  • Jupiter has nothing on Paglia this time.

I always look forward to reading Miss Paglia's perpective on the political and cultural scene but I really had a hard time getting through this one which I found to be more gaseous than what I normally expect. I "get" the idea that she doesn't like the Clintons. I don't care for them much myself for a variety of reasons, some of which correlate nicely with Ms. P's and some unique to my own viewpoints, but how can we integrate her current spate of conceptual flatulence regarding Hillary? Oh blame it on the Bossa Nova as well as the harsh coal mining environment of the Pennsylvania coal fields. I guess that's why eveyone else has it so easy because the coal miners are some kind of magnet for un-enlightened behavior and are able to subvert the standard process of human socialization. If this were coming out of some mealey mouthed sex-negative sociologist with a superficial understanding of how humans actually behave, I'd have understood it, but coming from Ms.Paglia I am confused...though not as confused as I was when Ms Paglia so famously came out and shared with the world at large that she had seen a true presidential figure in real life and his name was....Mitt Romney. That big phoney kennedy-esque haircut sits so ludicrously ontop of his statement regarding his religion...ha ha! I suppose the rubes will fall for it not noticing that in telling us how deeply he believes in the load o' crap that goes for theology in the scriptural farce as delivered by space aliens to Joseph Smith while taking a break from plagarizing Edgar Allen Poe's early attempts at the new literary phenomenon of science fiction and taking advantage of the rampant ergotism which fuelled the burning grounds of 1820's upper New York State, but he's all offended if we ask what that means. How dare we question a religious belief! I'm sure he's including satanism in the protected class of voodoo believers who have captured the weak and fragmented minds that are the result of our education systems adherence to the Standard Sociological Model...save us!

Well, if we get the government we deserve, it looks like we're gonna get it with both barrels this election.

  • The future with Obama

Obama is just a younger, fresher version of leftist thinking, where emotion is substituted for reason, and the distaste for logic avoids the necessity of dealing with reality. Hillary merely studied Saul Alinksy -- Obama practiced under his arts.

  • Why is Hillary constantly being equated with Bill's Sex Life?

That question might seem absurd, after all she is technically his wife, but in reality, they are a political partnership. It surprises me that anyone considers them to be a "traditional" married couple anymore.

To me the issue of his philandering is a NON-ISSUE. Who really cares? It's obvious the man does his own thing, and Hillary does hers. He'll be a great "First Husband," smooth talking foreign dignitaries, and keeping everyone happy... but the relationship between the Clintons really does not affect the actual issues. I mean, shouldn't the focus be on her political record, and her ability to govern?

It's this aspect of Hillary that I detest. It's tough to swallow her toeing the line on the Iraq War, and this administration's violations of FISA and various other Constitutional issues. I don't think she should get a pass for political expediency; these were all issues that are egregious enough and fundamental enough to our country's well being that they should have been fought at the time, not dismissed as politically inconvenient for her future presidential ambitions.

Maybe Barack Obama would've done the same thing; the fact is, he did not, and that is the reason he would get my vote over Hillary Clinton.

  • my problem wiith HRC

is your problem with HRC: general contempt for men

But I would take this one step further: a general contempt for herself

Her ability to tolerate Bill's compulsive philandering, calculated from a long-term political perspective, shows a kernel of self-loathing, an abstraction of abuse/unfairness that I find Victorian if not downright medieval.

I will always fault her for not showing his sorry butt the door back in Arkansas. A test of character, certainly, but one she has failed repeatedly. To then accommodate it while he was in the Oval Office is a national shame--not so much that he did it (human nature is a beast, right?) but that she just took it without even a blink. Is that the kind of human being we need as President? And none of this has anything to do with them divorcing, I think they make a fine couple; it has to do with dealing with reality, as opposed to sweeping it under the rug.

Zeppelin? Cami, darling, you need to lighten up methinks...

  • @nightfire

you have to be kidding. Since when have conservatives over the last 30 years used any logic whatsoever? In their ideology, in their governing?

Never, that's when. They're entire politics consists of emotional lies.

You might want to rethink that post, because, as it stands, it makes no sense. For the last 30 years those of us on the left have been the adults..the right has been childish and destructive.

    Editor:

The article regarding the wife of the former impeached president's wife is total hogwash! She stays with him because alone, she is nothing, always has been nothing and always will be nothing. Imagine if she had left him during the Lewinsky scandal. What? And leave the comforts of the White House? Who would have moved out, Bill or Hillary? Then, imagine cutting all the ties to their shrine, the presidential library and don't forget, the secret service protection. Imagine giving up all the first class, free, world travel she got at taxpayer's expense. Would she still be Mrs. Clinton, or Ms. Rodham?

On balance, there's really not a woman on the planet who would give all of that up in exchange for her husband getting a little something, something on the side.

For all the obscenities her husband has committed, hers by far outreaches his by this attempt to be president. Her greed surpasses only that of the woman in the Fisherman's Wife story who ended up with nothing.

Mrs. Clinton reminds of of someone who ignores the "one per customer" rule and goes back for more. Disgusting!
