Democratic women tend to support Hillary Clinton. Female pundits? Not so much.
  • Ms. Doomsday

The only reason Hillary could possibly become President is that the Republicans have been so horrific for the last 7 years. Even taking that into account, Hillary is the worst person for the Democrats to nominate.

A poll taken not that long ago showed that 53% of voters WILL NOT CONSIDER voting for Hillary. Even with all of the harm that Republicans have done, none of them poll that badly on that question and that makes it pretty clear that nominating Hillary is about the fucking stupidest thing the Democrats could do at this point. People obviously have a strong dislike of her and do not want to see her become President. Everyone knows her by now. Opinions are not likely to change.

The GOP bullshit machine hasn't even warmed up yet (because they want her to be the nominee). That is why you are more likely to hear our idiot pundits talking about Edwards' haircuts or how Obama rhymes with Osama.

Meanwhile, Hillary draws support from big numbers of Democratic women whose political sophistication goes no further than "It's no fair that we always have a man President." Ours is the party of knee-jerk identity politics.

And another thing: A really sad thing about the Israel Lobby's stranglehold over the Democratic Party is that none of the other candidates is likely to call Hillary out for supporting the designation of Iran's military as a terrorist organization. Attacking Hillary for this wold appeal to the party's anti-war base, but I don't think that Edwards or Obama want to risk the ire of AIPAC and company.
