McCain wins early newspaper primaries

The Des Moines Register backs Clinton while the Boston Globe goes for Obama, but both papers endorse the former maverick from Arizona. Plus: Lieberman backs McCain, too.

The letters thread is now closed.

So did those Ron Paul spammers donate all that money?

I guess it wasn't newsworthy... I don't want to be accused of ranting and raving, but there does seem to be a single party running all candidates, the War Party, and I want no part of it.

How did all those Ron Paul spammers and autobots manage to donate all that money? 25,000 first-time donations, too. I'm certain that there's nothing to it and that if we ignore it, it will go away.

McCain? C'mon, you're joking, right? A brittle, angry old man.

They do agree on all the issues. 1. Health Care: The only difference on health care is Clinton and Edwards have plans to cover all Americans. Obama has that as a goal, but his plan does not cover all Americans. Read Paul Krugman's analysis of the plans in the NY Times. 2. Civil Rights: Clinton has an excellent record on civil rights, including working for Children's Defense Fund and saving Legal Aid Services which gives legal aid to the poor for Jimmy Carter. 3. I'm not sure what you mean by occupation of Iraq. All the candidates want to pull most troop out. Only Kucinich and Richardson want all the troops out. The rest, including Obama want some there and nearby in case of an Al Queda resurgence. Read their position papers. Moreover, if you do a nexus source you'll see that both Clintons repeatedly told Bush NOT to go to war, to let the inspectors do their job. 4. On economic policies they all want to pull tax support for corporations that out-source, etc. There is little or no difference. Although Biden and Edwards did support the Bankruptcy that made it difficult for the poor and middle-class to get out of debt.

Bill Clinton is not a Republican lite. If he had been, they would not have gone after him so viciously. Read The Hunting of the President by Gene Lyons and Joe Conason. They hated his position on gay rights, abortion rights, and raising taxes on the wealthy so he could balance the budget and pay for an increase in the earned income tax credit (which helps the poor and which Hillary wants to increase) and in the minnimum wage (which Hillary also wants to increase). However, he did have a Republican House that made it difficult or impossible to do many of the things he wanted to do after '94.

Finally, I didn't call you a Republican (that would be too cruel) but you do need to do some more research.

I've enjoyed talking to you, since, given your comments, I suspect we would agree on most issues.

I'll begin to use

big words and obscure concepts and references to long dead intellectuals.

then I'll be taken seriously even if what I speak is utterly useless bullshit.

I rant because I am fed up with seeing this nation heading down the wrong path for well lo seven years now. Everyone ACTS like they are in charge, or like they know what is going on, but the bus is driverless and heading into the gully.

Why not just admit to yourselves that as formerly empowered American citizens you are currently utterly powerless to prevent this nation's degeneration into fascism. Let's leave it at that. This would prevent innocents from falsely believing that you people somehow have power or know something.

Admit it. It is easy.

Lieberman endorses Mc Cain

I certainly wasn't surprised when I read today that Senator Lieberman is endorsing Senator Mc Cain for President. Nor, was I disappointed. Lieberman's stature has fallen greatly, since he ran as Vice President with Vice President Al Gore.

Eventually, the good people in Lieberman's home state of Ct. will have a chance to vote for change, I'm sure he will not be reelected as their Senator.

Brightstar: Why Not Try to Stop Ranting and Raging?

Brightstar65 did you ever stop to wonder for a instant what would happen if you stopped all the self-rightous screaming and thought about what you were saying? All those entries and you don't make sense, or offer a consistent approach. You're either too young or too emotionally unstable to take seriously. Why not just stand on the street corner and yell? When you do occasionally strike on an idea you ruin it with your ranting. I'm sure other sites will welcome you. Give us a break.

Wink, Wink

I'm not sure it matters that much who are what endorses whom at this point. There are strong cultural currents in this race that have nothing to do with the actual issues. That may be what pundits are for and take pleasure discussing, but the mob who currently rules this country could care less. The media is busy trying to show how much news they know, but to what end?

A black man and a "tainted" woman are running for the Presidency. Tell me there is no such thing as racism, homophobia and misogyny--and a tightly organized coalition that has learned how to read the winks--and I have a new skyscrapper I want to sell you in lower Manhattan that is a perfect target for the next terrorist attack.

As long as you prove you have no scruples about bombing the "evil doers" back to "kingdom come", and the gays need to stay in the closet, and you are a viable GOP candidate. Unless the Dems nominate Edwards, this election will be as much of a cultural referendum as a political election, but I don't see much admission of it. Probably it won't happen until after it's over and the country is in the hands of another Republican cowboy.

Speaking of prostate exams

If you are a male over the age of 50, or even 40 if there is a history of prostate cancer in your family, have your doc give you a blood panel with a PSA test, and yep, bend over and get your DRE, digital rectal exam. It very well could save your life.

So long Dan Fogleberg. Your music was kind of sappy sometimes, but you were a good egg.

The Unified DemoPublican Party

and its compliant unified media/industri-complex organ agree that the 300 million sheep should all unite to endorse THIS bought-and-paid-for marionette-- as opposed to THAT other bought-and-paid-for marionette.

To demonstrate a pretense of variety, other portions of the unified media/industri-complex organ will endorse yet ANOTHER bought-and-paid-for marionette.

Good programming. Nobody would ever suspect in this once great nation, that the people once actually had the FREEDOM to decide on a PEOPLE'S candidate, someone who actually endorsed positions that respected and played to the needs of the 300 million strong US population.

No need for those third party, independent thinking, unofficially endorsed candidates. No sirree, not when the unified media/industri-complex organ can lull the populace into voting for yet ANOTHER marionette that will work 24/7/365 to undermine the needs of the US population.

No need for vermin like Ron Paul, who actually DARES to challenge the existing unified media/industri-complex organ, with concepts like SMALLER GOVERNMENT, LESS INTRUSTION INTO OUR LIVES, NO ILLEGAL WARS OF PROFIT, A SECURE BORDER.

Is this Paul degenerate out of his mind>?!>?!>!

Who is HE? a MERE paltry human to challenge the existing unified media/industri-complex organ.

EVERYBODY KNOWS only the elites actually decide who gets to control, ream out, and destroy the rest of us-- our souls, our future, our freedoms.

No wonder I have ZERO faith in humanity left in me when people can't be bothered to actually realize their whole lives are a carefully programmed RUSE.
