AKA and dataguyx
Colleagues: let's cool it and work together. Support your candidates and make your case. No point scoring. In the end we need a place where we can meet to give St John the heave ho! Help!
-
Here is that Broadsheet thread.
People can read for themselves that I made no attack upon Obama. They can also read for themselves the language which dataguyx chooses to attack those who disagree with him. We all have a right to defend ourselves. We all have a right to discuss the issue.
I happen to oppose parental notification. You can read for yourself the grounds on which I take that stance.
Just as any rational person would call out racist language when they hear it, I will continue to point out sexist language. Sexism is no more excusable than racism.

Your pro -clinton slant
is absolutely putrid.

You want to know what it feels
like to be a scuzzy, self-deceiving Republican journalistic hack, every chance you get picking the weirdest-least plausible perspective of interpretation, creating false balances when the sides are seriously unbalanced? Well, it feels just like you do now, sweating out your pitiful prose, your guts twisting in your own agony of dissonance. Stop this moronic pro-Clinton primary coverage. You look like fools.

As an actual black person,
not a group, statistic or arguing about who would make the best president, I'm starting to get really pissed off.
First thing that's pissing me off is everyone insisting that black people are racist for voting for Obama. Black people also voted for Kerry, for Gore and for Clinton--in huge numbers. When blacks vote for Obama, all of a sudden we're intolerant? WTF! I'd say it's more a case of us being chronic democrats. Black people's voting pattern most closely mirrors those of socialist democrats--who are often not black. Obama is considered the more liberal candidate, so it makes sense blacks are voting for him.
Second thing that's pissing me off is the sudden hatred blacks and hispanics are supposed to be feeling for one another. I live in Chicago, which ranks fifth behind New York, Los Angeles, Texas and Florida, in largest number of Hispanics. I even live in a predominantly Mexican neighboorhood. I've never had any problems with Mexicans and vice versa. This whole line is just manufactured BS. In Chicago, blacks and hispanics get along; heck, sometimes we're even friends!
Third thing that' pissing me off, is everyone's obsession with all of this mixed-race stuff. All black people in this country are mixed. Hispanics are mixed. White people are mixed. WE'RE ALL MIXED. GET OVER THIS LIMITED LINE OF THINKING.
Sheesh!

Obama
Joan,
If the media is swooning over Obama, there is good reason; his campaign is a people-powered event, much in the mold of Howard Dean. It's a bottom-up kind of thing, as opposed to the top-down affair run by Hillary and her tired old DLC consultants. Take a look at their fundraising profiles, and you will see the whole story-- he is raising a ton of money in very small increments, she is raising a ton of money from fewer, larger sources
Obama is offering us fresh and new. Hillary is selling same old, same old. Is it any wonder that the media is excited too?

@ bordeaux
her tired old DLC consultants
Just how old are they? Do any of them have their teeth left? Are you thinking that they need Botox or hip replacements?
When something new, new comes out do you always buy it?
When non-perishable products are old, old do you throw them out? Are waistlines in or out for spring? Don't tell me you still have your Doc Martens?
I heard there is a new, new drug out just about like the old, old Prozac but prescribed for a new new made up disease. Are you going to buy it? Cause it has the label new?
Are there any actual issues that you might actually care to discuss?
In your reply to me, are you going to use words like stale, exhausted, worn out?
-
I made a mistake
Chicago actually has the thir largest population of Latinos, after NY and LA.

AKA Smith
You've got to be kidding me! After reading these posts on Salon, it seems like more Obama supporters are trying to discuss the issues that Clinton's. For reals.

Support for Obama
"First thing that's pissing me off is everyone insisting that black people are racist for voting for Obama. Black people also voted for Kerry, for Gore and for Clinton--in huge numbers. When blacks vote for Obama, all of a sudden we're intolerant? WTF!"
I'd say that support for Obama is pretty broad. It is certainly not confined to black folks - I am not black. There are many people who feel that Mr. Obama is doing a fine job providing a broad new and expansive view of our nation. He is attracting many types of person. he attracts whites, students LOTS OF STUDENTS, women, men, blacks, browns and all those uncomfortable with Her Inevitabilityness. He gets huge contributions, and is WAY ahead of the Clinton folks right now in contributions.
I believe that the NM situation is very interesting. Here we have a very Hispanic state, and Obama is neck-and-neck with Clinton. If the IDIOTS in the NM Democratic Party would have taken their heads out of their butts, they might have printed enough ballots. As it was, there were roughly 25 % of needed ballots available. That's just appallingly shocking. There have been PLENTY of amazing things this primary season, and we know only one thing for sure - turn out is WAAAAY up, and the New Mexico Democratic Party seems to have missed that totally. In fact, I believe that the New Mexico Democratic Party Chairman said that turnout would be small. What an idiot.
Mr. Obama is poised to have a good 2-3 weeks. The Potomac Primary will be very good to him, and the Ohio primary is not out of reach. Texas? If NM goes Obama, many amazing things will happen.
I do know that it is time to turn our attentions to Mr. McCain, and stop the relentlessly petty infighting that so many false Democrats seem to love. We need to discuss our differences fairly, and save the live ammo for Mr. McCain. For those false Democrats still fighting within our party, you are served notice that this is becoming embarrassing and in very bad form.
