CP loss of interest watch...
Nine days and counting...I wonder how long it'll take the "pioneering Web proto-blogger" to churn out another column? And what will she write about? She's covered all the trite topical subjects and personal tropes and reminded us about how she "burst on to the national scene with Sexual Personae". What's left? A new appreciation of Keith Richards' rock'n'roll swagger? Madonna again?

Spurt says, re: No Name Given
Dear No Name Given - I think you got a little too worked up about my comments. Maybe I was just being a 'provocateur' like Camille Paglia, non?
Thank you for citing so much intellectual text in your fervent reply to my casual put-downs of CP. I still think she's a nut. And I think you are reading to many books, chill out - watch TV, its good for the soul once in a while. I like Judge Judy and Ellen, two big faves when I need to relax my mind.
Your comment 'I refuse to be a rat in your maze.' was a little over the top. Are my comments really opressing you that harshly, have I become some gigantic monolithic opressive force that has you 'refusing to be a rat' in my maze? Yowza! Basically, I am pretty comfortable in saying I think Camille Paglia is a windbag and a nut-job. That's all, just sharing my opinion. Thanks for getting so worked up over my comments, I am kind of flattered.

Spurt says re No Name Given re: Michael Sullivan
Now your calling me Michael Sullivan? Huh? I thought you were done with your comments. I haven't been back to the site for a while.
I don't even know who the hell Michael Sullivan is - I guess I could Google it. And your comparing me to Pol Pot, calling me some kind of proto-totalitarian? Whoah, dude, that is totally harsh. That's just bizarre. But oh well, whatever.

Spurt says: re 'misogyny' and No Name Given
You posted in reference to my comments the following:
"Harridan"? "Wrinkled prune"? "Starfucker"? "Publicity whore"? then you claimed that you detected misogyny. Well, I used the term 'harridan', however, all the other words you attributed to me I DID NOT USE IN MY COMMENTS. Ok? And I am not Michael Sullivan, whoever he is.
And anyhow, it's late and I'm gonna hit the sack.
Have A Nice Whatever.

As Karl Marx is Often Paraphrased...
Apropos of the response to Paglia's initial debut on the scene, and now her return to Salon:
"History repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce."
Wow, Spurt! You've proved Marx right!!

Camille's back!
Right back where she started, precisely because she can't earn a steady paycheck spewing her Right-wing righteous bullshit anywhere else except this fucking rag. Just like a dog returns to lap up its own vomit.
-
And What Are You Doing Here, Doggie?
And why are you licking your chops?
Is that vomit you're eat-
Oh, Shit, folks... That dog's foaming at the mouth! Mad Dog Alert!! Mad Dog posing as one Michael Sullivan!! Alert!! Alert!! Head for the hills - this is one nasty critter! Someone trained him how to cuss, next he'll be...
Wait a second, folks. False alarm... There's no danger. He's just a nasty little curr, best ignored...
-
If Camille's going to respond to her critics in here,
I wish she'd at least come up with something better than --No Name Given.
-
SORRY
to diassapoint you, but if I were Camille, this would be better written. Besides, I doubt she has the time to respond to the tripe thus presented...
-
You are all wrong!!
You cretinous fools!! I for one am overjoyed that I, I mean that Camille Paglia will be returning to inject some much needed bombast and geniune academic insight (I was, I mean she was taught by Harold Bloom!) into Salon (which by the way, I played a, erm, she played an integral part in founding, don't ya' know!!)

Liberalism
The Church of Liberalism and Hip ocracy
Demand that no one eat meat, but you can wear leather shoes and bags
Don't smoke cigarettes or let others do so, but smoking lung-destroying marijuana or hash is fine
Don't kill animals or violent murderers, but you can kill babies up to nine months in the womb
Say that you Honor Diversity, but ridicule and despise white males, Christians, Southerners and most Americans
Preach peace when other nations are trying to kill us, but justify and support the evil violence of radical revolutionaries in other countries
Preach about global warming, while driving gas guzzling vans and SUV's and traveling the world by plane (Because Liberals hate America, they feel compelled to leave it as often as possible so they can tell the rest of the world how horrible we are).
Preach protection of the environment while building houses in and going on damaging treks, in pristine wilderness areas
Preach equality and tolerance, but feel free to ridicule the less educated and working class
Label pornography as demeaning to women, but insist that children be allowed to view it in public libraries without "censorship."
Preach zero population, but don't anyone dare tell a welfare crack mom she can't have 10 kids who will no doubt burden the justice system, as well as the environment
Deny the government any means possible to protect its citizens from murdering terrorists (in the name of civil rights), but condemn the government for not having known about or avoided the Sept. 11th attack
Demand tolerance for the most intolerant, sexist and violent religion in the world (hmmm can you guess?)
Demand freedom of speech and thought for liberals, but deny it for anyone whose views differ from your own (pc fascism: throw pies in their faces or demand they be fired).

Ann Coulter
Dear Camille Paglia,
First, many, many thanks for "Break, Blow, Burn" as well as for starting up a regular column again. Perhaps you've written about her elsehwere and I've missed it, but I'm sure many of your readers would appreciate your take on Ann Coulter. We really need you on this one, especially after her latest pronouncements.

Camille's culture
I was lucky enough to catch Camille Paglia's C-Span lecture, but there seemed some deep contradictions in her cultural position. For one thing, she never explained why an atheist would espouse the teaching of religions. As an atheist myself, I find religion deeply distressing in the distortion it imposes on people's entire lives. For another, she propounds the value of pop culture, yet seems to reject its values of the excitement of violence and the dominance of kitsch. And the third issue goes to the heart of the feminist ethos and gender politics. On the one hand, Paglia expressed a strong advocacy of beauty of nudity while on the other evincing a jocular disgust at the freedom of physical expression of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. It seems that she should have appreciated their gestures, which were pioneered by Marilyn Monroe in the famous subway grating scene as a means to becoming a popular icon.
This contradictions suggest that you have to make a choice between high culture and low culture, Camille. Perhaps your current ambiguities represent a transition from the one to the other.
