out to vote for Obama because they think he will be the easier nominee for a Republican to beat. There are still plenty of raciest out there, but those people tend to be down on women in general and Hilary in the specific, so which candidate they hate more and perceive as being unelectable by their own worldview is probably a toss up.

On a personal note, my spouse and I had both been truely torn between all three leading candidates, having reservation about each of them. We both wondered if there were enough raciest out there to make a President Obama impossible or if a solid majority of this nation had moved past these limiting filters. In talking to the people in our community which is 70% Republican it appears that Bush is completely loathed, Hiliary is not trusted, and Obama is thought of highly. In my daughters Junior High where kids are are no doubt repeating the sentiment of their parents acutally voice that "Bush Sucks" and "Obama is cool." I don't know what it all means, but I don't know that it is giving me hope.
