  • Sorry, but you are easily decieved....

Do you think it's a coincidence the the rhetoric use in yesterday's address is verbatim to the 9/20 speech?

    NO!

The administration has nothing else to go on -- the war is a mess, there are no WMD's, everyone is under investigation for some type of corruption, and there had been absolutely no new ideas brought to the table in the past 5 years.

You cannot force opposing ideology at the barrel of a gun -- let us leave now and have them work it out for themselves.

    "Money trumps peace sometimes, hehe"

    President George W. Bush

  • I've had it...

I will not be renewing my subscription to Salon. If I want to read writers like Camille I'd head over to World Net Daily, "A Free Press for a Free People."

I'll still check out the occasional article via your "daily pass," but until I see Camille's propaganda no longer has a voice in your otherwise great mag, no more money.

  • Do we lose for good?

Camille is right in much of what she wrote but I don't understand why everyone is afraid to pull back but not out. Yes this is a long war that will go on for generations not month's or years. The hatred of the west and Israel runs deep. It is taught to children how jews are dogs etc... you don't change that mind set overnite. I say pull back to a more friendly spot like Israel and watch them kill each other. Then when we have to go back in to straighten it out once and for all there will be less of everyone and we won't have to fight as many crazy people. Our troops are dieing right now for people who don't want to stand up for themselves or can't stand up for themselves. It is survival of the fittest. In war there has to be a winner and loser. When Democrats say lets end the war I don't understand it. It isn't like a game that you just end. Can you imagine telling Hitler we just want to end the war. You just don't end wars you either win them or lose them. You just don't stop! If the enemy wants to kill each other off let them. Yes innocent people will die but they are dieing now and will continue to die until one side beats the otherside. Innocent people die in all wars. That is just the ugly side of war. If we let them kill each other off there will be less US casualties later. That is a good thing. Right now US troops and the Iraq people are both the targets. Let them be the targets. We freed them. We won the war. We disposed of Sadam. Now let the Iraq people fend for themselves. We will watch from close by so it doesn't get out of hand.

Don't pull out. Pull back and watch for a while should be the strategy.

  • NO CHANCE IN HELL

Dear Camille Paglia: We will never have access to the minds and hearts of the Muslim youth. Our chances of influencing them to not think of America as the Great Satan are about as good as trying to convince American Fundamentalist Christians that homosexuality is NOT an ABOMINATION and that all queers are NOT going to burn in hell. We both know that that will never happen even if Hell does freeze over and over. I would still vote for you if you ran for President, AFTER we win the war on terror, of course. Here's hoping you have a healty and very long life.

  • Iraq was lost from the moment of 'Shock and Awe'

This farce - it's not a war but a bloody occupation akin to what the Nazis did in WWII- was lost from the moment the grinning ape "resident" mounted 'shock and awe' in March of '03.

I saw the innocents' bodies - burned, mangled - on news clips coming over Deutsche Welle, CCTV (China) and the BBC. It sickened me and I thought to myself: "The stupid arrogant fuckers have already lost this".

Seeing the mangled and incinerated bodies of children in Iraqi hospitals reinforced this. The small boy with both legs torn off, the 4 year old girl with both eyes burned out, and third degree burns over most of her body, the young pregnant woman disembowelled by American shrapnel. The later images of Abu Ghraib and out of control troops kicking in doors and dragging people out in the middle of the night - went further.

"They've already lost the people's hearts and minds, just as in 'Nam" I thought.

    And still do.

There is NO fucking way out except to declare victory and leave.

We had to do it in 'Nam and we will have to do it here. There isn't the money left in the Treasury - given the hundreds of domestic needs, to support this insanity any more.

I hope at least this time, Americans learn their lesson (which they should have after 'Nam') and we have no more Pax Americanas.

  • If we leave Vietnam, do we lose for good?

Just look at how horribly things turned out after some conservative president bailed out of our Sacred Commitments in southeast Asia. Any right-wing nitwit can clearly show you that this resulted in all the dominoes falling and also resulted in the Viet Cong following us home.

If we had fought them there like we should have we wouldn't now be fighting them here.

It just goes to show just how wrong you can be, given an ideology that's a smokescreen for a dishonest agenda.

  • That Time of the Month

Ohmigod, is it that time of the month already? Should have known, as I was feeling bloated, bitchy, with a sharply increased appetite for over-blown, dishonest crap!

  • Another conservative out of touch

The independent coservative is just another of the 40% who continue to beleive the Bush Lies. Goes to show you just how stupid teh American public can be. So he tinks this andminstraton is more ethical than Clinton's. There have been more serious ethical breeches in the bush administration than in any other presedency. This president seem to think he IS the government. Bush forgets this is a government "of the People; by the People; and for the People". Unfortunately the only people Bush is RULING for is the Chrisitain right and Neo conservatives. His policies say " the hell to the rest of you".

The statement "Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists" - is one of the main reason we have lost so much repsect in Europe, as this was directed at France and Germany.

However just listneing to Bush is an embarrasement adn adds to this disresepct. I can only imagine what other leaders are saying in private about our MORON of a Leader.

Anyone who still believes or ever did beleive that Iraq had aay connection to 9/11 is a complete moron. The U.S.created a training ground in Iraq for terrorist that did not exist until after our invasion. Terrorism can best be addressed by stopping our interference in the middle East. Leaving Vietnam had no negative consequences. Leaving Iraq behind will enhance our standing in the world, but we need to rebuild our Dipmloacy, and it will take time to rebuild what the Bush adminstration has distoryed.
