We All Have Lost

The troops are on their way home. Every mother and father, wife and child can rejoice. We have bombed the Iraqis back to 1907. Warring religious tribes are now allowed to fight freely. We own the now defunct infrastructure of the state and much more importantly we own the oil. They have no semblance of a civil state now. Let them all row amongst themselves, the oil is controlled.

Those of you who think this is not a pleasant thing can shovel shit.

Men control men, Nations control nations, this is the case - a fact of nature. So, there has been thousands of deaths, better them than us, what? Oh, do not cry for them, is it not you and I who are better off for their deaths? The world is full of deaths. Look at the lion who kills a lamb, does it not eat?

It is the law of nature - dog eat dog. We can now leave that barren country and live with richness in our fair and green land. Well, I can. You will go on being subjects and report your monies to me and my powerful friends. If you happen to object, not now a revolution, no, too late my lazy people, for now we can see where you go. Your every walk, run and drive is observed by CCTV. You want to organize, collect your cars and coaches to meet each other? No longer, because we can see you. You will be turned back by obedient police officers, and the many private security guards at our disposal.

That there are a few journalists and MP's. Both a living joke. Some of whom will be of a mind to continue the battle for so called freedom. I do hope that you will not. The war is won.

Democracy has failed. Benevolent dictatorship has won.

So pick up your spoons and sip from the bowl given.

Sometimes I need a Paglia Fix

Got bored with the standard fare on line, and went to Drudge to look you up. came across your mail column, and wanted to answer over and over to you or the mailers. I am left with this, in the arguement over Mormons, the actual name of the church is "The Latter Day Saints of Jesus Christ." Whatever you think about their faith, and I have some real un-Mormon thoughts about the tablets and Joseph Smith, it is Christ-centered. And as long as they aren't riding around town on bikes in non-sweating lang-sleeved shirt in the summertime mission trips, I have nothing but admiration for the Mormon work ethic. I think Romney's mormonism is just a red Herring this time around. No one raised that about his father George when he was Presidential timber. However he did self-distruct when he admirred he was lied to (brainwashed was the unfortunate term he used) by the Democratic president LBJ on Vietnam. Notice when Democrats admit they were brainwashed by their acclaimed intellectual inferior W on Iraq, this shows they are indeed stalwarts. Politics.

I had also wanted to comment on the willingness of the tumnescence of classic artwork in the Met, but it is too hard to say the right thing.

Cripes, you Salon readers are brutal

I've always considered Camille Paglia to be one of the most engaging observers of the contemporary scene. I find her writing and insights fresh, witty, and informed.

But when I start reading the comments about her columns by Salon readers....well, I'm just appalled. You people are brutal. You show no mercy and you take no prisoners.

Geez, lighten up a little, folks. Camille is nowhere near as bad as some of you believe.

In any case, please add my one, lonely vote in favor of Camille. I look forward to her column every month and I appreciate her willingness to engage reader responses in her columns.

Some sample responses from Salon readers:

Publishing her without at least a laughtrack or tiny 'total egotist shit sandwich' icon/ pointers alongside is simply offensive. –oceans2007

Next time you let Camille just dump her inbox onto your sight could you give her a word limit?

I ask because its kinda fun to watch her disassemble every month into her nested loop of tired themes (like which has-been actress she’s twiterpating over this week, the dazzling genius of Rush Limbaugh, etc.) but it’s just too damn long when you give her eight pages!

I’m not asking you to give her the axe, just limit her to three or four paragraphs so we can get a chuckle in before moving on to serious writers like Greenwald and Kamiya. –Chad Bagley

Stop... just make her stop. Starts to read like some cheesy effect from an old Dr. Who episode. While sometimes fun to watch... we've all moved on... and she should too... –slancio103

Christ this is bad writing. Again, why is this twit getting a paycheck when you could probably hire Digby? We like various voices, but they must be intelligent. Greenwald was a smart hire. Now give us Digby or somebody comparable and lose Camille. --gttim

gun control

Camille--To disarm the American public you would have to disarm the criminals. Obviously this can not be done. Our borders are wide open to drugs, guns and illegal aliens.

Mexico has stringent antigun laws and I have been told by people living there that every punk that wants a gun has one.

Australia recently degunned their population and serious crime promptly went up.

The article for Hillary

Can you write about why Hillary stands by her man when he got off going to court about attacking and raping that woman because of executive privilage, Also do you think that since he has so much sex with women and hookers that she makes him take an AIDs test or does she just not have sex. And I am so dissapointed that they take money from Murdoch. No one says any of this in the media. Or that the impeachment was done to stop Bill from trying to make money of a war in Iraq and he went to Bosnia instead as a result but that backfired for him. I just don't get why the Clintons get to control and ruin the Democrat party. He hangs out with the Bush family and they get hookers together while trying to show they are so family values. Great what hypocrisy. BUT ALSO WHY DON'T YOU HAVE THE GUTS TO EXPOSE THAT THE TRUMAN ADMINISTRATION DETERMINED THAT PRESCOTT AND GEORGE BACKED THE HOLOCAST AND HITLER. Also how they have backed a number of terrorists and let Bin Ladden go free. He only didn't gas the subway in New York because his people told him he had to give warning first so there was a chance for conversion. And Ladden is trying to regain his support. C'mon while we are makng terrorism worse around the world we can't find Ladden. He has been interviewed multiple times. And then Hillary is such a fake Feminist who just wants as much power and money as possible and is so smug about it. How can you support her. I am very let down by you. Can't you see through it all and that they are manipulating the Democrat party and killing it. Anyway I understand that

Edwards leads in the primary and doesn't care about the national polls at this point so it might be Mitt and John for the race and not Hillary. Unfortunately Obama so far come off like too much of a Black nerd and I don't know if it is the kind of move he can change enough to save him. Bill was trying to fight in Iraq before 9/11 to make money so I can't support him- no way, no how. Good luck to you fight the good fight. And while you should acknowledge that while it's hard to find the good indie films/shorts that they at best act in a real way that is different and deserves special consideration. But you are right we don't have the Gregory Pecks and Marlon Brandos anymore- albeit I am a big director man myself. But must have been great in the 40s in a 5000 seater with a great film and door prizes and Sinatra Live and real showmanship. Or rather a Route 66 spirit where people gave more bang for the buck and much more cool things for universal and not nostalgic reasons. Check out the history of the Ballaniese Club that was shut down by a sherrif for gambling in Galveston Tx. Tommy Dorsey played 5-8 hours there with cheap 5 course meals and a packed dance floor and no greatest hits- new but good songs and the musicians playing well with 3 singers alternating close up. Not the style of music but the fact it's cheap and close-up and not a greatest hits show- often bad- in a stadium for $2000 at the ticket agency with tickets given to them before they go on sale to the public.
