It's time we stop screaming about all the raping that our army is doing in Iraq (which isn't happening) and start realizing that if they weren't fighting this war for us, we would have a much greater chance of getting our sorry, complaining, unthankful butts blown out of the sky!!

Oh, please...get the fuck outta here. What is actually occurring is that thousands more jihadists are being created each day we remain there. All these guys would not have been created had we not invaded and occupied a sovereign state and used Nazi-style tactics on their people. The continuation of this Nazi-style occupation is what's making all of us less safe NOT MORE!

In addition, hundreds of troops the past few months have been killed for nothing - because ultimately - as in 'Nam we WILL have to pull out. NO imperial power has ever prevailed in a war of nationalism.

While we're at it - your great imperial leader has now taken to withdrawing medical and other support for injured troops once they get home. The modus operandi is to declare these badly injured troops (many with head injuries) as having "personality disorders" then discharging them so they cannot receive benefits. Some great fuckhead leader.

As for the Dems "not doing anything" - hello! They haven't been able to do anything because the pansy repubs still haven't found the balls to stand with them and vote against Bush's outrages.

Clearly, you belong in a rubber room in a straightjacket with thorazine - just like your psycho mate, 'catherine100'. Why don't all you morons go back to Drudge or 'Free Republic' where you belong - and stop defecating over here?

So you want to Say it Like it is:

    1. There were no WMDs in Iraq.--Bush Cheney manipulated the intelligence. FIRST LIE

    2. Sadamn had nothing to so with 9/11. Still a LIE

    3. The U.S. has created a training ground for terrorists in Iraq that did not exist before our invasion.

    4. However biggest increase in terrorist training

is happening in Pakistan (our allies).

    5. In 2006 when the Republican controlled congress the only domestic spending bill they passed was for Homeland Security budget. When the Democrats took over in 2007 they had to spend first part of the session passing emergency spending bills, to make up for republican incompetence.

    6. Nixon promised he would leave Veitnam in an "Honorable victory". Instead he waited too long and the troops to get out and quickly in a "dishonorable retreat". Better to leave Iraq now. I still remember the TV images of the last helicopter leaving from the top of the U.S. embassy in Saigon as the Veit Cong took over the city. Not a pretty picture. Veitmese people were pounding desperately on the on the locked Embassy gates. Many desperate Veitmese (women and children) were pushed off the last U.S. helicopter as it left the roof, leaving these Veitmese who has supported the U.S. in the hands of the Veit Cong.

  • Camille Paglia

After briefly browsing through, almost got to page 2, I decided my time would be better spent elsewhere. I don't always read everything in Salon, but I'm going to confess that I wondered what didn't get published so that Ms Paglia could have her say. The woman appears to have a lot of disconnected and discontented bees in her bonnet. it seems to me that she's past her sell-by date when it comes to ideas; it somehow seems so seventies.

    I expect better.

    Aloha.

  • More and more desperately wrong Catherine

Now, concentrate. I was referring to the drug money Clinton is supposed to have flown around in planes. I saw the man who spread this story for the Republicans on TV -it was his job at the time. Yes, they paid him to do it. He stated that this was a lie. Do you know what a lie is? It's not TRUE. He even apologized for what he had done in the service of the Republican party. He'd had some kind of change of heart and realized what he'd done was wrong. All these stories were lies. Whitewater was a lie. It was Republican propaganda. Most of what you believe Bill Clinton did, he never did. You have been lied to. Your hatred of his wife is based on lies about her. The thing is, I know fascists when I see or hear them, whether they're white South Africans like the one who phoned me and told me I was a fool not to see the benefits of apartheid after I wrote a letter to the paper on the subject; or whether they're reformed drunks like Bush or corporate thugs working for the military-industrial complex like Cheney. Clinton was not a fascist or a thug. He was one of the better Presidents America has had. The far right hates him because he held up their 2001 project for eight years. How you could possibly work out which percentage of Americans really supported Clinton when most of the electorate doesn't even bother to vote amazes me. The fact is, he really did win two elections and could have won a third. Bush has stolen two elections, thanks to the Supreme Court and his friend, the entrepreneur who owned the company that makes the voting machines, which means he's still a loser. And now he's Nixon, holed up in the White House bubble waiting for the shit to hit the fan. And it will.

Thank you, thank you. You provide hope. I am a philosophy professor in Pittsburgh, and I was educated in Po Mo Mojo, and by pretending, to myself and others, to know what that nonsense meant I managed to receive a PhD. twenty years ago and consequently secure a tenured job teaching philosophy. But I have never taught, nor would I ever teach, such pompous trash neo-Parmendeanism to my students. Someday real philosophers will return to the American university. But with tenure in place, unless philosophy itself disappears -- which it may of its own p.c. toxicity -- we elders of the Po Mo crowd will actually have to die before that will happen. I hope I live long enough to see real thinkers and scholars, like YOU, return in sufficient numbers to change things. Philosophy really could be something useful and good if it were allowed in academe.
