Freedom does not mean freedom from civility
I guess Oprah feels that it is appropriate to denigrate those who question her because she is free.

May the Best Candidate Win
At this point, the day before the vote that will probably decide the nomination it's clear what a class act the Dems are this year--just in time. The spats have mostly been manufactured for the purpose of maintaining a distinction for the nominating process--not substantive from a moderate perspective.
That Oprah is defensive about the gender issue tells me the feminists of her generation have finally gotten off their high horse and made themselves known. I saw it in New York this weekend at the rallies. Older women are finally starting to "come out."
I'm going to vote for Hillary--not with great expectation--but because I think she's the best person for the job. I think she's basically been loyal to her principles--regardless of what her critics have claimed. All those years in public service and all that abuse at the hands of a bigoted hostile faction have earned my respect. She's fought an incredibly courageous battle.
It may be her last and only shot, whereas I do not think it is the same for Obama. If he's as serious as he says he is, he'll be back for more and his constituency will have another chance as well.
I'd vote for him in the general election in a flash, but if his constituency won't return the compliment and vote for Hillary it reflects more harshly on him than anything else I've seen so far. I think the hotheads and ideologues have done enough damage.

to lil hoffinger and all you other negative nellies
Oprah is free to her own opinion. Just because she thinks Obama is the best choice is no reason to call her a traitor for not backing someone whose policies she does not agree with. How would you feel if a stranger approached you and call you a traitor. That's not exactly "questioning" as you say, it's more like an assault. (Especially if it is being expressed as vehemently as it is here.)
I wonder why Clinton's celeb supporters (like America Ferrara) aren't getting it as bad as Oprah? But it's not surprising, people really hate on Oprah; It's really cause people can't tolerate a strong black woman that has as much power as Oprah.

rufus1133 did you not learn anything the first time?
If you think Obama is a better choice vote for him. I'm proud to be doing the same. Argue for his better points.
But Hillary hatred isn't going to convince anyone. If anything, it will shore up her support. And it makes people like me, who don't politically support her at this point (although I will in a general election if she wins the ticket) frustrated enough to consider it.
Seriously. An attack on a woman is an attack on all women. Just like a racist comment is an attack on all people of another race. Unless you are a covert operative, employing reverse psychology--I don't think your vindictive arguments have a place or are going to/or should carry the day in this election term.

Looks like I whipped you good, Assyrian

Welcome Home, Garry...I see they let you off your psychiatric hold!
Ah, they've released Garry! Let the games begin!
It's a great day. I liked Joan's post, Obama's chances are looking good tomorrow, and it's obvious -- you LOOOOVE me...you LOOOOVE me, yes you do! That's why you just can't leave me alone. You can't get enough of me and my posts! You even come trolling around LOOKING for me on threads -- you simply can't get enough of me! I love it!
Kiss me, you fool!!!
Now, while your lithium kicks in, I'll get serious. Re: my post -- I believe in telling the truth, for truth's sake. And in giving credit where credit is due.
And on this post, Joan got it right. She's gotten it wrong on some posts in the past, right on others. She did an evenhanded report of the day's activities. But when/if she gets it wrong again, I'm sure I'll speak up about it, as I have in the past.
I just call it the way it is....Joan did good on this post. You're still nuts. And Barack's got momentum!

@Ben Sen and Others -- Chabon's "Obama vs the Phobocracy"
There's an excellent column by Michael Chabon in the Washington Post today, called "Obama vs. the Phobocracy." (I put the link in my name/sig, but it's also easily Googled.)
It's a really incredible piece, and I urge you to read it before you vote. I wish anyone who was on the fence, or who was voting for Hillary without true zeal, would read it...
Here's an excerpt:
"...Oh, sure, most of these people tell me they would like to see Obama become president. No question, he comes off as at once brilliant and sensible, vibrant and measured, engaged and engaging, talented, forthright, quick-witted, passionate, thoughtful and, as with all remarkable people whom experience has taught both the extent and the bitter limits of their gifts, reasonably humble. In a better world, people tell me, in theory, sure, having a president like Barack Obama sounds great. But not, you know, for real. Not in the base, corrupt, morally spent, toxic and reeling rats' nest that we like to call home. Things are so bad we just can't afford to waste our votes, people tell me, on some fantasy super-president with magical powers. We need someone electable, someone, as I have been told repeatedly in the past year, who can win. Of course this misses the point; it misses all kinds of points. In a better world, if there were such a thing (and so far there never has been), we would not need a president like Obama as badly as we do..."

@Taliesan
Chris Matthews is on MSNBC, not Fox. So, either she wasn't talking to Chris, or she wasn't on Fox.
Anyway, the dems were only boycotting Fox sponsored DEBATES. Interviews are something different, if in fact she was on Fox and not talking to Matthews.

Obama and Mayor Nagin similarities
Here is a scary parallel. Folks, Mayor Nagin won reelection in New Orleans post-Katrina (after doing nothing for a year post-Katrina and who is still doing nothing) by casting his opponent as a member of a dynasty. Nagin also reached out to minority voters that he never reached out to before Katrina. It worked for Nagin and he got re-elected. I hope the public gets wise before it works from Obama. It worked for Nagin because no one called Nagin on his hypocrisy.
Nagin like Obama can be a good speaker and is a decent looking fellow. But, it is scary that Obama has taken a couple pages from Mayor Nagin of New Orleans' campaign and speaks the same rhetoric about a dynasty while reaching out to people that he never supported with his actions.
Take for example the shenanigans surrounding the Obamas purchase of their home. Obama taking help from his Syrian friend is no different to me than taking favors from a known drug pusher. Where is the vetting of the candidate Obama? Why is Obama being treated like a kid, while Hillary is subjected to endless scrutiny. Is it because the media knows Hillary can take it? Or, is it because the media does not know if Obama can take it or how Obama's powerful media friends will retaliate?
