the hatred of Palin by women is perhaps caused by both shame and jealousy

I don't understand the hatred of Sarah Palin from women I know. Is it just blindly following an elitist media or is there more? I wonder if women react to her out of a jealousy or feeling of inadequacy. She finds out her baby will be retarded and goes ahead and has it. She reacts to her daughter being pregnant with a realistic but positive "we will handle this-it is a blessing" attitude. Her husband is handsome and helps her even to the extent he gives up his job when necessary. She rises to national prominence despite her blue collar, non-Ivy League education. I think her bravery makes some women feel so ashamed of their own cowardice that they want to destroy her, plus the fact that she is very threatening to the pro-abortion crowd. When did we as women give up our responsibility to not get pregnant if we have sex? Yes, there are accidents, but the numbers of abortions performed every year in the U.S. clearly points to rampant irresponsible behavior. If we want sexual freedom, why can't we rise to the occasion and protect ourselves? Instead we scream about "our bodies, ourselves" after we act as children. I think the fear of losing our freedom to act like this causes much of the anger towards Palin. She shows what a truly brave woman can do. Sure, she was not "ready for prime time", but can anyone seriously say that Biden is or will ever be ready? I even heard over the weekend how Palin "used her sex" to forward her career. Did she worry about her looks more than Edwards worried about his hair? Should she have dressed in sackcloth? Didn't Barack pose with his shirt off? Talk about a double standard...

Those women who say how Palin "paraded her children out" and thus opened her children up to criticism should remember how the Clintons used their daughter to walk hand in hand between them after the Lewinsky affair and how no one criticized that. Palin has been held to standards and criticized like no other politician I can think of in this century. I am most ashamed of the women who have joined in and I think they need to look in the mirror and ask, besides being conservative and against their beloved freedom to abort, how different is she than the politicians they adore?

Hmm.. maybe so

Barack gets a second term, followed by Michele? Yep. Might work out that way. Look around you. Stand back a bit, so you can see the sweep of history.

"Please then tell us about Mrs Palin's actual qualifications to lead and manage and unify the greatest nation on the planet. Be precise, now. Even one qualification? Half of one?"

In the general election of 2008, for the first time in decades, my wife and I registered and voted for Sarah Palin (not McCain, although his selection of Palin for vp improved our rather low opinion of him).

Sarah Palin's actual qualifications are obvious to all of us. She dislikes government. She embodies the genius of American civil liberty, private property, and industrial enterprise.

Those of you who admire Obama will be rewarded accordingly by more government, less freedom, greater pretense of safety and security.

I come here to read Paglia. Interesting to see how sharply our nation is divided: those who love life, those who don't.

@PattieB

PattieB: "My hope is that conservatives start to stand up and demand that this behavior stop and mock those, like Letterman, who think nothing of making jokes about the rape of a child."

What we just learned from Patti B.

Is that she doesn't care about reality

Palin-Biden debate

Lets examine the debate between Palin and Biden and how left wing media sheep , including Factcheck.org, missed or ignored the greatest gaffe in Vice Presidential Debate History.

IFILL: Vice President Cheney's interpretation of the vice presidency?

BIDEN: Vice President Cheney has been the most dangerous vice president we've had probably in American history. The idea he doesn't realize that Article I of the Constitution defines the role of the vice president of the United States, that's the Executive Branch. He works in the Executive Branch. He should understand that. Everyone should understand that.

And the primary role of the vice president of the United States of America is to support the president of the United States of America, give that president his or her best judgment when sought, and as vice president, to preside over the Senate, only in a time when in fact there's a tie vote. The Constitution is explicit.

Now Article 1:

The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no Vote, unless they be equally divided.

Article 1 does not even mention the executive branch. Joe Biden supposedly teaches Law and has been in the Legislative Branch for how many decades? Should he not know what Article employs him?

Other than being President of the Senate the US Constitution mentions no other job description of the Vice President.

But who did Media bash over the VP question? Sarah Palin not Joe Biden

Camille Paglia calls Sarah Palin an ignoramus

Camille Paglia: "Whether Palin has a national future or not will depend on her willingness to hit the books at some point and absorb more information about international history and politics than she has needed to know in her role as governor."

Translation: Palin's a ignoramus. This euphemism is the only way Paglia can bring herself to admit it.

Palin and family were treated poorly

Sara Palin’s family was on-limits big time by the media, her children ridiculed as not being her own (among many things), her husband smeared as a oil rig nut, her positions were not scrutinized as much as ridiculed all the while her debate with Joe Biden produced his mix up of foreign affairs and his mysterious Katie’s Diner ding dong as just another "oh that Joe" moment. Palin has had to answer over 150 FOIA requests in 2009 and numerous ethics complaints, all entirely motivated to hurt the woman, drive her family into poverty with legal bills and consume her daily schedule. Add to that the media and blog lies about embezzlement investigations and miss appropriating monies and you have to wonder if her presence alone was doing the people of Alaska a disservice. Oh, least I forget to mention, the investigations have found nothing, sorry NOTHING, the FBI charges are false and for those of you who quickly point out that one of her daughters is 18 and fertile ground for attack I say congratulations you can count. You’re in nice company with those who take pic’s of newly minted 18 year old girls getting out of cars.
