  • @ Gitano : STRONG WORDS FROM A PERSON WHO OBVIOUSLY GET'S HIS LIKABILITY FROM THE MEDIA

    Gitano:

First of, the comment Imus made was a racist comment and he was fired for that comment. So don't make less of that comment.

Secondly, men like Imus and Matthews are inferior to women. The only reason Imus' wife is with him is because he has money. Would you really want to wake up to that face everyday and not have something in return? Also, it is his wife who is the brains behind the camp for the sick children, he just funds it.

Chris Matthew is sexist, he may be still married, but he is sexist. He is lucky to have a wife that stuck with him through his alcoholism and I give her a lot of credit for doing so, but Matthews is and always will be an idiot. For someone to hate someone so much he was all googlie eyed when Senator Clinton had given him a hug. His face turned all red. He is a little sexist boy in a big sexist boy's body.

Third: The blame for the comment belongs to David Shuster and not Hillary Clinton. You can say all you want, but she defended herself and her family in the letter; would you expect less? Wouldn't you do the same thing? If not, then you would be called a whimp.

Fourth: You ask; Did you ever maybe think there's a reason Matthews and Imus dont like Hillary?

Did you ever ask either of these great sexist men? It seems you know all of their thoughts and have a very close relationship with both of them, so why don't you ask Imus and Matthews why they are inferior towards Senator Clinton.

Fifth: Your comments of "Matthews is a pussycat" and "Imus has a ranch for kids with cancer."

What are you joking that YOU are calling Matthews a "Pussycat"? Matthews is a slob no matter what. He was denied a position under the Clinton administration and has used this to spew his negativity about her throughout this campaign. As far as Imus, I have already stated that he may have a camp for the children and he may show up every now and then, but that does not mean he is not sexist.

FYI....there are documented reports about Imus and his sexist attitude, so he is not one you should defend.

Sixth: Your ignorance shows in the following comments, which are: "Hillary has a track record of disingenuousness, outright lies, and self-interest above all else."

.....Words are easy to write, but why don't you provide me a case in point? You are just like the men you so fondly write about. YOU DELIVER THE SPEW OF IGNORANCE AND HATE.

Seventh: You write: "How else to explain the Iraq war vote."

Hello....Hillary was not the only democrat to vote for the war in Iraq. Let me provide you with the names of a couple of guys who also voted for the war....remember John Kerry and John Edwards? They also voted the war, but it seems that all the blame is always directed towards Senator Clinton, who by the way has a plan on file to get our troops out.

Eighth: Your remaining lines are jibberish. Maybe you should do your research and know the cases you claim, which by the way are no longer valid points.

    Ninth: Pattern of conduct?

What do you mean by this? Have you ever spoken to Senator Clinton? Maybe you are penalizing her for things she had nothing to do with, which is sad for you.

Hopefully, YOU will get out of the sexist mindset and start writing comments that have actual facts.

  • You are so right.....

It amazes me that so many people for whom English is a first language totally misread Hillary Clinton's statement as asking for Shuster to be fired.

It's obvious she referred to a systemic problem that won't be solved by anything done to Shuster.

I agree with you too, that if Shuster had made that statement about any female in Obama's family, he would never work in television again.

I think the reaction to Hillary's statement points up exquisitely the hatred that people hold for her, which drives them to misinterpret everything she says, and ascribe evil motives that don't exist.

I too waited for Obama to say something about the Shuster remark and the continuing mysogeny at MSNBC. That he chose not to comment has served to strengthen my resolve not to vote for him if he wins the nomination. I know you believe strongly in uniting the party no matter who is the nominee.

Sorry, but I went past that feeling a long time ago. I'm old enough to have suffered quite a lot of sexism in my day. Those woulds have opened again, and very often it's Obama supporters who open them.

  • I'd like a good scapegoat.

    Seriously.

In fact, I'd like the heads of a bunch of "reporters" on pikes, paraded through the town square.

I am beyond sick of what Mark Twain was describing when he said that freedom of the press was all too often simply license of the press.

However, since there seems to be a severe shortage of pikes, not to mention town squares, I'll settle for a scapegoat.

I guarantee nothing else will succeed nearly as well in making other schmucks with press passes stop and think before they make their next nasty crack on the air.

  • The Punishment Fit the Crime

I agree that what Shuster said was out of line and he should have been suspended. However I think it's time for Senator Clinton to drop it and get back to more important issues (like explaining why she missed the FISA vote today). Having seen the entire Shuster episode I really felt like he was using pimp much like people use (and misuse) other words - like bitch. Unfortunately many derogatory terms relate to women - but don't think all of that can be blamed on MSNBC. But I disagree that Obama should weigh in -- Chelsea is not a child she's a grown woman. And she is now a willing public, active participant in the process. So it is inevitable that something off color or insulting might be said - it happens to all politicians - male or female. If this had been ignored by MSNBC then there would be a complaint. But it was handled - swiftly and harshly. I think continuing to talk about it is an overreaction and can harm Clinton's assertion of how well she can handle tough situations. In order to do that one needs a perspective - a direct, personal assault would have been much different - but Shuster was just another dumb guy tossing around a word that's become so common people forget it's true meaning. E.g. - the word bitch (I've seen it used for men and women - so is it still an insult- I'm not sure). As for MSNBC being sexist - I think that is partly true. But I think you have to look at the other angle. I've heard MSNBC and others ask why Mitt Romney's sons aren't in Iraq, the military - but haven't heard that asked of Senator Clinton, even though she voted for the war. Is that reverse sexism? I think both Clinton and Obama use their minority status to their advantage - while also suffering for it on the other end. But I'm becoming more concerned about freedom of speech and how people let words affect them - when there is no evidence of intentional harm. If Senator Clinton truly is ready to be President then I think she needs to be careful about playing the victim too often - because I think that more than anything has hurt her campaign.
