No, because the Congress is full of idiotic Republicans.
While it may not be true that most conservatives are stupid people, most stupid people are conservative, and that's the problem with politics in the U.S. The Republican party has become the political home of the stupid, the ignorant, the paranoid, the bigoted, and the religiously insane. Those kinds of people elect their own to Congress; see Helms, Jesse.
These Republican Congressmen are mostly hateful little bullies, and the nice guy Democrats let them run roughshod over them. Nice guys finish last, you know. Thus, don't expect to see a formal denunciation of Rush Limbaugh.
Harry Reid needs to enroll every last Democrat in a kickass martial arts retreat. Teach them the mindset of fighting back. Nice guys can beat up bullies, but only if they have the will. Right now, most of the Democrats are too nice and too wishy-washy for their own good.
Bottom line: our government is dominated by people with the mindset of stupid 14 year-old boys, the kinds of creeps who steal lunch money from third graders. Until the Democrats learn how to grab those 14 year-olds by the scruff of the neck and read them the Riot Act, the country will continue to suffer, and Rush Limbaugh will remain the clown prince of the bully boys.

Consumption Is Not Mental Illard
I can't breathe, I need *Oxy*. Real Americans eat real meals. I pita the fool, and that's the name of that tune, so hummus a few bars and I'll drink to that! Real Americans are not quiche biting, cheese-eating, monkey chow hounds, chomping at the bit like some dumb crumb. Real Americans are upper crust. Have you dined with the Limbaughs of Cape Girardeau? They put out a *fabulous* spread.

Will Congress denounce Limbaugh? Will Joan Walsh examine the crappy science, crappy journalism that Broadsheet supports?
Think globally, act locally Joan.
In your case, you should examine the crap being done in your name at Broadsheet. Shallow, one-sided, knee-jerk cheerleading that ruins the reputation you are trying to build up with Glenn Greenwald, Joe Conason, and your other writers.
Why not spend a good honest week comparing Broadsheet now with what Salon used to publish in mothers who think or other feminists articles.
Cause your shit right now? It stinks.
AFTER THAT, then you can worry about bloated addicted gasbag Rush Limbaugh is doing.
-
What would Dan Abrams think?
Tonight's MSNBC appearance was really, REALLY odd. From the looks of this article, you'd think (as I bet the honchos at MSNBC thought) that Walsh was in fact interested in defusing the Betray-Us advantage that the Republicans hold. But she punted. WTF?
-
Flying By The Seat Of His Pants
Rush Limbaugh served god and country by fighting the good fight against embedded anal cysts.
-
Trusting the untrustable...
I long ago wrote off the Republican's as thieves and sociopaths. I'm still most deeply concerned with the Democrats who voted against free speech in condemning the MoveOn.org ad. I mean, the Bushists are proposing further wars on top of their illegal and immoral Iraq folly, and we really need responsible, rational and sane people in the majority.

Making a Difference
I appreciate that you are on those programs, though I don't see most of your appearances: I have to ration my rage, and a few minutes with Chris Matthews interviewing some smirking neo-con and I am screaming so loud at the lout that he can probably actually hear me. Or at least my neighbors can.
But you are making a difference, Joan Walsh, because you are not shrieking, are not shrill, (and aren't smug and smirking and patronizing and condescending like all those know-nothing neo-cons--it is indicative of something that those creeps have managed to make paleo-cons like Pat Buchanan look good by comparison), and you have the arguments to quietly beat those guys at their own game. Keep it up, I say.
And, for the record, though I read Salon "cover to cover" most weeks, am an original HH fanboy from the old neighborhood, and love love love reading Gleen Greenwald kicking ass (again, with well-reasoned arguments), I like Broadsheet a lot. It's purpose is to attract discussion to women's issues, not to settle them or even necessarily to defend a particular point of view. That those who denounce this feature typically do so anonymously and spleenfully says more about the denouncers than about Broadsheet.
-
Let it go
I say let these creeps spew all they want. Like that Amadinijad cat, their words betray their stupidity.
Free speech is either free or it isn't. There is no grey area here.
-
Gee I hope so
I can't think of anything else I'd rather they wasted their time on.
-
Repeat after me....
We need new leadership in the Senate. Harry Reid couldn't lead a majority if the country's life depended on it (which it does)...
-
It's Amazing
The totality of right wing radio is rallying to Rush's side. All these turds do is question other people's patriotism. Then when the cannon is aimed at them they panic.
100 proof, pure grain, dish-it-out-but-can't-take-it wimps.

Did Congress denounce Dick Durbin (D, Ill.) for his U.S. Soldeirs as "Nazis" comment?
Sure, Durbin was denounced by many in Congress. As Lilmbaugh is now. But was there a resoultion against Durbin? I don't recall one.
Wha happened was that Durbin at first dug in and defended himself, and when the party pollsters siad that it was really hurting the party in overnight numbers, then Durbindid the crying-on-Senate floor routine. It was nauseating, of course, to see a vicious street-fighter and old-style ward-boss politician like Durbin doing the crying act, but that was the end of it.
-
Wrong again, Elephantboy
Dick Durbin (D, Ill.) never did call U.S. Soldeirs [sic] Nazis.
It never happened.
Try again.
-
Now that Gen. Clark is weighing in, this looks like a story that might get legs.
But you have to believe that Rush is loving this. I'll bet his Arbitron rating is going through the roof over this flap.
What's the old chestnut about getting down in the mud with pigs?
Joan, don't let Buchanan talk over you tonight, OK? And be sure and ask Buchanan about his own military service. He never served. Had a bad knee. Ask him if his knee got better.

We need some remedial history on what Senator Dick Durbin said about U.S. troops.
What Durbin said, in June of 2005:
"If I read this to you and did not tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags or some mad regime — Pol Pot or others — that had no concern for human beings..."
I suppose you could say that Senator Durbin did not make a literal comparison to American troops and Nazis. But of course, Rush Limbaugh didn't make any pejorative references to any broad groupings of U.S. soldiers, either. Limbaugh routinely, instinctively, praises U.S. troops. Limbaugh has criticized the few U.S. troops who have used their position and veteran status to undermine their remaining comrades' mission in Iraq.
So to Garry Owen but especially to Crook County's biggest Dick -- Senator Durbin -- I send out a sincere f.u.
