  • FINALLY!

Thank you Dodd. You may have just won my vote!

  • Thank you Senator Dodd!

At least one Democrat is awake in Washington. I can't understand why most of the Democrats don't seem to give a shit about this bill. Thank God one is paying attention!

  • Thank you, Sen. Dodd!

I just received an e-mail from Sen. Dodd's campaign about this, and I want to thank him for being willing to take this action. I have not yet decided which candidate I'm going to support in the Iowa caucuses, but this is certainly one important mark in his favor.

  • Chris Dodd was not on my Presidential radar screen.

He is now and I made a donation to his campaign. But, no more money, support or free work for wimpy Democrats. Take a freaking stand!

  • Way to go, Senator!

I'm going to have to rethink my vote in the primaries if he keeps this up.

  • I am now voting for Sen. Dodd in the primary.

Senator Dodd just won my money and my vote.

  • It's shameful

It's shameful that this wasn't a race between Obama, Dodd, Biden an Clinton to be the first to place a hold on the amnesty.

Dodd has earned my respect and my vote in the primary today.

  • Radar Screen

Dodd hit my radar screen at the end of the 1st debate when responding to "what you would do in the first 100 days". He said "I'd restore habeas corpus in the first 100 hours".

    GO Dodd!

  • One true patriot

Someone who will stand up to corporatists and say no. I signed the support letter and I donated to his campaign. So far, Dodd is the ONLY DEMOCRAT that cares about his country and it's people. It brings me to tears.

  • Chris Dodd to block FISA bill

Finally a congressman who understands that it's our Constitution that defines us as a nation. Perhaps the other members of Senator Dodd's party will now acquire a backbone and stand up to Bush and the rest of the right-wing demagogues in this country.

  • Holy crap!

A Democratic candidate is taking a principled stand! It's like he's read the Constitution or something.

And, wait. Is that thing on his back...no...could it actually be...a spine?

  • Yes!

It's amazing that there is actually a politician out there who does more than just talk. It's sad that it's been so long since I have been so impressed. I too am now rethinking my primary vote, as Chris Dodd hasn't been on my radar either. In one fell swoop he has garnered not only my attention, but my respect as well.

  • Now Here Is A Real "Patriot Act" !!!

Although I am an avid newsreader, Senator Dodd was never on my list of "2008 candidates to consider." He certainly is now. My thanks to him for what he's doing, and to Joan Walsh for pointing this out.

These are very difficult times for real Americans who love the Constitution. We need no less than a leader with the courage to restore the Constitution to its pre-Bush glory. Neither Senator Obama nor Senator Clinton initiated such a move as Senator Dodd, although they easily could have done so. This gives me a horrible "waking up" feeling that neither Clinton nor Obama may be what we need to take our country back.

I will be waiting for either Senator Obama or Clinton to stand shoulder to shoulder with Dodd on this. I'm afraid it will be a long wait. Thank you again, Senator Dodd, and I hope the mainstream media will take notice of this very important story.

  • Finally, a Dem who has done something to deserve support

Thank you Mr. Dodd! And thank you Ms. Walsh for providing the link to Dodd's website. I have added my name to his petition and forwarded it to five other people who may not have heard about this. We've got to reward Democrats who DO THEIR JOBS by representing their constituents, particularly when it comes to something as important as protecting the Constitution. All the rest of you Democrats hoping to get elected, take heed!

  • I'm not sure I'll vote for him, but

what the heck, I just donated $100 to his campaign just for saying he would block that piece of garbage legislation. Boy, won't I have a red face if he doesn't do it.....ah, well.

  • He gets my vote

and I was a firm supporter of Ms. Clinton. I signed the page and sent the five emails--but I work for a govt contractor and so could not contribute, or at least it appeared that way in the agreement stipulations.

  • "Traditionally"

"since legislation traditionally needs unanimous consent by the Senate to be considered."

In other words it's not certain he will be able to block it.

  • Woo hoo!

I was sickened when I learned this morning that the telcom amnesty measure likely was going to pass. Where is the America I revered, where those who knowingly break the public trust are held accountable when they are caught?

Thanks to the telcoms like Qwest that obeyed the law in this matter and were (apparently) punished by our administration for their good faith.

And Thanks to Senator Dodd for restoring a corner of my faith in government. Why is this decency so hard to come by in Congress after 2004?

  • How can this be?

I thought Democrats came boneless only.

  • "like Qwest that obeyed the law in this matter and were (apparently) punished"

    No.

Joseph "Joe Nachos" Nacchio of Qwest Communications is an insider trading criminal of the same stripe as "Kenny Boy" Lay. He bilked Qwest stockholders out of millions of dollars. People who were Qwest employees who were compensated in company stock have lost everything and will retire as paupers.

It is a coincidence, that is all, that Qwest refused to break the law for Bush.

Joe Nachos only got six years in the Federal joint and he's got millions that the government can't touch. He's a bastard, so don't go making him a folk hero for refusing to turn over phone records.

  • I am looking at Democrats

but I have always been undecided and Dodd has always been on my radar screen, I have been angry at how the MSM and sometimes even Salon have reduced the primary race to a three person race in many instances.

This an incredibly important issue. My vote is going to the Democratic (or not!) candidate who I think is most aware of the importance of respecting and restoring our constitutional rights and our freedoms.

  • I am a libertarian.

But I just emailed the Dodd campaign and promised him my vote in the primary.

  • A democrat with a spine!

I'm impressed! Isn't it sad that it only takes a simple thing like this for a Senator to really stand out from the crowd? I just contributed $50 to his campaign, and am likely going to vote for him.

I wish my supposedly liberal senators (Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein) had half his spine.
