Paglia's stance is typical of the pseudo-intellectual who wants to take a contrarian position by out-sciencing the scientists. Unfortunately, it really is the case that the vast majority of scientists in the relevant fields of study agree that global warming is happening, and it is largely due to human activities - specifically to the addition of carbon-dioxide to the atmosphere, by the burning of fossil fuels.
People have generated lots of alternative arguments, which they use to fight this conclusion. The most common is the one Paglia advertises, "It's due to solar cycles." CP, it's not: solar luminosity has not changed as much as 1 part in 1000 in the last 20 years, so you can't blame GW on that.
A good place where the most popular 53 of these skeptical arguments are presented and then de-bunked by reference to actual science: http://www.skepticalscience.com/argument.php

That is were I stopped reading. How can a person get this wrong?

Porky Pig stutters.
I think Obama and Emanuel have handled the Blago debacle quite defty. The media has not even questioned their innocence, instead all the focus is on the clowns in Congress and Burris. Looks like Fitz has bungled another case.
Obama said several things in his campaign that made me question his intelligence.
1. After Russia invasion of Georgia,he said something about it not being in the Olympic spirit. It sounds like a line from SNL and of course the media ignored it. Frightening. Do they teach world history at Harvard?
2.Proper tire inflation as an energy policy. This is the one line that really blew me away. This wasnt a gaffe. A couple days later he defended the statement. This was his alternative to drilling on US properties, check your tires. Yeah,I know the knucklehead McCain came out in support of this idiocy, but Obama said it. What would posses someone to say or believe something this moronic? W,Algore,Lurch, and Obama are all Ivy league graduates and I cant figure out how they got out of high school.
3.Bomb Pakistan. What if a Rep has said this?
4.Grandma was a racist
5.You build economies from the bottom up,whatever that means.
On the other hand I have no problem with Obama sitting down and talking with anyone, including Iran. We have been doing the exact opposite for 50 years and it doesnt seem to be working.
Ms Paglia shows her true colors here. Only republicans use this term, listen to Limbaugh, Hannity, Gingrich et al.
It's Democratic Party, Moron.
I strongly urge subscribers to cancel their subscriptions, as I did, as long as they print Paglia's monthly garbage.
I do resent having to click on her link just to post a letter.
Bush voters cuddling with Paglia.
Paglia cuddlin' right back.
I would love for you to tell us why you bother with Paglia. She's been a crass shill for right wing ideology for some time now. If you're looking for viewpoints from the other side of the political spectrum, aren't there any thoughtful, intelligent conservative writers you can tap on the shoulder? Or, is it all about ad revenue and hits from the Limbaugh brigade who flock here at Paglia's every utterance? Given the decline in quality of the articles over the last few years, why do you waste precious space with her nonsense? Salon used to be a favorite destination, but every day I'm finding fewer interesting articles and wonder why I bother to subscribe.
She needs a ladle, to put a few more interesting ingredients into the stew and, if she still can't persuade the customers that the the vegetables and meat are fresh, she should throw it out. I don't know much about Freud but I think he posited that one of our basic instincts was cannibalistic. He was an Austrian, a people more famous for cream cakes and wiener schnitzel in gastronomic terms, but Camille's cannibalism of letters apparently sent to her would sustian old Sigmund's theory.
All the same, it does take some nerve to write four pages of twaddle and consider it profound. She doesn't extoll Raymond Chandler's metaphor for death as "The Big Sleep" but someone much more high-brow who called it "the long sleep". You see, in case you're not aware of it, Camille is determinedly high-brow although her loins do tingle on occasion.
Will this gay orientation journey never stop, even though people are being pulverised in Gaza? A journey on the old Orient Express would have been far more interesting and the train came to a final halt in Vladiovostok. That's kind of very foreign and, in general, Americans are uneasy about foreign places. It's somewhat similar to the attitude of King George V who was advised to holiday in Bognor on the English south coast to benefit from the sea air. His rude response to his medical adviser was "Bugger Bognor!", in the metaphorical sense, of course. I think it was that very same king that was remembered as the one who "disliked abroad".
Camille,
I am a conservative male from Texas. Make that very conservative.
I was born into a very liberal, pro union, anti capitalist house hold. I went to college as a liberal skull full of mush. The real world, the common sense and self reliance taught me by my now head shaking liberal parents and owning 3 successful businesses has made me the conservative I am today.
I read you on a regular basis. While I of course don't always agree with you, I always find you brilliant, funny and very entertaining.
I just thought you might like to know that a few of us conservatives in fly over country adore you. If someone asked me the 5 people I'd most like to have dinner with...you'd be on the list. Keep up the brilliant work. You make me laugh often. Sometimes at myself. Thank you for that.

"Palin's Revenge" = the current frigid front from the North. Palin to the lower 48...."freeze, baby, freeze!" By the way, how DOES that logic work when people claim the cold wave is a symptom of global warming??? Liberals have gotten unhinged from their own inborn intuition (i.e. common sense.)
Much of the initial coverage about Fort Hood turned out to be wrong. Is there anything wrong with that?
