I have agreed with your comments this week, and been perplexed but not surprised by charges that you have a bias.
But, while you admirably and correctly note that the racial intent of the MLK/LBJ comment was made up the next day by the talk and media press, you once again just won't go the next step. You just can't seem to bring yourself to identify these miscreants who gin up these stories. Why can't you tell us that it is your friends such as Howard Fineman, Frank Rich, Gail Collins and Bob Herbert to name a few. Why won't you name Chris Matthews and Tim Russert?
When they do this is the Fall is Salon going to celebrate them as insightful as they repeat myths, fables and yes, fairy tales of Republican virtue while calling the Dems any thing they can make up. Will they tell us that Mr. Clinton is reported to have been seen talking to a crack prostitute on Sunset and Vine or that Mrs. Obama wears a Burka while at home.
Really, just once give us a name. Please.

the media and hillary cliinton
Al Gore was lied about repeatedly and the media repeated the lies over and over and over and over again.....if Hillary Clinton is constantly lied about, I will also be angry ... I was deeply distressed over the stolen election, bushco, etc.....
but I am really just seeing, dislike. Is dislike mysogyny? Is it a form of mysogyny? I don't think so...I think Hillary Clinton is bringing something else to the table that is turning people off.....
If Hillary Clinton doesn't want anyone to think about her gender, she needs to pull her husband back. This is NOT like Michelle Obama, her husband is an EX PRESIDENT.
Do you know what she looks like? She voted for the war and, generously, to save her political hide (I don't think she was so dumb as to not know that the wording was air cover to not be explicit that it was a war resolution. That resolution was a WAR resolution. Nor, do I think she was taken in by the phoney evidence. If she was, then she is dumber than I thought. Some attorney. If she has double secret evidence about Saddam Hussain, she better bring it out. He is dead what does it matter? If she is bound by some sort of governmental rules to not do so, say so. And don't lie.) She introduced a flag burning amendment, was pretty much a Senate carpetbagger (although that is certainly New Yorkers' business, not mine...), her husband is campaigning like HE is running, she is surrounded by the DLC, and is basically now entranced in a growing oligarchy.....
This does not seem like a Leader to me. This seems like a Follower.
She is not inspiring new voters, and she has lost people who are close to me who backed her. The Bill Clinton factor is just too much.
Are we going to CREATE a third world political system dominated by a few families because we are just too scared to back anyone else? Of COURSE dominent families will claim they have the "experience" and everyone else is just...lesser and simply unprepared. That is what they do!
Have more confidence Americans. We don't need 2 freakin' families. The Clintons do not have a DIVINE right to the presidency.
Wannabe oligarches dripping with revenge, disguised as liberals. Change that to conservatives and see where we have seen this before?
Is Obama some sort of perfect candidate? No. But the message of change is resonating and for a VERY GOOD REASON. We are a stronger nation than our leaders, but will be weakend if we knuckle under our own fear of change.

Why does anyone care what Pat Buchannan says? I mean really, how did this guy become the expert on ANYTHING?!?

Backfire?
I think the Obama camp's charges about being double-teamed by the Clintons, and some surrogates' claims that they're running a racially divisive campaign, have backfired on Obama in the short term.
REALLY! So according to your analysis, Obama could have won 100% of the vote in S.C.
P.S. As a birthday present to myself, I spent $6 to order a bumper sticker that says "Bill Clinton needs to shut up".

We can't even find a way to talk about color, so how are we supposed to talk about race?
Why is it ok to call white people white....but not call black people black (or brown)? If we want to talk honestly about race then let's get some consistency and clarity - and equality - in our language. Whites and blacks, or European Americans and African Americans. I personally find the term "African American" pretty crazy, unless you are from Africa and are a naturalized citizen. After all, I don't call myself a German-French-Scots American.
Until we can remove political correctness from our speech, we can't de-politicize race. All this talk about 'sensitivity' - for heaven's sake, in a world where most well-off white Americans do not have a close black friend, 'sensitivity' is not the issue, experience and the understanding and empathy that come with it.

It is not the Buchanan's, Billy Bennets and Peggy Noonans who drive these narratives. It is our big dem Liberal Pundits. Of sure Pat Buchanan is a long time documentd Holocaust Denier and has no business on television. But, do Dem voters listen to him? But supposedly we do listen to E.J. Dionne etc.
If you need evidence please read Frank Rich's article in this month's New York Review of Books; and see if you can find all the factual errors and down right made up stuff. But, on Scarborough he will be called a great man who really does his research.
It appears that to most of the letter writer here whomever they don't like is a phony for whom the will never vote. I gave money to John Edwards; but, I am hardly going to go out and vote for St. McCain because John Edwards isn't the nominee.
And just because the Republicans say they are going to make up more phony scandals doesn't mean this time we have to be stupid enough to believe the stories. Perhaps, even Salon will recognize that Mr. Clinton is not the father of Nancy Grace's twins just because Maureen Dowd writes it from France.
