Yip Yip! Arf Arf!
Tim Russert is a warmongering corporate lapdog.
So are Clinton and Obama.
This is just a distraction to help them sell us more war.

@old gringo
Jerry Springer is not a warmongering corporate shill.
Maury Povich? He is a shill for DNA testers not warbuckers.
There is a difference between sleaze and treason.
We would be better off with either of them in the White House rather than the choice that the warbuckers offer us.

Dem Debate
I have to say, I'm astounded by the media's (Villiagers?)insistance that the Obama and Clinton camps have somehow achieved parity in their nastiness over race and voter disenfranchisment(Nevada) issues. Yet only the Clintons have sent out dozens of surrogates to make nasty comments to the media--be it Bill Clinton, Johnson and Rangle, etc.- to name but a few- to slime Barack Obama. There was no such response from the Obama camp to Bill's "give me a break" moment, which should go down in history as one of the most disgusting campaign moments in ever. I would put that up there with the Willie Horton moment for Bu$h 41.
I'm also really put out with my girl Joan for the obvious blinders she wears when covering Mrs. Clinton. Her (Clinton's)performance on MTP last Sunday was hostile, shifty and defensive. Joan saw it as sturdy and uplifting. What a world!

Thank you Senators Clinton and Obama
I'm just one little tiny voice in the wilderness crying out for someone to adopt sanity as their mantra. I am so grateful that Obama and Clinton finally found the tact, courage and sense to veer away from the race/gender bait the media idiocracy is bound and determined to exploit.
That these candidates made their turnabout this day set aside to commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King, jr is significant. Legacy is so important. Dr. King authored numerous treatise on what members of the human race owe to each other as a matter of basic decency. "I have a Dream" is the speech most noted and for me will never get old. But there are the Dream's powerful precursors, "Letters from a Birmingham Jail," "Why we can't wait" and others.
Legacy. All together these literary outpourings show how our words and deeds are powerful. They serve as our legacy. Dr. King left an amazing legacy of words and deeds I want to believe had an impact at a cellular level on Obama's and Clinton and any real commitment they may have to changing their smarmy behavior toward each other. That they appear to be doing so without the fanfare of press releases and media bank of microphones and videocameras gives me hope. They are doing so by demonstration. I love it and hope they can keep it up. The necessary byproduct is the dissipation of empty campaign rhetoric that hopefully will default to relevant discourse about real issues, hard-core concerns and the FUTURE. I am so happy and pray for stickiness. Yay!

Yes, you are a total sap.
It is all part of the show, a confection and entertainment to distract us from the fact that the media, and the candidates that the media doesn't write off, are selling us more war.
You might as well take professional wrestling seriously.

Move on
Thrasher needs to move on and quit trying to find racism where there is none. How many letters have you written on this topic? 30? Hillary's years of public service and her record prove that she is not a racist. That is the real question isn't it?, not the obsessive parsing of what was said on either side. It is not one of the issues we should be wasting time discussing, but it is of course how Matthews, Russert and the rest of media whores want us to be diverted. There are so many other real issues, quit eating your own.

No!
I don't claim to speak for Ms. Walsh, but I think that by saying that Clinton and Obama did not take the bait, we don't mean that they are avoiding the question of race. They are simply agreeing that bickering over what can be interpreted as racist is not helpful. They did talk about race, saying that they take civil rights issues seriously and they all agree that it is important to move forward. I have heard them all say that we have made progress, but CANNOT afford to stop now.
I think that is right on. I don't know what else I would want them to say (besides maybe specifics on how they plan to move forward, which I think they all touched on).
I would just like to echo someone else's comment. How can you watch the debate tonight and not feel awesome about the Democratic party. I am PROUD of my party for once. Look at the issues that they are running on and talking about. They actually have platforms and visions for America. John Kerry never inspired me the way that Hillary and Barack inspire me. I feel like our party is in a good place right now. Let's not demand that our candidates try to rip each other apart; let's demand that we unite. I like thinking about our party as a family. We need to be united on the issues that are important.
Hate Hillary if you must, but I think you have to take a step back and say that objectively, she knows a good deal about the issues. She can speak very intelligently on a wide range of topics. I think that makes her a good candidate for president. I think Obama is a good candidate and so is Edwards... I like them all. I try to defend all three of them whenever I hear/see them being criticized.
I think all Democrats who care about our party should make a pledge to talk about our candidates in a positive manner. Of course, state who you support, but say why you support them and NOT detract from other Democrats.
We have a lot to be proud of, but we have a lot of work to do, no matter who you support. Let’s keep our eyes on the prize, we need Barack, John, or Hillary in office in 09.
