  • A true Camille fan speaks

It's so obvious the news sources she mentioned are liberally biased, that bit of common sense could be ascertained by an 8 year old child. And as for Hillary's "quoting a Southern poem"; does that mean that if she were to actually quote the Bible, (which seems unlikely, her liberal constituents would likely not approve), I'm sure, she would do so in Aramaic, or Latin, or quote Shakespeare with a little Queen's English accent as well? Give me a break... She was pandering, she is as phony as phony can be. As for the Dems pulling out of the FOX news Debate, it's merely an indication they're afraid to show the rest of the country where they really stand on the issues. FOX holds the largest audience, and the Dems cannot afford to have their ideologies expressed in a televised medium with actual viewers. It would be political suicide to show their approval of Partial Birth Abortion, appeasment to terrorists, gutless indifference to fighting a war for the betterment of a people in Iraq who have never tasted freedom, and giving in to the tides of the liberal media and blogs for political gain. They are simply too scared to get pinned down on actually answering questions they may have to "vote for, then against" later in their political careers. I actually have to say, her article was well thought, and logical. I'm sure many would disagree here on Salon.com, but I only linked here from Drudge and have only a mild understanding of it's readers, but from the reader letters, I can see it's a small gathering of liberals lost in their feelings, and void of reason. In English Accent "If you're not a liberal at twenty you have no heart, if you're not a conservative at forty you have no brain." -Churchill

Another die-hard conservative congratulates Camille for "telling it like it is!" Surprising.

Camille only exists to legitimize right-wing talking points.

  • Such "Progressive" venom!

Wow! The venomous responses to Paglia in this letters section are proof positive of the ultra-religious nature of the new Left in this country. Absolute intollerance and contempt for anyone who doesn't chant the Leftist mantra. All conservative thoughts are EVIL! Never mind having a civil debate with those whom you disagree with (wouldn't want to risk learning something by listening carefully to new ideas). Just hurl insults and demand that Salon editors give you your echo chamber back.

Salon used to have a true diversity of writers (way back in the beginning), but inch by inch, intollerant Leftists and new editors have turned Salon into a boringly predictable Leftist ideological (virtual) rag.

Paglia is a breath of fresh air on a sunken ship.

  • I actually thought it was good

I'm sorry, I was born a conservative, why can't you hold the same tolerance for me as for homosexuals? I tolerate liberalism, though I feel it is illogical. I do wish to comment on one reader letter stating that the article made him "Think". I'm glad to see it, that sentement needs to be picked up by more liberals. You have to stop shouting with your heart, and start speaking with your mind. But I have noticed the reader whom highlighted my comments it's pretty rabid, so I don't really take any stock in their letters. Need to get off the web and read a book, maybe an Ann Coulter book, hahah, sorry, had to do it...

  • Chris Parker

Good to see others are kinda tired of "liberal" intolerence. I don't get it really, I thought liberals were supposed to be "tolerant","open", and "enlightened", why then do liberal bloggers and liberal writers on websites give off the impression of nothing but. Crushing conservative descent is okay, but questioning liberal thought is "EVIL". It's become so seemingly mainstream to be a liberal, that it is the new conformist ideology, and that conservatives are the ones truly coming up with new ideas; liberalism is stuck in it's own rut. Well, cue the liberal hate letter.............now!!!!

  • Editor's Choice Stars on Paglia's Article: Major Pro-Paglia Bias and the Same Letter Writer Chosen Twice.

Can we please have some transparency about who is choosing the "editor's choice" stars for letters on Paglia's article? Out of the letters chosen so far, you've chosen only one letter that doesn't praise Paglia-- completely unrepresentative of the actual letters you've received today-- and chosen the same author-- kidde7even-- twice today. I've NEVER seen this happen before on Salon, where the same letter writer was awarded two "editor choice" stars for letters on the same article. Get this: out of five letters chosen, two of them are from the same letter writer. Where are Salon's usual standards? Is someone that desperate for pro-Paglia letters that you have to return to the same well twice? Obviously, something's screwy and somebody's trying to stack the deck. Which editor is in charge of awarding stars for Paglia's article today? (It's kind of hilarious that this is for a Paglia article where she yammers on about media bias; looks an awful lot like Paglia's experiencing the positive effects of a little bias herself today from someone at Salon).

  • Nothing new with readers.

The same poststructuralist Ed. school and womens studies alums who didn't understand the concept of unspoonfed objectivity and observation said it 16 years ago at the beginning and say it now.

Reactionary moonbats with right-side neglect (in diapers 16 years ago) say it now.

    Keep it coming Camille.

  • Here's another interesting fact

...contrary to dipshit perceptions: Churchill never made the statement about liberals and conservatives attributed to him. And why would he? He was not a banal person.

In fact Churchill was a conservative when he was fifteen and a liberal when he was thirtyfive.

A conservative with a brain might have looked it up before they posted the phoney quote. But I'm afraid there haven't been any conservatives with a brain in quite a while. Certainly the Iraq war and the Bush administration is good proof of that.

  • When Camille Writes, I'm Going to Have to Stop Looking at Salon's Cover Page

I'm going to have to stop looking at Salon's home page whenever Camille Paglia has a column in that issue. It's horrid to look at. I'm not a big C.P. fan, but that's not the problem - the problem is an ugly caricature done in a depressing shade of gray that makes Ms. Paglia's wrinkles ever more prominent. Is it possible that at her age he face is so deeply sculpted by age?

It not my lack of admiration for Camille Paglia or her face that troubles me - but to be confronted by this gruesome rendering early in the morning, before my coffee - it's like the attic painting of Dorain Gray, brought out with all of an art gallery's openings excesses of spotlights and drama, only to be blundered upon by an errant, innocent tourist. Yuck. I am that unwitting tourist, as I bring my PC out of hibernation. New picture, please.
