So are the conservatives here really backing down this badly?

Hey conservatives! Hey all of you who got here through the link on Drudge Report!

Question: Is there not a single one of you who will support Camille Paglia's assertion that Palin "cleaned Biden's clock" during the televised debate?

We already know Paglia herself isn't up to the task of providing supporting arguments for her statement. What about you guys?

When I say "support," I don't mean simply echoing what Paglia said, and I don't mean pointing out that Biden "sighed." I mean tangible, substantive debate points in which one person won on their mastery of the issues, logical arguments and rhetoric.

Cuchulain2007

The light is beginning to dawn on you isn't it?

You ask if you are in danger of becoming over the top like the other side? Guess what? "Your side" already is over the top. BOTH sides are over the top and keeping you occupied and distracted with the antics of the "other side" diverts your attention from the larger picture.

Your side screamed for 8 years about George Bush's version of big government, big government in bed with big business, etc. And rightfully so I might add. Now it's ok with your guy's version of big government?

You can't have it both ways brother. Big government is not mutually exclusive to one party or the other.

When will the final ray of light penetrate your thoughts and make you realize big government is the problem, regardless of party. Until we come to our senses and take back the power we've given Washington, nothing will change.

Camille: "Government functionaries should not be ceded the dangerous authority to make decisions about motivation"...

unless you are a goddamn homo who's had the shit beat out him.

In this case, we have a special person who's been cracked upside the head so this specialness warrants a distinction.

Fuck it. This is insulting to me.

I agree with your assertion, girlfriend. Criminalizing thought preps the foundation of a democracy for the heavy weight of tyranny.

Most liberals are as fucked-up as their conservative counterparts- which is exactly why they'll happily use law to enforce their own absolutist vision of the world.

Liberals go nuts when you bring substance to the argument

Paglia's column offers clear-cut presentation, citation of pertinent facts, strong thesis, and a successful exposition of the irony and hypocrisy of the mainstream media.

However, her premise is lost on most of the Salon readers, lost before it even gets out of the gate. Over their heads, not what they want to hear.

Looking through the hate mail from the mainly liberal audience, they are too obviously conditioned and brainwashed, have developed a tenacious sense of bigotry -- and, when challenged with basic truths or a well-delivered argument that goes against their dogma, they simply cannot handle it, and must revert to the favorite tactic of the stereotypical liberal thrall. They put forward hissy-fits, tantrums, and unsubstantiated insults as a "response" against those who intrude on their pitifully out-of-whack and perverse perspective. I don't mind the insults if they are substantiated. Like when I say that Obama is oh! so amazingly uhh-uhh-uhh-articulate when he reads his teleprompter, or when I remark on Chris Matthews and his "furrowing up the leg" as an example of the nauseating gushing pandering mainstream media, those derisive remarks are at least based on established evidence.

As a point of reference to the bigotry and effete empty-headedness of the typical "tolerant" liberal, just look at the first comment posted by euripedes923; said comment is based entirely on putting forward the "C" word, and offers absolutely nothing else. (Way to take full advantage of the first slot, euripedes923. What conversational mastery. What a substantive rebuttal.)

Any intellectually honest libs in the audience must be genuinely ashamed -- or at the very least embarrassed.

Regarding the aforementioned assassination jokes.

Dear Camille,

Just a thought; How come whenever Democrats are the party that is responsible for behavior that any reasonable human being would object to, the phrase used to attenuate perception is "no matter which party indulges in them". I appreciate that you are the most fair-minded of the Democrat members of the Northeast Media that I have read so far, but please note that all of the examples given were from Democrats. I haven't heard any such talk from members of the media from the Right; even talk radio's most extreme personalities. I'm glad you point out the glaringly obvious bias and double standards regarding Sarah Palin. Now maybe you can point out the love-fest that the-your term-Northeast media has with President Obama-(May peace be upon him)-and contrast it to the crusade against G.W. Bush. It's just sickening, really.

@Xrandadu Hutman: "In person I am fairly humble-"

An opposing lawyer in a matter once tried to pursuade me he was honest. what's wrong with that picture? Honesty, like humility is a matter of reputation. One cannot claim it, but can only earn it.

@DiddlerOnTheRoof -- making this up as you go along, eh?

Diddler: "Paglia's column offers clear-cut presentation, citation of pertinent facts, strong thesis, and a successful exposition of the irony and hypocrisy of the mainstream media."

-- the presentation is OK in the way that it would be for anybody with a little writing skill

-- the citation of facts is nonexistent (examples?); most of Paglia's statements rest on pure opinion ("Paglia cleaned Biden's clock")

-- the thesis is random and seems rooted in bias

-- the exposition is murky (and Paglia's example of hypocrisy amounts to a single instance in which the media didn't turn a drunken-Chelsea photo into an overblown scandal...not that they did all that much with the Bush twins either)

Sorry, but you've absolutely failed to back up what you've claimed.

Wednesday, July 8, 2009 02:17 PM

@Riverhill

Riverhill: "An opposing lawyer in a matter once tried to pursuade me he was honest. what's wrong with that picture? Honesty, like humility is a matter of reputation. One cannot claim it, but can only earn it."

Now you're just changing the subject. I asked you a question: What is your point? Do you have one?

@Phreedom

When will the final ray of light penetrate your thoughts and make you realize big government is the problem, regardless of party. Until we come to our senses and take back the power we've given Washington, nothing will change.

-- Phreedom

The same personality disorder clutches the brain stems of many liberals and conservatives.

They are both controlling assholes who'll stop at nothing to employ broad government power to usurp the rights of others to force them into a centralized and collectivized morality.

So, yes, I agree with your assertion.
